Community comes together to build St. Jude Dream Home

DALEVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- ABC 13 is partnering together with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to give away a beautiful home during a raffle later this year.

Crews are working hard to get the Ashley Plantation home ready for the giveaway.

Mark Dunbar, president of MW Dunbar construction says all of the recent rain has put crews behind by 3 to 4 weeks but he says he's doubled the amount of crew members to make up for time.

"Everybody there that's working on the jobs that I brought in so far - the early stages on it everybody is just excited they want to see what it looks like too and they're happy to be working," said Dunbar.

Dunbar says the community has come together, donating materials and labor for his project.

He says it will be a brick home with a similar look to other houses in the area.

If it's not raining, crews are out working on the home.

Dunbar hopes to start the second floor next week.
