Lamp Makeover: How to make a Wooden Candle Stick from a Lamp Stand
Howdie folks,
The most glorious Spring weather has been bestowed on us, and I have been gobbling it up with big, happy gulps.
One of the things I have been doing, is some thrifting. And look at my latest score:
Isn’t she gorgeous? Aren’t you completely jealous? I know you are thinking right now “why don’t I ever find such beauties in my thrift store!”. I know, I found this at a flea market. I had to hand over the staggering amount of 50 cents to get it. Just shows that those flea market vendors don’t recognize a treasure when it is staring them in the face. Really don’t you just love everything about it. From that stained distressed stand to that lovely floral fabric. She is a beauty just as is for sure.
However…..
I have started a makeover on her. Or should I say makeovers…
Because I have a treat for you. Starting today, for the next five days I will show you what I did with this little treasure of a thrifted lamp. I got that baby to work for me!
Let’s ease into it and start easy. Here is episode one in my Lamp Makeover Series.

How to Turn a Lamp Base into a Candle Stick
Not the most difficult project for sure. Nor the worlds most original one either. But very gratifying nevertheless. I had bought these two wooden white candle sticks in a dollar store some time ago. As a pair they looked great, but sometimes in decorating one needs a threesome. and this little lamp stand was the perfect companion to the two taller ones.
I simply removed all the bits and pieces of lamp from the stand, painted her white and glued on a little candle base from my stash.
That was a lucky pairing up for sure. I tried leaving the stand as is, which worked well for stump candles but looked a bit bare. I added a vintage mini pie tin to the top. Which looked adorable but didn’t match so well with the other two in the trio. I tried out various little saucers and dishes until I took a second look at this candle base. It matched up as if it was meant to be.
Project completed!
So next time you see a totally outdated, raggedy looking lamp, take a second look at the lamp base and maybe you will have a lovely (wooden) candle stick in the making.
Just slap some paint on it and call it a day. Or add a little top, like I did, I am sure you have the perfect little topper somewhere in your kitchen cabinets or decorating stash.

But this is actually a fun post!! You had me going. I mean maybe styles are different in Europe and you do have a way of making even a floral fabric shaded lamp seem cool so I wasn’t sure…now I’m intrigued. How can you do THREEthings from such a small item??? I must stay tuned!!!!
