There's a lot in this story. Elemental forces, good vs evil, suspense, horror and writing that creates vivid images inside your head. Some of these images aren't pleasant as they involve characters facing their deaths and acting in ways that aren't normal for them. I liked the fact there was just enough information for me to imagine events, without being told all the details.
I liked how the book was written. Each chapter is a new year, the anniversary of a fire that occurs earlier in the story. Main character Manny is the link through all the chapters. We see him grow and make mistakes, but it's him who begins to piece together what has been happening in his home town. Something supernatural is at work and it's killing people.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys supernatural thrillers or horrors.
