Bowling replaces Fire Chief Martin Scott Dailey, who will officially retire on Dec. 31.

THOMASVILLE — City Manager Kelly Craver has announced that Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Bowling has been hired as the new Fire Chief.
Bowling replaces Fire Chief Martin Scott Dailey, who will officially retire on Dec. 31.
Bowling is a career firefighter with the City of Thomasville with 18 years of service. He served as Assistant Fire Chief for Thomasville and managed the operations division, emergency management division, rescue, medical and safety programs within the fire department. He serves as the Chairperson for Davidson County’s Local Emergency Planning Committee and board member of the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce. Bowling has an associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Sciences from DCCC and a bachelor’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Western Carolina University, with a minor in Criminal Justice. He is currently enrolled in the master’s degree program in Public Administration at Appalachian State University. Currently, Bowling is a certified Emergency Manager, Paramedic and is listed as NIMS instructor with NC Emergency Management. He recently received a Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
Bowling has been instrumental in moving the department forward with additional rescue and medical certifications for the department, as well as the creation of the City’s Emergency Operations Center. “I feel 100% confident that he will continue to move the department forward and continue to improve and expand fire department services to our citizens,” Craver said.
Bowling has been married to Jennifer Bowling for the last 18 years. He has two children: a son Bailey and daughter Gracie. Bailey is a student at DCCC and Gracie attends East Davidson High School. Jennifer is a student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program through Gardner-Webb University.
