The Argentine musician and actor Daniel Melingo is the Bowie of Tango, innovating the art form, making it strange, playing with characters: in this case the vagabond of the title, navigating his way through a surreal underworld.

The music is sweeping and orchestral, rather than small-ensemble tango, with the clarinets hinting at jazz; Melingo’s voice is less gravelly and more seductive than usual.
