The Cambridges think Meghan’s friend’s sister-in-law is behind the Tatler debacle, lol

First Annual Royal Foundation Forum

Tatler’s “Catherine the Great” story is the funniest gossip we’ve had in months. I’m genuinely thankful and grateful for the gossip escapism and wow, we really needed this. To recap, Anna Pasternak’s Tatler cover story was full of shady sh-t about both the Duke and Duchess of Karens/Cambridge. Some of the gossip was so obviously part of Kensington Palace’s design, it was stuff that was allegedly “pro-Kate” and it just landed wrong. The other stuff was not pro-Kate at all, and I still believe that it should be read as the Revenge of the Turnips. The aristocratic set in Norfolk, the Turnip Toffs, used this moment to “put Kate in her place.” I feel like Rose Hanbury especially might have left her fingerprints on some of those quotes. But instead of correctly assigning blame – the call is coming from inside Houghton Hall – the Cambridges are just doing what they always do, which is “blame Meghan.” Meghan is sitting in LA, minding her f–king business, but she’s also living rent free in Bill and Cathy’s heads:

Claims that Kate feels “trapped and exhausted” in the Royal Family were written by a journalist with close links to Meghan, it was claimed. The Duchess of Cambridge is suing Tatler magazine over an article that Kensington Palace says is full of falsehoods and “inaccuracies”.

Furious Kate is suing Tatler magazine over the piece by Anna Pasternak which Kensington Palace said was full of falsehoods and inaccuracies. Sources say Pasternak is friends with ex-Tatler journalist Vanessa Mulroney, the sister-in-law of Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney. There is no suggestion that Meghan briefed Pasternak herself.

Last year five friends of Meghan famously briefed People Magazine last year about the hard time she was having in the Family.

And Tatler insisted it was standing by its story.

But a royal source said: “Pasternak’s article caused immense unnecessary pain for Kate and its central claim that she felt trapped and unhappy was wildly untrue. Pasternak is sticking to her story and saying her sources are good. She is very well connected in the US. She is friends with Vanessa Mulroney who used to work at Tatler and now lives in Canada. And Vanessa’s sister-in-law Jessica is Meghan’s best friend. It’s intriguing.”

[From The Sun]

HAhahahahAHAHAHAHAHhAhahaha. I can’t. This is so stupid. Think about this: for two years, Tatler was part of the smear campaign against the Duchess of Sussex, and Tatler was gleeful in reporting insulting nicknames for Meghan and claming she’s a “social climber,” all of which happened as soon as Richard Dennen became editor in chief. Dennen was good friends with Kate at St. Andrews. That’s it. That’s the connection. But no, the Cambridges argue, Tatler only did that piece because Anna Pasternak is friends with Meghan’s friend’s sister-in-law!! Again, the Tatler piece is full of NORFOLK TEA. This is all very reminiscent of William running to Richard Kay last year to insinuate that Meghan was behind the Rose Hanbury story too.

People are always trying to make the argument that the royals are playing three-dimensional chess with the press. There’s some kind of conspiracy that William and Kate are actively doing all of this sh-t around Tatler to A) distract from Prince Andrew or B) because they WANT people to talk about the piece. My strong belief is that William and Kate are idiots who don’t understand how the media works but think they’re communications experts. They are exactly as short-sighted, petty and terrible as they seem. Sometimes there’s no subtext, it’s just TEXT.

Conveniently forgets that the editor of the magazine went on trips with the cambridges and went to school with them

also the audacity to suggest that Meghan should have helped Karen Middleton with this issue when Karen and Kevin didn’t do shit when she was getting attacked. the nerve.

    • Hope says:

Pasternak collaborated with James Hewitt, right? There is no way Harry and Meghan have anything to do with this.

But there is also a conspiracy theory that Meghan and Harry leaked about Canada to Dan Wooten to have an excuse to make their plans public. People who are desperate to minimize the abuse Meghan has faced actually accuse her of collaborating with the people who smear her. If they can make up insane theories insisting she doesn’t care, then they can justify that they don’t care and actually enjoyed what happened to her.

Wow to William running to the Sun to push the attention back on Meghan. Pathetic FFK.

      • S808 says:

They’re desperate to feed the tabs something of Meghan so they will be left alone but I don’t think this weak connection will do the trick. It’s obvious their aristo friends simply don’t like them (or Meghan).

      • Belli says:

Isn’t it just so kind of the notoriously restrained and considerate Dan Wooton to just sit on a massive exclusive story like the Sussexes being the ones to leak their plans to him just out of sheer kindness towards two people he famously likes so much…

      • Hope says:

@Belli. Everyone in the press apparently covers for Meghan because she calls the paparazzi. Everyone in the press is actually controlled by Meghan and simultaneously Harry and Meghan are suing the press because they can’t control them.

Good for Karen uh I mean Kate enforcing royal protocol and putting Meghan in her place. And good for the royal family not speaking up for them and taking away Harry’s military appointments.

      • Elizabeth says:

Pasternak in her author bio at the front of the magazine said that she thought Meghan and Kate had been treated the same by the media, and the Meghan was a snowflake for being upset by it. So how could anyone possibly think that Meghan has something to do with this article. Also, this like a friend of a friend of friend said something.

      • notasugarhere says:

W&K stans only came up with that Wootton conspiracy theory to cover the truth. WikiLeaks or someone the KP office staff leaked to Wootton to try to destroy the Sussex escape plan. They didn’t realize Harry and Meghan had a fully-formed, written out plan explaining everything which they published on a moment’s notice.

William, incandescent with rage, then started in on all the ‘Harry is fragile’ BS to cover the tracks leading straight from Wootton back to William.

      • Tessa says:

The DM comments are swarming with name calling Meghan detractors. And the overflattery of Kate. Who are these people? Bots? They sound the same.

      • L4frimaire says:

Interesting how they’re pushing this in the bottom feeder tabloids the Sussexes have decided to no longer engage with except through their lawyers. They are really pushing it to see if they can goad a response from the Sussexes team to change the focus.

      • Koki says:

I don’t think that anyone leaked their location back then. I remember that no one knew where they were, everyone thought that they were spending Thanksgiving at Doria’s. But they posted Happy Thanksgiving message on Sussex Royal Instagram account, and they put a little maple tree leaf in their description (you can take a look, it’s still there). I remember that people on other forums started commenting instantly that they probably were in Canada. Daily Mail and others began digging, and found out that they were on Vancouver Island. So, basically, they, intentionally or not, leaked their whereabouts at that moment.

      • GuestWho says:

@Koki: That’s a lovely theory, but remember that there was no CONFIRMATION that they were in Canada until a day or so after W&K had a gathering with the Royal Rota. Not a coincidence.

      • Nic919 says:

The media found out they were on Vancouver Island because KP told them that during a press briefing. People speculated LA or Canada for months and it wasn’t until right after the KP briefing that suddenly they knew it was Vancouver Island. A maple leaf on an IG means nothing and Canada is a really big country. In fact they were saying it was more likely Meghan was back in Toronto until KP spilled the beans.

    • BayTampaBay says:

@Tessa – I believe they are bots and paid posters. The Daily Fail Online makes money by driving the BTL commentariat to a frenzy. I read the Daily Fail article and all it does is attempt to establish via “Six Degrees of Separation” a connection to the Sussexes.

Anybody “in the know” realizes The Tatler story did not come from Maghan as Meghan and The Tatler have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. Meghan would not speak to Tatler and Tatler would not listen to Meghan. People “in the know” have no doubt that 75% of this story came from The Turnip Toffs.

      • Ginger says:

I read an article from someone that talked to a former DM employee and they said that 75% of the commenters are bots and paid employees that have to push a certain narrative.

      • Lisa says:

Notice they usually comment on a reply so we’re not able to reply to them. I’m with you- paid bots.

      • BabsORIG says:

The story was approved by Kensington palace, let’s please yell that loud enough, maybe all the deflection will stop right here. I don’t care whether KP read or did not read through the story before publication, that was their stupidity. But the Tatler stated that the denial that they knew nothing about the story is unequivocally false. The Cambridges approved the story, they approved every source to talk to AP, they approved the publication, end of story. Its not 75% from Turnip toffs, its 75% from Kate Middleton and her friends and her family, 15% Turnip toffs, 10% courtiers and 5% everything else, that’s it, period, pinto, fin, end of story.

  2. Zapp Brannigan says:

“There is no suggestion that Meghan briefed Pasternak herself, we are just thinking that very loudly and writing about the possibility in our rag that is not fit for the budgie cages it will line tomorrow” Fixed it for you Dan Wooton!

You see I get no glee from this, because a number of people will believe that Meghan did this because they read she did in the paper, people don’t look beyond the headlines and will cape for Kensington Karen and plain ignore what Andrew, the Beast of Buckingham Palace, is at because they papers don’t write about his case.

  3. Belli says:

The editor of Tatler was friends with Kate and William, the magazine has sources deep in the aristocratic set and Pasternak herself has been unpleasant about Meghan before…

But no, it’s much more likely that someone four degrees removed from Meghan who wrote negative articles about her before (all part of a long con to lull Kate into a false sense of security??) is suddenly fiercely fighting her corner.

    The dumbassery knows no depths.

    • Chaine says:

Right?! I was trying to work out in my head if any of my friends have ever said anything to me about their husband’s sister’s best friends that I could share with a gossip magazine but NO.

    • Em says:

Oh come on, what’s more likely?
That the husband’s former mistress spilled the tea, or that it was the sister-in-law’s best friend’s granmother’s dog walker’s barista’s uncle?
And before you decide, I should point out the sister in law is black.
      Yeah I thought so.

  4. Maevo says:

They got spoiled having good press the past few years while Meghan was being ripped to shreds. Now the press needs a new punching bag and W&K were not prepared for the tables to turn so fast.

    • Belli says:

I wasn’t prepared for it either, actually. I thought they’d get a longer grace period as long as they kept showing off the kids. Someone is pissed off with them.

      • Mary says:

Maybe because the Cambridges would not cooperate with Tatler on this story or provide a picture?

      • Becks1 says:

same here. I thought they would be treated with kid gloves until the Sussexes one year review.

but honestly, the funny thing is that this article isn’t THAT bad. It doesn’t really say anything new. It rehashes old gossip and old snark – Kate not working, Kate’s mom is a snob, etc – and its snarky and classist….but there’s nothing earth shattering in it.

If Kate/Kensington Palace cant handle THIS, what are they going to do when the criticism really gets going?

Or maybe that’s the goal – send a warning shot now that no criticism will be tolerated.

      • Maevo says:

You’re right that it’s not really anything new…maybe W&K are nervous because it shows that the Toffs are talking so they want to shut it down ASAP for fear of what else the Toffs will say that IS new information….

      • morrigan01 says:

I think if Meghan has left by herself (with or without Archie), the grace period of the press turning on W&K would have been a lot longer. Not just because there would be the whole drama of a split/divorce of H&M, but because Harry would have quietly been slotted back into his 3rd wheel role behind W&K. Continuing to do most of the work for the KP foundation but getting little of the credit, tagging along with them – alone – to events (but there to interact with Kate when William was ignoring her) and once again viewed as the fun-loving screw-up spare.

The twist was that when Meghan left – just like they wanted, because more drama and ways to trash her – Harry left WITH her. (And, by all accounts, was the one to actually lead the exodus of his wife and child out of the UK). THAT is what has them all shook/mad. They really did NOT expect or see Harry leaving with her coming. (More fools them). And, when he did, that compelty flipped the script and time table on all of this. Because now the tabs can’t use a Harry and Meghan split (what they’d been working for) to keep their money on writing about (and trashing) Meghan coming in. They were building a whole industry to constantly report on and trash her, even if a split came (*especially* if a split came) ; and now that whole industry has grinded to a halt not only because Harry and Meghan left *together* but they also compelty left the UK as well. And cut all access from the UK tabs off publicly as well.

So the UK press is essentially left with nothing when it came to the years-long plan – hell *decades* long plan really – to monetize and capitalize on the Sussexes. Anything of note about them at this point they have ZERO access to or news about. The only game left in town now to them are the Cambridges. The turning on them was always going to happen the minute any news about Harry and Meghan basically dried up for too long. And we are now entering that point.

That’s why W&K ran to The Sun with this nonsense. They are trying desperately to not have more of the UK tabloid press turn like Tatler clearly has. It’s trying to use the same plan as before, deflect from themselves by using the REAL golden goose for the UK media (that they and the UK media killed when H&M left, but I digress); the UK press still seems willing to run any nasty, nonsensical thing about Meghan they can get – for now. But, at some point, *that* is going to reach a sell-by date as well when it comes to propping up the Cambs while doing so. Like it clearly did for Tatler.

      • HeyJude says:

I don’t think anyone’s pissed at them, they’re simply the necessary and only available high level press sacrifice to shelter the more important people regarding the Pedophile Prince scandal (the biggest threat facing the monarchy since they were cozying up to Hitler). The most important people W&K are being served up on a platter for- 1. Queen, 2. Soon King Charles, & 3. Prince Pedophile and the questions attached to him relating to numbers 1 & 2 regarding why they are still allowing him to be involved in their lives, live on royal property, paying his debts, etc. despite the increasing evidence he’s he’s a serial child abuser.

    • S808 says:

I still think the tabs are not happy with H&M running off so soon. They expected years worth of stories and material for books and wound up with nothing. There’s nothing to throw at them because they overplayed their hand when the Sussexes were around. Now they need to feed and they’re sitting on piles of Cambridge material. With that being sad, this article is nothing compared to what Meghan went through. They’re still being treated with kid gloves. There’s not even anything new in it about Kate. They’re just upset their aristo friends don’t like them. I think we’ll see the gloves come off when the Sussexes 1-year review happens and they don’t return to being working royals and Meghan wins her lawsuit.

      • morrigan01 says:

It’s not that is was so “soon” (Remember, Meghan was called by them and other a “degree” wife because they expected her to leave in 3 years – apparently how long it takes someone to get a degree in the UK or whatever).

No, it was the fact that Harry left *WITH* her. THAT wasn’t supposed to happen. That is what has them – from KP to the RR to the haters-trolls – shook and confused. They really, truly, did NOT see that twist coming.

It’s why there is still all that nonsense talk about Meghan “controlling” Harry and trying to portray him as weak and mentally ill and all that. Because they are now, for the moment, working under the delusion that he will leave Meghan (and possibly Archie) and come back to the UK.

One the one year is up and it’s clear that Harry *isn’t* coming back . . . well, I honestly don’t know how they’ll react. But I don’t expect it to be good.

But yeah, they were expecting years of being able to abuse Meghan, even if a split happened in the predicted degree 3. They could have gotten years mileage out of trash “reporting” if there was a split/divorce happening, especially with Archie in the mix.

Now? Harry and Meghan are still together and half a world away in another country. They killed their own golden goose, and W&K helped them do it. So yeah, the gloves aren’t fully off yet, but they seem to be for now at least in the Toff circle.

      • Ruby_Woo says:

No one else had left. Not really.

Fergie has been absolutely torn to shreds and still hangs around like a lost puppy. Her daughter who could easily have gotten married somewhere nice in Italy (away from all the attention her dad brings) just HAD to have a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Margaret chose the title over the man she loved and was miserable (and an alcoholic) for the rest of her life.

Even Edward in exile was shushed away and depended on a Royal stipend. If he was allowed back to England, he would have gone back in a heartbeat.

        These people are professional beggars.

The only one I can think of that’s tried to move away was Diana. There’s recordings of her saying she imagines herself re-married to someone foreign and living abroad. But I guess she also wanted to be near her children too. I do wonder where she would end up if she was alive.

Harry and Meghan are the only ones that said ‘no thanks – we’re good’ and I think it’s really messed with a lot of these people’s sense of reality because they just cannot imagine that you might not want this life.

They didn’t expect her to go so soon and they didn’t expect him to go with her.

      • Poisonella says:

Still think the whole trashing of Meghan and Harry was to give Andrew a pass until they could get his story straight. They were collateral damage.

  5. line says:

Honestly Kate is pathetic and suffers from special snowflake syndrome. Whenever Meghan’s friends was speaking to the press, it was always to the American press and they never mentioned the Cambridges. They only talk about Meghan and the behavior of the English tabloids. Then unlike Kate, Meghan lives her best life, she has a husband who loves her, a healthy child protected from the press, a mother who taught her to be independent and hardworking and very loyal friends. She has nothing to gain from attacking Kate because only people who have a miserable life and who are angry about that like Kate spend their life attacking others.

    • Chrissy says:

Exactly. Well said, line. They are desperately spinning…. out of control. I can just imagine Unable screeching “do something!!!!!” at Cain.

    • Jaded says:

@line: “…only people who have a miserable life and who are angry about that like Kate spend their life attacking others.”

That says it all doesn’t it.

    • Maevo says:

      Amen!

    • L4frimaire says:

Exactly this. There is zero benefit to Meghan saying anything about this dumb article because this has nothing to do with her, no matter how much they try to throw her name in there. Meghan is moving forward and does not need this. Why wallow in that negativity, what for? There are real, serious problems in this world. Kate wants to throw her toys out of the pram, that’s her business and her inept husbands. All they do is whine, complain, and blame. So boring and tone deaf.

  6. Sofia says:

I know these people lack common sense but come on. Who has more power in getting things published in a magazine in 2020?

    a) A woman who was a writer and left in the early 2000s
    or
    b) Tatler’s editor-in-chief in 2020 and is/was Kate’s friend at uni and who’s mother was, on at least one occasion, having lunch with her.

And even if Jessica and Meghan “plotted” this why didn’t they stop Tatler from calling Meghan “the biggest social climber” last year? Why didn’t they stop the snarky articles towards Meghan? They couldn’t do all that but managed to somehow get a sneaky article written against Kate where her friend (or at least acquaintance) is the editor-in-chief? Why didn’t he stop it?

God, these people give Meghan too much power.

    • Crbnftprnt says:

And the writer of the article, has trashed Meghan every chance she got. the contortions people go through to blame Meghan. SMH

  7. Talie says:

I saw this conspiracy flying around Twitter – it was just based off some random comment on a Daily Mail article. Honestly, I think they wrote this whole article based off that one anonymous comment, which is bonkers.

Trust, the tabloids don’t still want to be covering this – they want to help Kate and William hide it, but they didn’t count on Tatler digging their heels in. But really, why should they give in? Print magazines need all the buzz they can get. To bury this story would be foolish.

    • Ginger says:

The comment was also more than likely a bot because it’s exact wording was on twitter, tumblr and Instagram. The Sun wrote an article based on a bot comment so they can tie Meghan to it in some way.

A lot of people don’t like Kate or the Middletons. This is article is proof of that.

    • Hope says:

I don’t know why they want to help William and Kate so much? Is it the lawsuit or being called about for Straight Outta Compton? Look at the attention Tatler has gotten. Are they scared about a possible Leveson 2?

    • jess says:

it’s not from a daily mail comment. Cambridge stans are circulating that Meghan’s camp is behind this tatler article ever since it was released.

      • Tessa says:

And last year the rumors circulated that Meghan “made up” the story of William and Rose.

    • Greywacke says:

I may be late to tinfoil hat theory, but does anyone wonder if KP or W&K are behind some bot activity? I mean, if they can artificially boost their IG numbers why not go to this length to ensure popularity if there no love between the brothers anymore.

  8. Just a thought says:

Why should Meghan care about Tattler article? She is enjoying her life. Just because her friend sister-in-law may had something to do not that Meghan was involved.

  9. Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

and Meghan and Harry-or just Harry- are supposed to come begging to return in one years time, right?

and Harry is fixing his relationship with William because he is the fragile one and misses his big bro, right?

and Meghan is still furious that she will not be Queen because she was too dumb to count Harry´s place in the line of succession, right?

and Meghan, who worked her whole life and had a career, was a social climber with an obsession with the RF, right?

Well, people often attribute to others traits and problems that are theirs, so…

    • Tessa says:

Now HARRY is supposed to take Archie away from the “bad mother” and run back to be with his brother because they are close and Kate is so “supportive” of him. Heaven help Archie if he is anywhere near the Cambridges! Oh and Kate wants a BIG HOllywood career which is “why” she married Harry. Who ARE these people?

  10. K.T says:

Princess Karen is all upset so let’s blame the black lady! Quick, call up the tabloid cops to make up a story!!! Lol

  11. Seraphina says:

I thank them for the hilarious entertainment during these times. And yes, sometimes there is no mental chess, maybe we are giving Wills and Kate too much credit. I also think the Artistos have their fingerprints on this. Maybe they were told the title of the piece and decided to put Katie in her place.

  12. Erinn says:

I think a lot of us almost want Meghan to do ONE petty thing at this point, which probably doesn’t help haha. I don’t for a second believe she was involved in any of this – why now? Why after all the sh-t she had to put up with would she bother getting involved directly OR indirectly now that she’s living far away from these bozos with her husband and beautiful baby.

At the end of the day – Meghan is a much better person than I would have been in a similar circumstance. I’d have wanted to burn the whole thing down to the ground. But she’s shown time and time again that she’s the bigger person, and so damn kind. I don’t think she would want someone to feel the kind of horrible feelings that she’s felt. She just seems like a genuinely good person, and the more I see that the more I love her. I liked her well enough before, but I’m kind of at the over the moon point.

    • windyriver says:

The closest thing to petty I can think of Meghan doing is her wardrobe for the “farewell RF” visit in March. Those fabulously vibrant colors, that photo under the umbrella praised everywhere at the time as iconic, her red dress matching Harry’s uniform and huge applause at the military event. A multilayered message to the family, the media, and W&K. It makes me smile to remember it, especially with Kate’s attitude at the church service – Meghan in the jewel green dress with the cape, right after Will and Kate’s skedaddle off to Ireland to avoid them/pull the focus, and Kate’s theme dressing while there.

It was masterful, a reminder she can bring it when she needs to, and after what they all put her through, who can blame her.

      • Erinn says:

Yes! Her wardrobe choices for those events were just fantastic, and it really showed how much she can shine. It was very much a “well, guess you don’t need this!” kind of move, and more of a revenge by living your best life, if that makes sense. But my god – the amount of times where she COULD have easily done something petty, and chose not to is wild.

      • Harla says:

and lets not forget the school children cheering her on! While I don’t think Meghan was being petty, I think she used the Sussex’s Farewell Tour to show the family, the press and everyone else what she is taking with her when she left. And to that I say “Good for her!!” You keep living your best life Meghan and we’ll continue to be inspired by you!

      • BayTampaBay says:

I am still very curious what Future Charles III really thought about Sussexit.

      • Becks1 says:

@bay I think he’s disappointed. I think he’s very disappointed in Will and Kate and I think he really thought that Harry and Meghan could help pick up some of the slack. I don’t think he had any desire to see his younger son live 10 hours away by plane (is that how far it is, or farther?) with one of his grandchildren, and I do think there is fondness between him and Meghan.

But, he absolutely could have done something to prevent Sussexit so….you reap what you sow.

      • windyriver says:

@Erinn, @Harla – plus at the Commonwealth Day service, the lining of Harry’s suit jacket matching Meghan’s green dress. There was a statement.

Re: pettiness, she’s a bigger person than me, too! Among other things, I see her being restrained for Harry’s sake. This is his family, his only sibling, how conflicted must he have been over what went on the last few years before the decision to leave. Meghan herself at least wasn’t dependent on the vipers around her, as distressing as it undoubtedly was. She had her husband, her mother, and an independent network of friends; and her self worth isn’t built on titles, tiaras and status.

@Becks1, @Bay – Charles must know what Harry and Meghan could have added going forward. Remember Charles walking Meghan down the aisle, the photo of him with Doria on his arm; I believe there was a moment when the RF did have a choice to turn in a different direction for the future, and let it go, whether through conscious choice, lack of insight, lack of courage or just plain inertia. It was easier to let things go the way they always have, and yes, Charles is paying the price for a complete lack of leadership.

Will and Kate are lucky, really – unlike previous generations (Margaret, Andrew), Harry and Meghan aren’t jealous of their position or interested in competing for the spotlight. Problem is, Will and Kate (and Carole) think the Sussex popularity is about PR and better photo ops, when it’s really about putting in work and showing you care. I’ve always thought Will and Kate could go a long way towards developing their own charisma if they showed up more, worked on some skills (read your notes Will, and learn to talk, Kate), and showed real interest. Instead, their laziness is evident is whatever they do, and they don’t do much. So, here we are.

      • ArtHistorian says:

        @windyriver

My father doesn’t follow royals at all, especially not the British ones – but he really noticed how Charles walked Meghan down the aisle and how solicitous he was of Doria. He actually commented several times how kind it was of Charles and this is a man that usually only says something of the Danish royals when there’s a big event.

I do think Charles knows how good his actions at the wedding made him look. I do think that he tried to help Harry and Meghan by setting up an office for them independently of KP – but he should have supported them publicly and I can only wonder why he didn’t because I do think that he knows that they would have been a great asset to the institution.

      • windyriver says:

@ArtHistorian – so interesting to hear your father’s perceptions. I agree, Charles knows how he looked that day. And yes, he helped get H&M out from under KP (William’s) thumb with an independent office. But no public support, nothing at all was done to redirect the hateful public narrative propagated by the press, courtiers, staff, and family members.

On the basis of his work over the years, I’ve been inclined to give Charles credit for more intelligence, and better feelings, than his public persona might indicate. Who knows why he’s done nothing here. The upshot though, is that lazy, petulant, William’s been protected and elevated (remember the Xmas photo op of TQ and three heirs making fruitcake); the biracial family member and her husband, representatives to Commonwealth organizations, have been driven out, and the despicable Andrew continues to be coddled by mommy, no matter what. So despite Charles’ work as the most effective POW in history, and his position as immediate heir, the overall image is of a monarchy that still stands for absolutely nothing, except self-preservation.

    • morrigan01 says:

I hope Meghan is at least having a good laugh over this nonsense with a glass of Tignanello. I know I would be if I were her. (I don’t think she really engages Social Media like twitter much anymore, but I’m sure Harry *does* and maybe he told her about it).

      • Erinn says:

I would bet that he at least has a few friends sharing in the laughs and keeping him up to date if he’s not using socials himself.

I hope they’re having a good laugh, too.

    • Ruby_Woo says:

Her pettiness was looking serene and unbothered at the Commonwealth Ceremony while Sophie and Kate had faces like thunder.

      • Amelia says:

I loved every minute of it! Meghan was waving and smiling like “Hey Haters!”

Especially since it was right after W&K managed to get H&M name off the programs. W&K said they didn’t walk in the processional to keep the peace, but does that sound like something either one of them would do???? I belive that Charles or Lizzie made W&K walk in like “normal” people because their bad behavior. I also think that was the reason for Kate’s “thunder face” and Harry’s sadness.

    • Bella says:

      @BayTampaBay
      Very fair re Charles.
That’s how I see it, too.

      • Lady D says:

When gutless Charles didn’t stick up for his newborn grandson being compared to a chimpanzee, I was done with him. My royal family has been reduced to the Canadian, now American branch of that family only.

      • Tessa says:

Charles bent over backwards with super expensive PR for Camilla and made her non-negotiable. He does this for her yet lets his grandson Archie get treated that way in the media. Archie may see this horrible thing, and wonder why his grandfather let this happen.

  13. Becks1 says:

LOL at “sources say Anna Pasternak is friends with someone who sort of knows Meghan.” But….I’m sure Anna Pasternak and Richard Dennen are also friends with people who REALLY know Kate.

    1) Meghan isn’t going to bash Kate in the press like this. It’s not her style. I would say “full stop” except I have other points to make, but let me just make clear that I do not for a hot second believe Meghan had ANYTHING to do with this. Meghan has no interest in bringing Kate down. If she did, there would have been some pointed barbs in that People article from last year.

    2) if Meghan was going to drop some tidbits about Kate in the press, it wouldn’t include comments like “very Buckinghamshire” or how there isn’t dog hair in Anmer Hall and it wouldn’t bring up things like Doors to Manual again. those aren’t things that an American would say, at least not after only two years in the UK, and those aren’t the reasons there was bad blood between Kate and Meghan. And she wouldn’t do it via Tatler.

    3) Let us not forget that this article ALSO slams Meghan and harry.

    • Nic919 says:

Tatler has treated Meghan very poorly for years and so it makes zero sense to cooperate with them. Besides this article is not complimentary to Meghan either. Anna Pasternak has been clear that she doesn’t like Meghan and to repeat a camb troll theory and publish it is just ridiculous.

    • morrigan01 says:

Thanks @Becks1, and agreed. A lot for the put downs in that article was SO specifically UK. “Posh” UK, “Aristocratic” UK. I mean, the dog hair thing? An Americans first thought would actually be “Well, no dog hair means it’s clean. No dog hair being there isn’t an insult.”

It’s why many of us Americans knew right away Thomas Markel had been coached wrt some interviews. There were things that he would say or were attributed to him saying that an American wouldn’t say.

      • Bella says:

Yup – us Brits, too. The use of the word “Chav” stands out – only used in the UK and fell out of use some years ago.

  14. VS says:

The only thing I see if that headline picture………my gosh that conference really showed the mediocrity of Kate & William……..my goodness, the ease of Meghan on that stage was probably unbelievable to some! the RF only needs idiots to marry in because most of them aren’t that bright with the exception of Charles; It is so shameful that Charles has the jealousy gene…….LOL

  15. Louise177 says:

I don’t know how people think this logical. How can an American former royal have more power than the future King and Queen? If there was choice The Tatler would choose the Cambridges. It’s also annoying that all of the articles don’t mention that the Cambridges are friends with the Editor In Chief. Why would reporters, one who hasn’t worked there in years, have more sway than the boss?

    • Lowrider says:

The Cambridge stans and Meghan haters lack critical thinking skills and basic common sense.

    • MiaThermopolis says:

I kid you not I once saw that Meghan’s lawyer via her connection with Amal Clooney are keeping the Windsors on leash so they don’t leak the supposedly fake pregnancy and surrogacy regarding baby Archie. They give Meghan and her friends too much power.

  16. Harper says:

Some of the meanest quotes were from the Norfolk area– the craftsman who said Carole was the worst. “A visitor” and “another visitor” to Anmer who called the decor very Buckinghamshire. “Carole is a terrible snob, alleges a friend of Donna Air.” These quotes were from people the Cambridges let inside their home and not from Jessica Mulroney’s camp.

It’s interesting to note the use of “alleges” in the quote from a friend of Donna Air. Perhaps the Tatler legal team felt that came too close to name calling, so recommended using “alleges” to cover their butts.

    • Chaine says:

Sorry if I missed this in an earlier post, but can anyone explain why is Buckinghamshire style home decor an insult?

      • Hope says:

        New money vs. old.

      • jess says:

buckinghamshire is where people go to when they make their first million. It’s where all the new money people settle.

      • Jaded says:

People like new rock stars, has-been entertainers (think Scary Spice, etc.), tech entrepreneurs, etc. generally gravitate to Buckinghamshire because having a posh country “manse” there is less expensive than Norfolk. They also tend to go totally overboard on decor because they’re “new money”.

  17. Ali says:

Someone has screen shots of Kate’s fans when they first read tatler.

    They loved the story.

It was only until their was a backlash did they change their tweets and come up with this stupid theory.

I do hope tatler posts another statement.

    • Ginger says:

I wish Tatler would but I highly doubt it. They won’t defend Meghan. They hate her more than Kate.

      • Ruby_Woo says:

I was really upset with that ‘social climber’ article, but after this I realise that Tatler is just a really bitchy magazine (much like thier readers). They even make fun of people who have tarmacked driveways and DON’T have dog hair all over their homes – gross!

The only difference is that only one of these Duchesses really cares what Tatler thinks…and it’s not the one living it up in LA.

And the fact Tatler bothered to do a review of Tyler Perry’s house – a new money american black man’s house!? Means they care more about Meghan than Meghan would ever about them. They’re probably secretly jealous that Tyler’s house isn’t covered in dog hair.

      • L4frimaire says:

@Ruby, there was an old Meghan IG post that showed her dogs on her bed. She said they were only allowed on the bed on laundry day. Definitely no dog haired covered furniture in that LA house, lol.

  18. S808 says:

They seems a bit obsessed with Meghan tbh…she has never had a mean word said about the Cambridges. She’s never had anything written by the Cambridges period. Do they assume it’s her because it’s something they’ve done? Are they really in denial that their aristo set doesn’t like them?

    • Bren says:

Yep, perhaps William is as insecure as Kate about her not being fully accepted by the artisto set. It’s probably a big blow to his ego.

    • Ruby_Woo says:

I think its more The Sun is just writing any old crap knowing that Meghan’s name gets clicks. They are the bottom of the barrel and are banned from some cities.

As for the Cambridges, the only time I’ve heard them take on the Press like this was reporting about Rose, which conveniently all the other papers reporting this beef has coincidentally failed to mention.

I think that is what really spooks them.

  19. MsIam says:

The Sun and Dan Wootton are the worst. Well, the Cambridge’s are THE worst of course. But why no tweet from Dan demanding the Cambridge’s “stop the lawsuit immediately! “? As for Meghan being blamed, it’s ridiculous. That Pasternak woman wrote a horrible article insinuating Harry would end up drifting through life like the Duke of Windsor, I doubt the Sussexes would have anything to do with her.

  20. Lizzie says:

Meghan is in LA not giving a single thought about kate. Kate and her stans have always been the ones who are obsessed. H&M live in a big world now, W&K are big fish in a small pond.

  21. Ginger says:

I think a lot of Cambridge fans/ Meghan haters are mad that people are not focusing on the Meghan part of this Tatler article. People are supposed to be mad at Meghan for not following protocol regarding tights and they are supposed to be mad at Meghan for making Kate work herself into an early grave.
Instead they are focusing on Carol being a social climbing snob and Kate being incredibly tone deaf regarding her workload in a pandemic and also trying to dictate someone’s wedding. Before the outrage on this article, Cambridge fans were loving this Tatler piece and now they are blaming Meghan. This article didn’t do what Kate thought it would so now it’s blame Meghan time. Meghan lives in Kate’s head but I’m sure Meghan is like “Kate who?”

    • Liz version 700 says:

Part of the problem is exactly this! All of England is like Kate who?

  22. BUBS says:

You have to be very delusional and have deep seated animosity towards Meghan to believe this bullshit! A white woman gets smeared by her rich friends in a PR campaign gone wrong and some idiots find a way to blame it on the black woman who is minding her own business and has clearly shown that she doesn’t have a petty bone in her body. These so-called journalists are a disgrace!
By the way, I saw that the Queens CWT which is headed by H and M tweeted in support of Black Lives Matter. I hope H and M become more vocal as regards social justice issues. Now that they’re out of the bubble, I hope they use their platform to highlight more hot-button issues. No time to banter words with small minded folks please!

  23. greenmonster says:

It caused her unnecessary pain to be called unhappy and feeling trapped? Or that she works as hard as a CEO?
The Tatler article itself gives me a lot of joy, because this is gossip at it’s best. Blaming the whole thing on Meghan again, worries me. As others have said here, there are people who believe this crap. People without any basic intellectual equipment will believe that poor Karen has been dragged through this article, which caused her so much pain, she couldn’t work for the rest of the year.

    • Scorpion says:

Just read comments about how a car crash should be arranged for Meghan. I genuinely believe the media won’t be happy until something happens to her. If she kills herself a La Caroline Flack, who’s hands will her blood be on…

      • BUBS says:

No weapon formed against Meghan or Harry shall prosper. Every evil plan against them will not succeed. One by one, their enemies will start exposing themselves. I literally pray for these two every other day…you have no idea…and I know so many others do too. God will keep protecting them!

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Scorpion – To be fair, we need to maintain a clear distinction between the British Tabloid Media and the BTL commentariat posting on articles supplied by the online British Tabloid Media.

I view comment sections of most article I read (if there are comment sections) and the majority (90%) of the unhinged comments seem to me to be coming from The Daily Mail Online, I have viewed negativity comments on the BRF posted BTL on Guardian articles I have read (The Guardian does few BRF stories) but the comments are not unhinged.

  24. Eyfalia says:

Strangely this claim was made with nearly identical text by three “different” trolls. On Tumblr,, Instagram and another blog, as was posted with screen grabs on twitter. That was around May 27th, and it reached this smear rag on 1st of June, 4 days. Mmmmmhhh …. weird! Should one of these troll accounts be somebody from this rag?

  25. lily says:

Anna Pasternak HATES Meghan and Harry but especially Meghan. She was BBC Afternoon Live and her comments so ugly and ridiculous, Dr Shola shut her down in the best way by simply saying “You don’t know the royal way, doesn’t how much you studied them, you’re not royal, Meghan is” and that went viral and the BBC presenter literally laughed at her.

  26. sesame says:

tbh, given the current circumstances, I find it so GROSS that Kensington Palace is still trying to sow seeds of doubt re: Meghan especially on such a trivial matter in all respects, and W&K need to grow a backbone and toughen up and look at themselves in the mirror because this pettiness is their doing and not even a small boomerang back to whatever shenanigans their office has been up to in the last few years. This doesn’t sit with me well AT ALL and the optics of it all given BLM and racial injustice just make me want to VOM.

  27. Scorpion says:

Well, Daily Fail has just released an article linking Meghan to the Catherine the Great Story.

  28. aquarius64 says:

Bottom line: Kate and the Middletons got b1tch $lapped by Tatler and they still see the mark and feel the sting. Pushing this latest conspiracy theory an in-law of Meghan’s friend is tied to this proves the TT’s point – FFQC and her clan are trash.

  29. Nic919 says:

Really not the best time to privilege a rich white woman’s tears at this moment.
Will be interesting to see how their IPSO complaint plays out. Hasn’t done much for Harry for legitimate issues.

  30. morrigan01 says:

These fools are still trying to make it like Meghan gives two s**ts about Kate & Will and that whole Toff circle. Because that would be the only reason she or any of her friends would ever talk to Tatler. Because the Toffs ARE the audience of Tatler. They aren’t some big, world-wide publication like Vogue and Vanity Fair, two mags which Meghan has actual *current* ties to. Ties that are much deeper than a friend’s sister-in-law who edited the mag 10+ years ago!

Tatler is a magazine for Toffs, by Toffs. Why they hell would Meghan want to say anything to them? Why the hell would Meghan care about Kate and her family’s class station and wanting Kate to be seen by the Toffs as “common” and all that other stuff class-station stuff? In what world does Meghan – who was snidely called the #1 social climber by that mag – GO to that mag to get Kate to look bad in this way?

Once again, racism makes people stupid and throw out all logic to get the illogical to work.

  31. ABritGuest says:

Hhm to be honest I don’t think this is from KP. It was a troll theory and tabloids (desperate for content) need little incentive to drag Meghan into this- they use her name for clicks& to demonise more which their readers obviously enjoy.

  32. Yoyo says:

The Dailyfail needs Meghan name for clicks.
There is a video on Twitter of Meghan at ten years old at her school protesting the Iraq war, her friend’s brother was going to Iraq and he thought his brother would get kill, so Meghan organized the protest.
The Headteacher said, Meghan was confident and didn’t like injustice, so all the folks that said, being an actress is the reason she can speak in front crowds, no she started speaking in front of crowds at an early age.

  33. Mumbles says:

Even if Pasternak is still friends with Mulroney she got a lot of the Turnip Toff set to dish dirt, as well as Donna Air’s friend. Maybe she had a bias going in, but she got third parties to confirm it. She didn’t just make this stuff up.

    • MiaThermopolis says:

I found this claim of Vanessa and Anna connection to be reaching for the star! Dennen and Anna are both very well connected in the aristo circle.

      • carmen says:

Have to admit I’m a bit skeptical too. Pasternak wrote her Princess Di book in the early ’90’s which would make her seem quite a bit older than Mulroney (assuming she didn’t write the book in her teens) – not that it’s impossible to have older friends, but still…

  34. RoyalBlue says:

hilarious, this is like we are back in secondary school with the Cambs sounding so childish. i admit i am one who still thinks it’s all a ruse to cover for andrew and at the same time the Cambs love seeing themselves plastered all over the front page while trashing Meghan.

however i love regurgitating tidbits like the news that Cain goes ballistic when the Sussexes are in the news or issues a release. In these technology days, it’s just a matter of time before these fits of incandescent rage gets filmed and goes public.

  35. Cosmo says:

This is all a distraction for something. We can be guaranteed that if people start putting the blame at Meghan like they usually do the RF will be silent to protect her. We all know Harry and Meghan could care less what those royal aholes are doing.

  36. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

My grandmother’s half brother married a woman whose aunt was related to Crippen’s next door neighbour.

No, she wasn’t. But the ridiculousness of these ‘ooh! Squirrel!’ posts mean that rumour becomes truth becomes undeniable fact. The media are playing a deadly little game.

I would have thought, given the recent CW tweet, that Meghan would be more interested in the travesty of George Floyd’s death, the insane Orange Sociopath’s wicked response, and the justified protests breaking out in US cities. Not some dull, provincial, unimaginative woman with a horrendously pushy mother, an ocean away, who tried to bridezilla her wedding and failed.

    • Beach Dreams says:

That final paragraph is part of the problem for the tabloids, the Cambridges, and even the aristocrats. They would’ve been so much happier if Meghan were as desperate as Kate to be part of these circles, if she devoted her attention to the petty whims of these people. Contrary to their delusional thinking, not everyone wants to live such a shallow life just so they can say “I mingle with the aristocracy!!!”.

  37. Ruby_Woo says:

“She is very well connected in the US.”

Wait… I thought she was a social climber that only cared about wearing tiaras and wanted to be Queen, and would be lost without the protection the Crown.

How are they going to pay for security? How are they going to make money? How are they going to get any sort of interest unless they are part of the Royal Family?

You mean she has connections and might actually be successful without the support of the British Media *faints*

  38. Vanessa says:

This whole conspiracy theories reminds me of the episode of its always sunny in Philadelphia where Charles and Mac get a job for health insurance. Charles has a conspiracy board that’s what this reminds me of the Cambridge’s and their stan are trying really hard to make this Meghan faults. The mental gymnastics the Cambridge’s and the royal reporters do to blame Meghan for everything because she her friend sister in law work at the Tatler in the early 2000 been a decade since this supposedly friend worked at the magazine and most of her co workers are probably no longer working their . The Cambridge’s are just throwing anything and everything but the kitchen sink Kate is actually friends with the editors she went to school with him and the report that wrote this article is supposedly friendly with the Cambridge’s so how is this Meghan fault. Kate just doesn’t want to admit that the crowd she so desperately wanted to be a part has never ever like her or her family they tolerate her and talked shit behind back and now they let the whole world know what they truly think of kate she a joke .

    • Nic919 says:

I love that meme and the show itself. Every once in a while I toss out “wild card bitches!” to my friends.

  39. Bohemian Angel says:

I can’t believe the audacity these people have, are they really going to blame the black girl for an article they didn’t like… , they are so stupid, can they not read the room right now, it’s blackout Tuesday, most of the shows on tv are talking about black lives matter and these two are STILL coming with the racism, they can’t even hold it down for one fucking day!
Even Piers Morgan today admitted the smear against Meghan may have been an act of racism and how he basically participated in it because he didn’t see it as racism but today his eyes have been open (for how long I don’t know!).
The royals have always been racist but I believe the Middleton’s are far worse and Bill has been happy enough to follow them. All of the royal family need to be called out about this especially Bill and Karen!

    • Harla says:

Piers Morgan said what??? Whose a$$ is he kissing cuz you know he didn’t change.

      • Bohemian Angel says:

Don’t worry, he will change his mind tomorrow, he’s just jumping on the bandwagon for #blackouttuesday!
The old Piss Morgan will be back to his old tired gammon self!

      • morrigan01 says:

He’s probably trying to get in/break back into the US media market, and is using this to again try and do so. Someone here said a few days ago that his slowly changing tone wrt Meghan (he apparently said he may have gone too far in his criticism of her or something) was in hope of landing work in the US since attacking Meghan in the US is pretty much a no-go here.

But yeah, he doesn’t really care, I agree 100%.

    • Ruby_Woo says:

I caught the end of his segment where he was speaking to several Black British activists and commentators and talking about racism.

The absolute front! I remember when he was literally screaming at Afua Hirsch and saying that it was disgusting for her to suggest that there was racism in the UK. He was so awful and violent towards her and now he’s having a little pity party!

For weeks after Meghan left, the UK networks kept on running ‘is the UK racist?’ segments with all white panels and just one Black person and the gaslighting was disgusting.

I missed what he said about Meghan, I just caught the end of it.

    • yinyang says:

The death of George Floyd and so many others, the overt racism in thrid world countries, colourism and the histroy of racism in the world, people are waking up and anti-racist people all over the world of all colours are protesting US, Greece, New Zealand… people are waking up, we wont stand by as people mistreat our equals. Meanwhile, W&K haven’t showed any interest in the matter, they’re out promoting themselves as usual and all the racist dumb white bored housewives are still preaching day and night about how it’s important to be kind to Kate. If being kind means blindly handing over taxpayer funds that could be going to build others up, every year on end than no it is not okay to be kind!! The RF are MULTI billionaires. MUlit billionaires!! I can’t wrap my head around that, that could buy like a Hundred Thousand Million people a million dollar house each?!?! And still the disaparity grows, be kind to Kate, while some 8 year old lies in a shelter home right now staring up at the cieling. Being kind to the RF is being mean to everyoneelse. Every educated person is getting tired of this, no matter how many people the RF pay off to keep the gravy train going and setting up zoom calls with people they know wont ask difficult questions, intelligent people are seeing right through them, W&K are not going to come out of it unscathed, if they come out of it at all.

    • Lowrider says:

Piers Morgan is an opportunist flake. He blows with wind and has no standards.

  40. Annalise says:

This is what I STILL don’t understand; if Richard Dennen is such good buddies with Kate, WHY did he allow this article to publish???? He’s the EDITOR. he can put the brakes on or shit-can any Tatler article he wants! WHY did he allow this?? He’s not stupid. He knew full well how the article would read and furthermore, he clearly seems to have turned his back on Kate in the aftermath. What happened??? Did they have a falling out???

    • Ruby_Woo says:

I think they are just bitchy people. It may have been a completely sincere piece to make her look good, but because they are so snidey and bitchy; they didn’t realise how it would come across. Also, they are probably used to being mean so thought the KP would keep their mouth shut, but when KP spoke out, it got their backs up.

Or maybe in their circles they thought Kate got a bit too big for her boots and wanted to bring her down a peg or too?

Or maybe they just know what sells and being shady does?

Thing is, all these comments about Kate being lazy, unfriendly, her middle-class family being social climbers were all constant narratives before Meghan came on to the scene. And once Meghan came, Kate was an angel.

Now that Meghan is gone, things are just reverting back to what they once were – nature is healing itself.

    • Jaded says:

My tin foil tiara theory is that it’s something to do with William – Dennen may very well have some incriminating evidence on William’s alleged affair with Rose Hanbury that he’s sitting on. I can see William getting ugly with him and demanding that the article paint Kate in a worshipful manner, but Dennen also has to appeal to the Toffs who, as we know, have banished Kate from the Norfolk kingdom. Hence the thinly veiled shade instead of slavish embiggening.

    • morrigan01 says:

This is just how the Toff circles are, from what I understand. They’ll loyal to each other when it comes to them vs non-Toffs. But within their little circle there appears to be a lot of backbiting, rivalries and other stuff . . . to go along with the sleeping around.

These people are all friends because they are all part of the same social class/social set, not because they all genuinely like each other or something.

    • MiaThermopolis says:

He’s “friend” with Kate. Richard dennen is grandson (or great grandson) of an earl. He has no title but he grew up with “the set”. then you have kate middy with her council estate princess of a mother and a father whose grandmother is a heiress. Dennen will always side with the toffs because they’re his “real friends”

    • February Pisces says:

I think kate has done some shady things to both harry and rose, two blood born aristocrats. I did have a theory at the time about the middletons having something to do with the initial rose story being leaked in the sun, as a warning shot to her to back off her man or else. I don’t think they expected it to spread all over twitter. The thing is if Williams affair is exposed, Kate gets to play the ‘diana’ card, with her man having broken her heart. The fact they had a long relationship before hand, makes the betrayal even worse, where as Charles and Diana were more of an arrangement. Rose took this warning and may have backed off, they know more eyes will be on them now more than ever and she probably doesn’t want the camilla/Meghan treatment in the press. If they came out as a couple now, people will remember that cheating rumours from last year, making them both look like the villains in this story and Kate the victim. It was such a ‘diana’ move. I know people always say William will never get divorced, but the fact kate is so threatened And is clinging on to her position for dear life, to me says she knows he could very well pull the trigger at any time. I think she was scared Rose and William may have been talking about their future.

This is where harry and Meghan also come in. They were thrown under the bus to deflect the cheating rumours by William, but with harry and Meghan gone, Kate wins again cos she is now needed more than ever. They can’t risk another scandal, and they are already 3 royals down. Kate is safe, the public loves her and thinks she’s wonderful. Any shady behaviour she’s done goes unpunished. Kate wins both battles… or so she thinks. She has managed to defeat anyone who is a threat to her royal survival. There is one inevitable battle still to come…Cambridge vs Cambridge.

      • Ruby_Woo says:

Absolutley! I don’t think William would have intentionally did this because they really don’t need a Charles 2.0.

After Charles affair; Prince Andrew’s peado ways and Meghan leaving (which is getting mentioned a lot right now after the BLM protests and how racism is shown in the UK).

Any hint of a divorce would make Kate the injured party and I genuinely think it would ruin the Monarchy. The pandemic has seen so many people really struggle, to see an entitled Prince cheating on his ‘perfect’ wife and mother to his children would be the final blow.

I think that’s why the RRs are also quite scared to cover this (along with the actual legal threats). If the Monarchy goes, so do they.

  41. Annalise says:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 200% pro H&M, I’m thrilled about the Tatler article. I just don’t understand Dennen’s motivation, and I’m VERY curious to.

    • bettyrose says:

He doesn’t necessarily have a motivation. Tatler started on a story with one intent, and the interviews took the story in an entirely different direction.

      • ArtHistorian says:

Drama and controversy sell better than fore-lock tugging hagiography. I don’t think there’s any deeper reasons. Dennen’s in it to sell magazines – he wants to keep his job.

      • bettyrose says:

Okay, money/prestige as an editor is a motivation, but I meant he didn’t have a motive in regards to Kate herself. It’s nothing personal.

      • ArtHistorian says:

Yeah, I don’t think it is personal on Dennen’s part. He has a job to do and he’s stepping on Kate to get ahead. It is not the first time a journo has sacrificed a friendship to get ahead professionally.

    • morrigan01 says:

To understand, you have to understand the Toffs and their social circle. (And boy have I been trying to).

There really doesn’t have to be a bigger motive than people in that circle think Kate was getting too “above” herself. It doesn’t matter to them that she’s FFQ. Not when your whole world and social outlook is built on how long and far back your family dates back to and such a thing (how long your family has held a title, etc). Dennen’s a born and bread member of that world, and the mag he is EIC of is the “Society Bible” of that world. If born, bread and raised Toffs like him said this stuff about Kate then, in his mind, why wouldn’t he allow it to be printed? So what if she married the FFK? Doesn’t change where/what class she was born as – at least in their eyes.

These people don’t view their friendships in the same way us regular plebs do. Most of them are friends because they were born and raised as part of the same class, not because they all genuinely like each other.

    • Lowrider says:

The UK is classist and Kate, no matter who she married, is not part of that class.

Kate is embarrassed that the class she desperately wants to be part of rejected her in their class bible.

  42. Charfromdarock says:

All that privilege and wealth and she’s still just an insecure mean girl.

  43. Bella says:

This theory is purely for the benefit of the Kate stans. The article is careful not to assert outright that Meghan is behind this because they know that this is a lie.

  44. bettyrose says:

I had to read that headline several times, and I’m still getting out it that Meghan’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate is somehow involved?

  45. EliseM says:

They know that H and M put out a statement saying that they will no longer respond to any BS stories from these type of publications. What they did not count on was people on the bus grabbing the wheel so each push is a big miss.

  46. Gingerbee says:

The bumbling Shamebridges are getting a dose of their own medicine, and it too bitter to swallow. No one is kissing their asses, so the crybabies are now running to the racist media, to spin to place blame on Meghan.

    • Tessa says:

Maybe Kate will persuade William that her getting pregnant again will garner sympathy since she will bring another “adorable baby” into the world.

      • bettyrose says:

Eh, people have babies for worse reasons. I realize any kids they have will be paid for by taxpayers, and taxpayers aren’t getting off cheap, but with aristo kids I figure they’re being raised by nannies and boarding schools, so I’m not quite as judgmental as I am with people who have kids to save a marriage, solidify a relationship, etc, and will then fully impose their own pathologies onto the kid. George is the only one trapped in a life he didn’t choose.

      • yinyang says:

William should get a vasectomy!!! I know many men that have had one and woman after their second baby had tubes tied. He’s preaching about overpopulation he would be a leading example for once in his life and many men will follow. The world is overpopulated he needs to practice what he preaches or shut up.

      • bettyrose says:

yinyang – we don’t actually know that he hasn’t. With three children and a wandering willie, it’s just the smart thing to do.

  47. L4frimaire says:

This is the royal equivalent of the dog ate my homework. It a
So shows that they are afraid to directly confront Tatler. It was a dumb article but there were some hard unpleasant truths about the Keens in there. The only reason they are doing this is because their constant rebuttals aren’t having the desired effect. This is truly a pathetic attempt at deflection and once again, using the tabloid press to smear Meghan Markle, and another woman no one’s aware of. It’s obvious that the reason they don’t do any real royal “ work” is because the Sussexes are their full time job. They really are going to learn nothing from this episode other than to double down more on blaming the Sussexes for their shortcomings. Seriously, why would anyone who feels any sympathy for these clowns? 🙄

    • windyriver says:

“It’s obvious that the reason they don’t do any real royal ‘work’ is because the Sussexes are their full time job.”

Yup! Made a comment elsewhere, if they spent even half as much effort doing some actual work, they’d be much further ahead. Also agree, they’ll learn nothing, and try to double down on the blame game. Problem is, they’re already starting to lose control of the narrative, and once Harry and Meghan are on the radar again, unshackled by responsibility to the RF and working like they have in the past, the Cambridges may be in for a nasty shock about how well that blame game will work.

Meanwhile, thanks for pointing out Amazon had the digital Tatler issue available. Was happy to spend my $4.99 as a small financial incentive for them to continue down this road.

    • Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

In this case, the dog ate Karen´s right to do school runs because evil Meghan threw their children under the bus!

  48. February Pisces says:

They are actually trying to blame Meghan, for the smear campaign against ….Meghan????

Not enough proof that tatler said KP/ Kate co-operated with the article. Richard kay actually retold the ‘tightsgate’ story, emphasising Kate’s original point of ‘following protocol’, buy saying she ‘wanted to respect the queen’.

So Meghan told tatler about ‘tightsgate’, and Richard kay repeats their same story???

    • bettyrose says:

It would just be so “Meghan” to orchestrate a whole smear campaign against herself to manipulate her husband into leaving England and abandon his dear family. /s

  49. A Guest says:

Can Cain and Keen read the damn room? The entire world, including London, is protesting racism and police brutality and they’re trying to blame the black woman.

    What an utter clusterf@ck…

    • Liz version 700 says:

I agree it seems like reading the room is. Or a Royal Family strength!

  50. Christine says:

Listen, W&K agreed to the article because they needed her to be the fodder/”distraction”. Ahem – Epstein’s Netflix show debut the same week of the Tatler, didn’t it? It used to be that Meg and Harry were the “distraction” when Epstein/Unc Andrew’s disgusting friendship articles would come out. Now they’re making it a big ass deal so the focus is on that as opposed to the Epstein/Royal scandal.

  51. Awkward symphony says:

The fact that these RRs are going past the fact that this piece trashes Meghan is clue to this being part of KP/courtiers shitty attempt for damage control🤦‍♀️ this was also first shared by anti Meghan hate groups on Twitter, another proof that these people have fake accounts/bots or picking up stories about Meghan from these conspiracy sites😡
They seriously think we are that stupid!!! A quick Google search about this writer reveals several anti Meghan articles she wrote prior to this. In fact this is the only critical piece on Kate I could find

  52. Ella says:

Doesn’t explain the other hits written by others though….

The Beauty Edit: Products to make you glow, To revive a lacklustre complexion: ‘To inject some much-needed radiance back into your face while the clinics remain closed,…’ + pic of Kate

How to maintain your Botox, fillers and more during lockdown – this article was initially below the Great profile…

Introducing Ella & Co, James Middleton’s new canine-approved business: ‘Middleton’s team of dogs operate far beyond what pets are traditionally expected to do…’

The Duchess of Cambridge by numbers: Kardashian, private flights, headlines, > cost home renovations

  53. Scorpion says:

BG has a new blind up about what triggered the spat. Apparently, photos were taken of a child.

    • Vanessa says:

Those Blind items are notoriously for being fake And a lot of there information comes for Meghan haters who will make things up about her . And then you have people come on here repeating these outlandish lies I doubt the fallout between Kate and Meghan had to do with pictures of the kids that just another lie being thrown around first it was the tights that didn’t outrage people then it was the length of the kids gowns now it’s pictures. The Cambridge’s Stan’s just want a reason to justified Kate petty nasty behavior towards Meghan it was Meghan day not kate . She absolutely had no right to try to pull her weight around and bully Meghan.

    • February Pisces says:

Kate also recently sent them a blind item right after meghans uk farewell bad bitch tour, right after she slayed in the looks and style department,’ Meghan is so jealous of Kate’s beauty’. Lol 😂 I couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t think even Stevie wonder would say that was BS.

Then there was also another blind recently how Charles has dementia and needs care, and how the queen love kate so much she’s grooming her, and all the family are jealous of their close relationship. Lol

Seriously this woman is unstoppable, how are the other family member letting her and William get away with this shit. Kate’s done more damage than Diana at this point cause Diana never made a blood royal leave.

  54. Bunny says:

FTA: “But a royal source said: “Pasternak’s article caused immense unnecessary pain for Kate”

Immense unnecessary pain. As opposed to what they’ve done to Meghan, which was somehow necessary?

  55. Emily says:

I’d like to see more articles about how terrible William is. Kate’s not innocent but the Tatler article is a bit classist and if they want to play that hands then go for the guy who was born into it.

  56. Natasha says:

Pooor poor Duchess Kate. schadenfreude is a mean emotion but I sure feel it when I think of that sour puss face in that cathedral for the Commonwealth Commemorations.

  57. A says:

This is just straight up lies, and it’s appalling that it’s been floated as an actual possibility. People are really grasping at straws but the truth is that Anna Pasternak has been on the royal beat for long enough to know who to talk to about these issues. She was chosen for a very specific reason to write this article. And the Tatler know how to smell rats in their midst better than most of these royal reporters do. The print aristocratic and royal gossip because this is their crowd, they’re not going to go off the words of an unconnected employee even if she does work on their magazine.

  58. MJM says:

I don’t think Meghan has a vindictive bone in her body and would never do this. She is a class act all the way. It may well be Rose’s revenge though – don’t know much about her or her character but I imagine she has allies.

  59. Marivic says:

Meghan is too busy commiserating with victims of Black Lives Matter to think about petty Kate. She has bigger concerns than the Cambridges. She’s left them, remember?
