'2018 is set to showcase colour in its boldest form,' say colourists at Mylands. With the new year fast approaching, trend insights and predictions give us an idea about what new influences we will embrace, and ultimately, how we will decorate and update our homes.
One thing that seems definite, however, is that colour will set the tone for 2018 providing us with endless possibilities to update our interior.
With their successful Film, Theatre and Television (FTT) collection, the experts at luxury paint manufacturer Mylands know a thing or two about show-stopping colour schemes. Take a look at their colour predictions for 2018 below:
1. Colourful
There's no place for neutrals here. 'Bright, bold, saturated and strong; colour makes a statement with vibrant tones and a playful feel,' says Mylands. 'Canary yellow, lime green, citrus orange, peacock blue and fuchsia pink; colour is vivid and unashamed!'
2. Black is back
On the other end of the spectrum, 'Warm neutrals, sand and charcoal tones are set to take centre stage in 2018, with black tipped to be one of the year's statement shades,' Mylands predict. Remember, black comes in a myriad of tones, from inky to indigo-infused, and can work wonderfully in a monochrome scheme or paired with metallic accents. Mylands adds: 'Deep and dramatic with an intensity and intimacy like no other, black can also be wonderfully restful with rich, matt shades lending a soothing sense of serenity to a busy space.'
3. Subtle
And last but very not least, subtle hues with a nostalgic feel 'are a welcome temper to the coloured and monochromatic looks of 2018'. Think greys, lilac and elderberry tones, which Mylands say 'although soft in colour, is strong in tone, creating a pretty look which can be restful or revitalising'.
