The approval of immigration reform in the United States would allow the deficit to be reduced by $900 billion, said the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on Tuesday.

In its estimates, the budget office points out that the new law project HR15, presented by democrats in the House of Representatives, would manage to reduce deficit by $900 billion over a period of 20 years, estimating that the approval of the new law, which is very similar to project S744 approved by the Senate in 2013, would save the country about $200 billion in the first ten years and close to $700 billion in the second decade.

The estimate assumes that the approval of immigration reform would increase the population by 10 million in over 10 years and another 8 million undocumented immigrants who would become citizens through new policies.

Project HR15, led by California democrats Nancy Pelosi, and which has over 200 votes in favor, was presented in October, 2013 and is based in the proposal approved in the Senate which includes a path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants illegally living in the United States, and an amendment on security, recommending permanent supervision for five years in charge of an independent commission for the use of funds destined for Border Patrol, estimated to be $30 billion.

Nancy Pelosi pointed out that the CBO report shows that it's time to approve immigration reform with which would help increase wages, upgrade training in small businesses, stimulate investment, innovation and promoting job creations, and upgrading worker's protection, according to Fox News.

On Wednesday, March 27, democrats will resort to a measure that forces republican legislators to call for a vote on the immigration law project in the House of Representatives.

Through a legal resource called "discharge petition", Nancy Pelosi and Joe García, Florida democrat, will seek that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, submit the HR15 law project to a vote.

In an interview with Univisión, Joe García assured he has the support of almost 200 votes, with which he seeks to pressure Boehner to reach the 218 necessary votes to approve immigration reform.
