White Rock is the place to be on July 1st!
Join us for the annual Canada Day by the Bay celebration, presented by Amica White Rock, at the White Rock Waterfront and enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities from 10:00 am - 10:00 pm. This annual event attracts thousands of people and is one not to be missed!
Headliners on the Budget Blinds Main Stage are Towers & Trees, Terence Jack and Wooden Horsemen. The headliner sponsor is the White Rock BIA. The Main Stage will be located in the Totem Park parking lot this year. Other highlights include:
- Opening Ceremonies at 1:00 pm
- The Kid Zone is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and will feature Korki the Clown, Sea Star Face Painting, the Firefighters Charity BBQ and you can get your photos taken at the Giggle Booth, sponsored by Half Moon Dentistry
- Food Trucks
- Vendors along the Promenade
- Fireworks at 10:15 pm
- Free Waterfront Shuttle and Trolley Service

Annual State of City Address
Hosted by the South Surrey & White Rock (SSWR) Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Baldwin spoke at the Annual State of the City Address about the accomplishments of White Rock City Council throughout the 2014 - 2018 term, the status of council corporate priorities, and more.

At the June 25, 2018, Regular Council Meeting:
- Council welcomed delegations/presentations:
- F. Lander, resident, appeared as a delegation to provide information regarding new technology on upcoming infrastructure (5G Technology - fifth generation of wireless technology).
- Council received a petition requesting "permit parking only" on Keil Street and Vine Avenue.
- The 2017 Annual Report was endorsed by Council.
- Council approved the 2017 Statement of Financial Information.
- Council received a presentation from Advisian Consulting and endorsed the Aquifer Protection Plan (Groundwater management).
- Council approved the award of a janitorial services and supplies (3-year term) contract to Nutech Facility Services Ltd. in the amount of $1,240,480.99.
- Council approved a number of Grants-in-Aid requests. The awardees can be seen on page 4 and 5 of the Agenda.

Notice of Work and Temporary Closures/Detours
Memorial Park Promenade:
The Memorial Park pathway will be closed temporarily on Friday morning, June 29, between 7:00 am – 10:00 am to move site fencing. Once this is complete, the public will have the direct access from the museum to the pier along the new widened promenade.
A reminder that the parking lot located to the east of Memorial Park will be closed from now until the end of the construction due to the construction of the retaining wall for the new washroom building and viewing platform. Johnston Road:
Next week, July 3 and 4, 2018, there will be alternating traffic pattern for both Southbound and Northbound traffic on Johnston Road from North Bluff to Russel Avenue to complete the irrigation crossings at Johnston Road. The traffic pattern will resume normal conditions upon completion of the crossings.
In addition, concrete work for the sidewalk at the North East corner of Johnston Road will begin July 3. During this work, a short section of the North Bluff sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians (yellow line). Pedestrians will be provided with a safe passage to detour the closure (blue line). All crosswalks at the intersection are scheduled to be kept operating unless an unsafe condition arises that Traffic Management Personnel deem necessary to suspend use of crosswalks for pedestrians. The temporary sidewalk and concrete work are scheduled for two days.

The Family Show Art Opening
June 28 | 5:30 - 7:00 | White Rock Community Centre | Free Admission
Join us for the opening of the Family Show - a group show including artist, Karen Kroeker, Jeffery Rassmussen, Colin Mitchell, Christine Homfeld, and more. For this exhibition, we encouraged artists to utilize a work of art created by a member of their family as the basis for a reproduction or a new inspired work. Through this process, artists will be acknowledging their family’s influence on their creative journeys while reflecting upon this as artists of today.

FREE Waterfront Shuttle Bus Service on Marine Drive
The City of White Rock launched a FREE waterfront shuttle service during the revitalization of Memorial Park and parkade construction to assist people to move along the waterfront on Marine Drive.
The free shuttle service will run from:
April 6 to September 30 | 7 days a week
Times: 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
