New Diablo III Novella Coming Soon: Morbed

by - 10 years ago

Blizzard’s publishing lead Micky Neilson just announced a new Diablo III novella, entitled Morbed, that will be coming out towards the end of April. The novella will be a digital release only that you can find on Amazon’s Kindle service.

The story will follow the adventures of a thief named Morbed, for whom the novella is named after as he travels to a remote island to recover valuable possessions that were stolen from Westmarch. Alongside Morbed will be a wizard, a druid, a necromancer, and a crusader. Not much is known about Morbed and even less is know about his companions. We do know that Morbed owns an enchanted lantern that he always keeps shackled to his wrist for some reason and that he shares some connection to the companions he is travelling with. I have some thoughts about the story that I’ll include after the book description and invite you to share any ideas of your own in the comments below.

An original e-novella based on the bestselling video game!

Morbed is a thief and a survivor, and his skills in both roles are about to be put to the ultimate test. Joining together with a wizard, a druid, a necromancer, and a crusader, Morbed has arrived at a remote island to track down an elusive vagabond and reclaim valuable items pilfered from the city of Westmarch.

But there is something loose on the island, something that has killed and is very close to killing again. In order to leave the island alive, Morbed will be forced to confront not only the terrifying creature that stalks the forests, but the darkest corners of his own spirit as well.

Ready for some theories on the characters in the novella? Not exactly spoilers but this is based on information contained in the Book of Tyrael, so take that into consideration before reading on.

Morbed’s companions are dead. In the Book of Tyrael, it is mentioned that Morbed himself possesses the power of wizards, druids, necromancers, and crusaders and nothing about traveling with anyone. The coincidence that he’s going to the island with the same group of casters and the ghostly depiction of them in the cover art is almost a dead giveaway, forgive the pun. Who is the vagabond and what was it that he stole to draw the attention of Morbed? Now those are some things to ponder on.
