Right-wing talk radio host Glenn Beck was one of Sen. Ted Cruz's biggest backers in the brutal GOP primary -- and Beck is not at all happy that Cruz decided to cave and endorse Trump.
During an interview on Beck's show Monday, Cruz tried to defend his endorsement of the man who made fun of the appearance of Cruz's wife, and who also insinuated the Cruz's father had something to do with the assassination of President Kennedy.
It did not go well.
Cruz tried to argue that this election is a binary choice, and that Hillary Clinton has simply proven herself unfit to be president. Beck was ready for this answer, however, and pounced.
"Hillary Clinton has done nothing to change your mind -- or mine -- that she is fit to be President of the United States," Beck responded. "However, this weekend, you wouldn't answer the question of whether Donald Trump was fit to be President of the United States."
Cruz at this point paused, took a deep breath and stammered a bit before answering.
"What I said is this is a binary choice," Cruz replied. "I wish it were not a binary choice. As you know, I tried very, very hard, as did you, to prevent it from being a binary choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump."
At no point did Cruz say that he believed Trump was actually fit to be president -- instead, he railed against Hillary Clinton's prospective Supreme Court picks.
Beck then points out to Cruz that he already knew about Hillary Clinton's potential judicial picks on the same day he dropped out of the race and called Trump a "sociopathic liar," as well as in Cleveland where he infamously refused to endorse Trump.
"Do you have new information that has made you say, 'Oh my gosh, he's now not a sociopathic liar, he is not the guy that I spelled out eloquently for over a year, and now suddenly there's a reason to believe him?" Beck asked.
Cruz completely dodged this question and tried to reiterate that this election was a binary choice. Beck pressed him again, however, and Cruz said that he decided to change his mind after Trump committed last week to only choose Supreme Court justices from his previously released lists.
Of course, it's unclear why this would make a difference if Trump really is a "pathological liar," as Cruz has claimed in the past.
After the interview, Beck called out Cruz for acting like any other politician by caving to pressure from the political establishment in the hopes that it would help his long-term career.
"For the very first time I heard Ted Cruz calculate," he said. "And when that happened, the whole thing fell apart for me."
