In today’s world, everyone leaves a digital footprint and often it’s left unattended after they die. Understandably, there are other more pressing issues to take care of. For others though, especially as it relates to LinkedIn, no one is thinking of it.

Over the years, I have had clients who died tragically and unexpectedly and months, or even years, later their LinkedIn profiles continue to surface. Just the other day, a client mentioned someone they know who passed away last year and his profile shows up as someone he should connect with.

If a colleague, family member or friend has died and they have a LinkedIn profile, someone will have to contact LinkedIn and provide them with the necessary information in order for them to remove the profile. Notice below that a colleague is able to handle this on behalf of the deceased’s family.
