AUBURN, Alabama -- Former Auburn star Mamadou N'Diaye has been hired as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech.

N'Diaye spent the previous three seasons as an assistant at Coastal Carolina under former Auburn coach Cliff Ellis. N'Diaye was spotted on the Auburn campus in March and had interest in joining Bruce Pearl's staff.

Auburn has one assistant coaching position open on the staff after Pearl hired Auburn's all-time scoring leader, Chuck Person, a veteran NBA assistant coach, to join Tony Jones on the staff.

"We are very excited about adding Mamadou to our staff," Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory said in a news release. "A tremendous teacher of the game who excels at player development, Mamadou has played for and coached under one of the best in the business in Cliff Ellis. He will also expand our national and international recruiting scope. He is a true professional in every sense of the word."

The Tech campus is located in Atlanta, where Pearl's staff hopes to make inroads on the recruiting trail in the near future.

N'Diaye was a two-time All-SEC star for the Tigers and broke Charles Barkley's career blocked shots record.
