A perfectly fitting pair of classic Levi's is the holy grail of shopping. Ask anyone who's finally found some, and you'll inevitably hear a story about wading through heaps of old denim, devotedly searching eBay, or paying through the nose for an expertly reconstructed pair. You'll mostly likely also hear that they're 501s.

First invented in 1873, the traditional cut is a favorite of street style stars, editors, and chic people in the know. And after hundreds of years, it's finally getting an upgrade. For Fall, Levi's is making the 501 fit even better with a new stretch fabric. It maintains the integrity of the original while providing a fit and feel that's more familiar to our skinny jeans-wearing selves.

"If you pick up a pair, you won't see that they are stretch, you just see a pair of 501s," explained the company's SVP of global design, Jonathan Cheung. "We wanted to make the technology invisible. The minute you try them on, you'll feel the difference."
