Edward Snowden Discusses Online Security Concerns At SXSW

This year’s South By Southwest Interactive Festival gave NSA leaker Edward Snowden the chance to speak to the tech community about security and surveillance.

In front of a green screen composite of the U.S. Constitution, Snowden was a part of a discussion based on the current state of online security, shared with principal technologist of ACLU, Christopher Soghoian.

Even though discussion was focused on the value of encryption and the role of tech giants in securing consumer data, Snowden did speak about his personal motive for becoming the NSA leaker.

“What I wanted to do was inform the public so they could make a decision about what we should do,” Snowden says.
