An F-16 fighter pilot has taken the selfie craze to dizzy heights after capturing the perfect moment a MISSILE was fired.

The cool maverick at the helm of the Royal Danish Air Force jet managed to photograph himself as the AIM-9L/M Swidewinder was released.

With a fiery tail propelling the 200 pound weapon forward, the camera flashed just as it soared past the cockpit.

The spectacular image could spark a new wave of 'danger-selfies' - but not many will be able to try this one at home.

The Danish top gun is a wearing a Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System, which allows pilots to fire weapons at targets by pointing their heads.

Just how the unidentified pilot managed to take such a spectacular shot is not known.

But the panoramic view in the visor suggests a the extreme sportsman's favourite a GoPro camera was used.
