Police: Bank robbery suspect nabbed in Pitman

FRANKLIN - Police said they caught the man responsible for a bank robbery in Franklinville on Tuesday morning.

Franklin Township Police Department Detective Nicholas Pasculli told The Daily Journal that James R. Thompson Jr., 36, was arrested at a residence in Pitman Wednesday evening and charged with first degree bank robbery and theft.

Thompson, a Pitman resident, was taken to Salem County Correctional Facility on $125,000 full cash bail, according to police.

Thompson made off with an undisclosed amount of money after allegedly robbing the Newfield National Bank at 3249 Delsea Drive in Franklinville around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said Thompson gave a bank employee a threatening note demanding money and claiming he was armed.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.

The Pitman Police Department assisted in Thompson's arrest.
