Credit: meow_meow / Shutterstock Hitachi Vantara announced the availability of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One, a unified platform that spans both on-premises and cloud storage and supports both structured and unstructured data. Data growth has always been a challenge to manage, and it has only gotten worse in the era of analytics, generative AI, and data silos that span multiple on-prem and cloud sites. Hitachi cited a recent poll from The Data Warehousing Institute that found while 71% of IT experts agreed that their organization values data, only 19% said they have a strong data management strategy in place. “By eliminating data silos, Virtual Storage Platform One empowers organizations to take control and unleash the power of their information. This new powerful solution breaks down the barriers between data sources, allowing organizations to manage everything, from basic files to complex databases within one platform,” said Octavian Tanase, chief product officer, Hitachi Vantara in a statement. Virtual Storage Platform One is built on a unified data ecosystem that integrates block and file storage. It’s aimed at eliminating data silos and fragmentation by ensuring every piece of information is collected, integrated, and accessible from any device or location, making it easier to access, view, and use. The One Data Plane extends Hitachi’s storage portfolio into the public cloud through support of only AWS at this point; Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud runs natively on AWS. VSP One SDS Block and Cloud is automated with Ansible playbooks available on Github at launch. For visibility, the entire portfolio of on-premises and cloud storage can be viewed from a single dashboard. Virtual Storage Platform One is available from Hitachi Vantara now.
