Bowen Boys #1

More than Meets the Ink

Rate this book
Wickedly sexy James Bowen is a bad boy of the highest order -- tattoos and attitude included -- which unfortunately ranks way up on Tate's not-a-chance-in-hell list, right there along with skydiving naked over Teheran and juggling Ebola vials just for kicks. But what the heck, she's on holiday, the guy is absolutely irresistible, and she needs to unplug from her life. With her dad and brother gone, Tate is left to deal with the family restaurant, which is fast going down the drain. Her employees are acting out, her boyfriend has bailed out, and her very own private stalker is emailing her to death with lovely threats of doom, fire, and dismemberment. So yeah, maybe a little holiday fling is in order. Strictly sex though, and no follow-up whatsoever once.

She hadn't counted on her take-charge holiday fling having an opinion of his own and stubbornly sticking around, before and after the sex, making himself at home in her life. There is definitely more to James than meets her prejudiced eye, and even if she's not ready to look deeper, James isn't prepared to permit her not to.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content and graphic language.

your kind had a heart."
"Yes, I do, even if you're set on stomping all over it."

Dump her. Dump her. Dump her.

I think James has a hearing defect. He did not listen to me.

In fact, this was a one-star read for me. But I felt sorry for James and I had to add a second star. Tate was an incredibly judgmental bitch. James was tested but he did persevere. To persevere is to maintain purpose in spite of obstacles and hurtful discouragement and you have to continue consistently. He had to endure a lot and he was forced to last despite hardships, pain and loss. Amen.

More than Meets the Ink started out rather nice and fluffy. Unfortunately, I had a hard time to finish this book. I really tried to love it but it failed. What definitely ruined this story for me was the HIGHLY annoying heroine and too much sex. Throughout the plot Tate thinks that James is a brainless and irresponsible stud. The poor guy is sporting some hot tats and that alone qualifies him as a bad boy who is not serious boyfriend material. Preconceived notions all the way, babe! It got old pretty fast. Get a grip woman and look thoroughly! What was unnerving as well was Tate's use of "your kind" when she was referring to James as an irresponsible bad boy. That's being discriminatory and Tate proved to be a judgmental, bigoted and prejudiced bitch! Another point that annoyed me was the fact that Tate withheld extremely important information about her I really liked James, though. Despite Tate's bitching and stubbornness, he never gave up. Wow, you've got stamina, James (pun intended). If I had been in his shoes I would have ditched her.

I wanted to bitch-slap Tate. She didn't deserve to be called "heroine".

Here's a prime example what an outstanding bitch this woman is (it's definitely a spoiler):

Seriously? WTF? She is the reason that I added the new shelf most-annoying-bitches-ever. Holy cow. I wanted to throttle her!

Internally screaming…

The sex
They have sex on their minds. All. The. Time. And they do the deed very often. This book is classified as a romance. So, please, give me romance. More than Meets the Ink is another prime example for lots of f***ing and no romance. Let's face it, I couldn't for the life of me find any romance in this book. What is romance? Sex is NOT romance. And having sex is NOT making love. IMO, having sex turns into making love when the couple is deeply emotionally connected. Also, I think it depends on how you do the deed. A quick f@ck against the wall can be incredibly hot but it's not making love. It is what it is. A quick f@ck. We should call things as they are, after all. When readers are asking "is there romance", they're basically referring to "is there sex". Again, do call things as they are. When it comes to James and Tate, there's no romance to be found. I'm not someone to beat round the bush, so I'll give it to you straight. These two are simple f@ck buddies, no more no less. Always horny. Hard-ons, puckered nipples, and SOPPING wet panties/pussies 24/7. Well, I assume this is real hard work, and yet I still prefer quality over quantity. When a book is filled with lots of sex scenes, then they have to be darn well-written to keep me engaged. In fact, it's a bad sign when Baba is skimming (or speed reading) pages filled with sex because I actually love to read steamy sex/love scenes. Tate and James acted like oversexed bunnies, and it got old and boring at a certain point. I'm just not into gratuitous sex.

After they came down, she rose slowly from him, and then she stopped, her pussy lips poised on the tip of his dick, kissing it, their contact barely there. Foreheads touching, they both looked down. Suddenly he felt how his crown was being bathed in something fiery hot. Fuck, his cum and her lube were trickling down her pussy and falling down onto his cock. It felt so intimate and so right. So damn hot. Just like that, he was ready to have her again.

We should make a list with the best written and hottest sex scenes ever. Sadly, Ms. Aycart would not make it on my list, that's for sure.

Conclusion
I'm definitely a minority here. Give it a try and maybe you'll love it. It wasn't my cup of tea, though.

It's ok, I liked it just fine.

It took a while for me to get into the book, but after a while I did.

I feel like I misjudged both of the lead characters at the beginning, however, by the end I saw them in a different light.
For most of the first part I couldn't stand the female lead, Tate. I found her unlikable and too prejudiced, but not in a cut way, in an annoying one. Afterwards, I chanced my mind a little bit, but I still had problems with her character. She is insecure, I get that, however, her reasons for being mistrustful where not sufficient for me. In fact, I think you can be that mistrustful of men without having those reasons. Then, it was a bit over the top the fact that she insisted in calling James a bad boy only because of his tattoos, after a while it started to seem like she lacked brains.
James is nice, but for a while there, while I was founding Tate annoying, I started to think he had no self-respect or pride because of the way he kept chasing Tate while she was so demeaning towards him and was so convinced to know what kind of person he was. I didn't understand why he kept putting up with that. But, after that first part, I started to see that his personality was that easy going and untroubled, he doesn't take things that seriously or personally. Besides. in the end, he stands his ground and acts very well.

I have a big problem with an aspect of James personality though, and in a way, with the message send with it.
He has been previously married. When he explains and gives his reasons of why he married his ex-wife I wanted to vomit. He says he didn't love her, but since she was pregnant, he wanted to be in the baby's life, be a good father. In my opinion, that is no reason to marry someone you don't love. You can be in your child's life without having to be married. To actually marry the woman out of some kind of misguided obligation is wrong, irresponsable, unhealthy, backwards and lacks judgment. I can't support that way of thinking, no.

The story that follows in Boston, after the first part, is nice and interesting. Nevertheless, the overall feeling that I get from the novel is a forgettable story, not bad, but it isn't great either. Thus, my 2.5 rating.

Audiobook: Loooove the voice of the narrator, very manly and strong. On the other hand, the editing of the audiobook needed more work, you can hear the narrator clear his throat in several occasions.

P.S: I wound't classify this contemporary romance as erotica as it shows on the genres' list.

I'll confess that I only start reading this book because I wanted to read the second in the series and I just can’t start reading a series in the middle. I've got always to start from the first.
And in this moment I can honestly say: Thank God for that!

This is a damn good book. It’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s romantic and in some moments (okay, plenty of moments), it’s really steamy.
And it has a simple story line that balances between sweet and sexy with no major angst or sadness, which I found recently that I like it a LOT. Boy meets girl, some issues, some drama,
(Well, that has to be present!), lots of romance and the mandatory HEA.

This is the story of a girl, Tate, with a traumatic event in the past that she’s yet to recover from and some serious problems in the present. One day meets a guy, James, that she feels attracted to and it’s much reciprocated. They think that a no-strings-attached sexual relationship is the way to go (Why? Why do they always think that?) and yes, we all know where this is going next.

I will now definitely read the second… only this time I will do it also because I want to see more of Tate and James. And because the boys in this book are all perfect examples of sexy alpha-males… and we can't obviously miss that!

A very fast and really good reading. Go try it! ;)

I stopped reading at 52%. I disliked the h so much that it overshadowed the entire story. Loved James though...despite the fact that he liked the h. And I couldn't figure out "why" James even liked Tate. The sexual chemistry? The reverse psych cliche that she thinks he's scum? Great character totally wasted. When I realized that at 50% I wasn't rooting for a HEA but begging for James to RUN.... yeah too many other books, to little time. Tate was written to such an extreme from even the first page that I just did not have any sympathy for her. Every time I thought to myself "I should be feeling some empathy for this character" Tate would ruin it by being so unlikeable.

Tate is in Florida visiting her mother while on vacation. While there she meets James, the son of a neighbor. He's the perfect picture of a "bad boy" if she ever saw one with devastatingly good looks and prominent tattoos, she knows his type. At least she thinks she does. He's exactly the type her sister goes for and those doomed romances never end well. So when James shows an obvious interest in Tate, she is initially hesitant. She doesn't have time for drama and she needs to guard her fragile heart. She's already nursing wounds. She just lost her father and brother in a tragic accident a year ago. Add to that, she is trying to keep the family restaurant afloat. However, her close proximity to James and instant chemistry is wearing her down. She's on vacation so she decides, for the time being, she'll give into her desire and have a sex-only, no-strings attached relationship. Here's Tate's initial thoughts on James:
"This man belonged on the front cover of a firefighters' calendar, for God's sake, not in the common area of the senior community skyrocketing everybody's blood pressure to the moon. He should come with a warning from the health department: Handle with extreme caution and use at your own peril. Looking will cause palpitations, dizziness, and hyperventilation. She knew, for she was having all of those and then some."

Let me tell you, I was hyperventilating right along with Tate!

James for his part will take anything she's willing to give but as he spends more time with Tate, he finds he's getting more, and more attached to her. Suddenly, this no-strings attached business is not going to cut it for James. So when Tate returns home, James, who lives close by, follows, not willing to let her go. He knows she's afraid of getting hurt, whether she'll admit it or not, but he's determined to gain her trust and help her get her life and restaurant back on track.

I absolutely and completely fell for James! He was such a sweetheart. He was so patient and loving with Tate, determined to protect her and help her get past her issues. I felt bad for Tate and all she went through, so her constant reluctance to admit her true feelings for James was bearable. Plus, she would only try to push him away with her words, for like two seconds, and then with her actions, pull him close. This is such a sweet romance with a lot of humorous scenes, as well. The beginning with these two always getting caught by the senior citizens was pretty hilarious.

This story has plenty of spice to it. I'd say on a spice scale of 1-10, it would rate about a 9 or 10!! Pretty dang HOT!! This is definitely an adult read!

As a bonus I guess we get a story on Cole, James' brother, next: Heavy Issues. I just talked to the author and she said Heavy Issues will be available on: Loose Id. www.loose-id.com on May 29th and a few weeks after on Amazon.

Ok. Here's the deal. I loved this book. The writing was funny, smart, emotional and hot. Tate was a bit of a bitch in the beginning, immediately lumping James in with "tattooed bad boys". Calling him a " black hole wrapped up in fancy paper". Um, is it the seventies? Could someone tell me? You know, where tattoos equaled bad boys? Uh oh, he has beautiful, artful, meaningful tattooes on a gorgeous body. Bad news! Did Tate not live through the nineties? Being untattoed was the exception.

James is the perfect combination of Alpha and sweet. He gave some seriously good sex and foreplay that was out of this world! Just a great guy. Kind to old ladies AND ate their pie. What? You think these guys grow on trees? They don't sister! Oh! And he can dance! 6'4", muscular, gorgeous, owns his own business, smart, sweet, kind. But oh no, tattoos. Stay away sister!

Tate just kept not only pushing him away, but putting him down to push him away. I know she was hurting from deaths in her immediate family and a cyber stalker, but COME ON! A guy treats you so well, with kindness and love. He wants more than anything to be with you and be there for you? I would think the loss in your life would make you treasure that.

I thought somewhere in the middle Tate started redeeming herself. She bought a better bed for her house, so James could be comfy when he stayed. She gave back. She was happy. Then she started the 'I have to break up with you before you leave me broken hearted' shit! These kind of people need a fucking critical thinking class. Then after she demands he leaves and he does, with a pit stop rescue from stalker by James, she goes to him to ask for him to take her back. What does she say? "Am I so easy to walk away from?" Say Wha!!!!! You little game playing bitch!

Now don't get me wrong. I like heroines that are bitchy but redeem themselves, Tate didn't in my eyes. Polyannas get old after a while. If I were her, to beg for this wonderful man back, I would have had his name beautifully tattooed on my hip and showed him. (Well maybe a temporary tattoo, but as soon as he took me back, I'd make it permanent, I swear!). Knowing James, he would have fucked her where she stood!

I was disappointed. I really wanted Tate to grow. Instead, it took her losing him to realize she wanted him. Hate those bitches!

Wow, this book had one of the worst heroines ever and I just couldn't take her so I quit reading. She is a judgmental beeotch toward the hero, she thinks because he has tattoos that he is a bad boy loser who only uses women - for no reason other than the tattoos. She even says something to him about "his kind" of people. Wow. I wanted him to walk away from her nasty azz when she said that. Meanwhile, little miss hypocrite has a clit ring. Maybe the hero shouldn't want to be around a woman who would have one of those, she must be a crazy nympho by her own judgmental standards.

I just couldn't stand the heroine to the point that I had to quit reading because there was no way I wanted the hero to end up with her. He was a nice guy with his own business who served in the military, he deserved better than some hypocritical idiot. Maybe she got better but I had had enough of her by about 35% so I don't know.

The first in the Bowen Series and a seriously smexy romance.

James and Tate first meet when Tate is on a covert ops mission with her mother crawling across his Father’s lawn looking for her missing cat! After a less then auspicious start, they have an intense physical attraction to one another that burns white hot. They can hardly resist each other despite the fact that James’ Father and Tate’s Mother live in a seniors retreat!

After several hilarious coitus interruptus moments, they start an intense physical affair that’s only meant to last as long as their stay with their parents and they decide to go their separate ways as they return to the city to carry on with their lives. James, however, can’t stay away from Tate, his pirate princess, and he seeks her out and their affair continues in the city.

James was a wonderful hero – a tall, bronzed and tattooed Adonis. He’s talks dirty to Tate, really turns her on, is an incredibly attentive lover and is strong and dependable. He’s had a series of casual affairs since his marriage broke down and isn’t looking for anything serious but he finds he feels very differently about Tate and can’t get her out of his mind and can’t resist her.

Tate – now, this is where my rating falls down for this book. This story is an amazingly hot and sexy romance with a little bit of suspense going down too but Tate is such a seriously judgemental and prejudiced individual, I felt I had to drop my rating. She constantly refers to James as ‘your kind’ just because he has a few tatts – she judges him and finds him wanting based purely on the fact that he’s got ink. This is, of course, why the book is called More Than Meets The Ink as James is nothing like the pre-conceived ideas that Tate has erroneously conjured up and I found her attitude seriously distasteful. She’s a difficult heroine to like. In her defence, she’s had a tough year, is grief-stricken, over-worked, stressed out and has a crazy-ass stalker to boot but, despite all this, calling a man you’re having an intense physical relationship with ‘your kind’ just left a foul taste in my mouth. I didn’t think she really deserved James.

This was my only problem with the book – everything else was a delight to read. I enjoyed all other aspects of the story and Elle Aycart knows how to write really hot and exciting sex scenes and I'm definitely carryong on.

3.5 stars erotic romance

I picked up this book based on many good ratings in goodreads. Turns out its just not for me. The story is light with min drama/twist/plot. Just a lot of sex. But the sex is seems forced. I can not feel the characters chemistry/ development at all.

It touches lightly on dead, loss issue. But not being explored deeply. Just briefly.

I try to finish reading it but it really not working for me.

Read this a long time ago because I wanted to get over my "I don't like tattooed guys" way of thinking (just to clarify, I mean it as in I don't like a tattooed H, not that I don't like tattooed people).
I got a h that thinks tattooed guys are Walking STDs, she was way too judgemental. You'd think she's Virgin Mary for how high she's on her horse and then... She has a clit ring, sinceriously.
I honestly have no idea what he saw in her.

So all in all this book needs some work. How it was published with all of the punctuation errors is beyond me...but for some reason I found myself compelled to finish, and in the end I am glad I did.

Tate is a mess. There is no other way to put it, and who can blame her? She recently lost both her father & brother in a car accident, her mom as up and moved to a retirement home in Florida to escape it all, her sister bailed under the stress, and Tate is left with a family restaurant that she can't seem to let go of, yet just stepping foot in there without her family is a battle she loses daily. While visiting her mother in Florida she meets a rather HOT James, who happens to be visiting his father. James is instantly attracted to Tate, but she doesn't want anything to do with him because her has tattoos, and a bad boy is something she just doesn't need right now.

I could go into this more but lets just get down to the nitty gritty here ok?

The punctuation...
First of, and most annoyingly the author doesn't seem to understand what and apostrophe is...like at all! Every where one was needed she used a quotation mark, which is not only crazy wrong but confusing when you were trying to distinguish when dialogue was going on. Not sure what I mean? Here is an example: The word She's is spelled with an apostrophe, but she would spell it She"s. And not just once, it was every single time throughout the entire book. Not a single apostrophe to be found anywhere.

Then there was the sex talk....
Don't get me wrong some of it was hot....like super HAWT! But most of it not so much. It felt all very 70's cheap porn esq. Where you are reading things like How god baby your has tight as a fist!
REALLY?!?!? Yea no guy would ever say that....EVER!! And then not to mention this...
"His taste was so intoxicating not to mention his touch. As he kept eating at her mouth, his hand gliding to her breast stealing a shudder from her."
See what I mean? Eating at her mouth? Really? Yea that just leaves me with a bad mental pic of that one guy that kissed you in middle school who felt more like a slobbering dog!
Also Tate has a hood piercing which I found really hard to believe because a girl that HATES tattoos and thinks all that wear them are evil lowlifes DON'T get piercings....do they? Also Tate's behaviour towards James over 3 measly tatts? I mean it's not like the guy was covered in them....which would have been hot btw *winks*

Then we have the plot...
This is how this book actually milked 2 starts from me. Without the plot line, that despite everything is actually pretty good, I would have flopped this book so fast and slapped a big fat 0 on it. But that's the thing...the plot is good, with a little editing it would be great even. I spent most of my time wanting to strangle Tate every time she ran from James...but I get. I know where she was coming from and to be honest? I would have bad the same bad mistakes she did. In fact I have many times over. You show me a guy offering his heart on a silver platter and I'll show you a girl that can outrun a freight train....every time;) So while I wanted to slap some sense into her, I also loved her. James was just all around perfect for me if not a little pushy. Yes he tells it like it is, puts people in their place, and wants to control the situation, but the guy if a total SWEETHEART when it comes to Tate, and his family. The things he does for her is amazing. If I was him I would have ran the other way a long time ago, but I am so glad that her didn't.

Overall it feels to me like maybe this book was just thrown together and pounded out all in one sitting and BAM! Published! But with some editing work and a few more drafts I could have really loved this book. In the end I would say Mrs. Aycart should stick to the contemporary romance side of things and leave the erotica to someone else. Because the sex scenes in this book were beyond NOT believable. Even still it has been two days since I finished reading this and I am still thinking about Tate & James;)

Disappointed

This had the makings of a good story. The author gave both MCs deep issues that could have been used to build a deep connection. There was also a conflict in the heroine's personal life that needed the skills of the hero. Potential for action, suspense, mystery.

It fell flat and it grated. The types of issues these MC's had, needed more development. Also, the female MC was immature and judgmental for most of the book. It's okay for an MC to start out with issues, but her judginess (yep, made up that word) was offensive. Therefore, I needed a bit more growth out of her before the book ended.

Also, the narrator (Carl Hughes) screwed this up too. Maybe it was only my version (I used Audible Escape), but towards the latter part of the book, Hughes was coughing and clearing his throat. Can you edit that crap out please?

This was my first book by this author, so I'll try something else by her.

Whoa!!! This book was SIZZLING HOT!! Just amazing. I was hooked by the story line from the opening page and had a very hard time putting the book down. James is unbelievable, the kinda guy a girl dreams about! He takes talking dirty to whole new level ..LOL!! One of the thing's I loved about him was that even though he was so sexually intense he was still sensitive and sweet at the same time. He was the full package. Tate was a little on the annoying side, she has a stubborn personality but I still fell in love with her. I loved her snarkey and independent attitude. I felt like this book was just a great combination of romance, sex with a really good plot and characters. I will definitely be reading more of Elle Aycart's books and would definitely suggest this! It was one fun read.

I Love Love LOVED this story !!! I couldn't put it down..you wouldn't want to put it down..it had the amazing, sexy, gorgeous, tattooed, dirty talker James in it!!!!! He was almost too perfect..but then fictional characters can be just that can't they?!!!

BIG SIGH .... ♥ ♥ James ♥ ♥ ....

Right I digress...

James and Tate's story is an intense love story about two passionate people who are marked by heartbreak, grief and loss who find in each other what they are missing and set upon a journey of healing and self discovery!

Tate is mourning the tragic death of her brother and father, she has shoved that in a drawer to open later but it marks her every decision and thought process - she has a need to be in control at all times. She is struggling to keep her family’s Italian restaurant open and Aidan the man she thought she loved has abandoned her just when she needed him the most.

Tate's Mum is in a retirement home in Florida and whilst visiting her from Boston she meets ♥James♥ (also from Boston)who is there visiting his Dad. Tate immediately has James down to be the ultimate tattooed alpha bad boy to stay away from...but she succumbs to his charms and agrees to a quick holiday "sex-mance"...Yeah right like that was ever going to work!!! I have to admit that Tate really got on my nerves by the end - BIG time...but I got the reasons for why and what motivated it and she redeemed herself!

James has his own past and hang ups so is fine with the whole "no strings attached" although he isn't happy with how Tate has painted him as a "black hole wrapped up in fancy, frilly giftwrap" - Tate

Tate does her best to push James away when she realizes that actually he wants more. But ♥James♥ gorgeous, funny, HOT, protective bad boy James isn't going anywhere!!! I absolutely and completely head over heels fell for James..did I already tell you that??!! Well I did!!!

This book was gripping, it was funny, it was emotional and umm it was very very naughty and yummy!!! I LOVED it!!!!

(To the haters of this book for apparently containing "Politically Incorrect Content" all I have to say is WHAT???? You CANNOT be serious!!! That.Is.All!!!!)

What a beautiful love story. I don't have the words to give a proper review other than to say I really enjoyed this book. I was on the hunt for a good romance and am happy I found this gem. I read it in a little under 24 hours. It was a quick and easy read with a great story line to go with all the steaminess between the pages. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a beautiful romance.

Best. Dirty. Talker. Ever! Thank you to my girls for this recommendation. I absolutely LOVED James. Tate was sweet and while I understood her reservations when it came to starting a relationship with James... it got old. I loved this book... the story line was fantastic, the chemistry was hot, and the love was beautiful. I can't wait to read Heavy Issues!

"You haven't gotten the dynamics of our relationship down yet, have you? Let me explain it to you: we're involved, very involved. You're mine and your problems are also mine. No one messes with what belongs to me. Don't fight me on that because you'll lose, baby. And be aware next time you hide something like that from me, I'll turn you over my knee and spank your ass red. Do we understand each other?"- James in More than Meets the Ink

While visiting her mother at the Eternal Sun Resort in Florida Tate meets SEXY AS ALL HELL James Bowen. James is not her type he has tattoo's and a badboy swagger. His father Mr. Bowen also lives in a condo at Eternal Sun Resort and has an ongoing beef with her mother. After Tate and James get caught in the crossfire they find themselves attracted to eachother and they decide to have a "holiday fling" that will stay in Florida. After a few mishaps with trying to hookup on the low James get's a room at a hotel. The two have explosive, hot, never wanna stop sex! The next day Tate leaves her badboy behind to go back home to Boston and the world of problems that await her.

James returns to Boston earlier than planned with Tate on the brain. He knows that he agreed to the "Holiday Fling" but he wants more so he goes to Tate. He finds Tate at her family owned Italian restaurant Rosita's. Tate has been trying hard to keep business going strong since the sudden deaths of her brother and father. While doing so Tate loss her boyfriend and has to battle for suppliers at Rosita's. Oh and did i mention she has a stalker... Soon Tate and James "just sex" fling is a full blown relationship though Tate tries to deny this she is suddenly in to deep. Love strikes and stops her cold. So what does she do?!? She breaks up with him.

Thoughts
If you can see past Tate's bigoted views of guys with tattoo's than you can enjoy this read. And trust me she has some strong dislikes and has decided to lump all tattooed men into that category. Very scary trust me. By the end i did feel as tho Tate learned that she was wrong about James and that is one of the reasons she got scared and broke up with him. James and Tate together... WOW so explosive and OH SO very steamy i loved it! I also loved meeting the other two Bowen brothers and i look forward to their books as well!

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable and Witty
Writing Style- Good and Solid
Plot/Storyline- Good
Steam Factor- Very Steamy "Call emergency to put out the fire!" HOT!
Overall- I Enjoyed it!!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

I really enjoyed this. I love a story where one or both of the characters are totally not looking for a relationship, and BAM -- love hits them where it hurts. I can't believe James was even interested after Tate's admission of her belief about all tattooed men. Granted, she had lots of empirical evidence to rely on from her sister's non-relationships, but sheesh... stereotype much? And it's not like she even buffered her opinions... just laid them out, warts and all. And there were a lot of warts. Surprising then that James was still interested, but boy howdy, he was. Their near misses at the senior complex were almost comical. Poor man had blue balls for DAYS! And then their last night in Florida was explosive, and then she became a bitch again.

Head home to Boston (separately, despite James's suggestion they travel together)... James isn't ready to give her up, so he tracks her down. She's uncertain about how to feel when she sees him, but ultimately lust wins over. And over. And over. :-) Soon, he's all but moved in with her and helping her with her business where he can. He's not overbearing about it, but Tate resists because she doesn't want to rely on him always being there. She's convinced he'll get his fill and leave her behind.

Things get dodgy when James finds out about her stalker. Things happen. Hearts break. People almost lose lives. But finally -- FINALLY -- she realizes what she has and that she can't live without it. HEAs all around.

I would love if this author continued the series either with one of James's brothers or with one of his business partners. Lots of great stories could come out of that.

Whew!! I was warned that this was going to be hot, but wow did I underestimate just how H-O-T!!!!! it was going to turn out to be!! I really enjoyed this one, James' dirty mind had me hooked from the very start (HOLY crap this boy's thoughts were enough to drive me mad!!)!!! He's sweet and tender but knows just how to get rough when the time calls for it!! And if you've ever wondered what "talking dirty" entails, trust me when I say this book is a how-to guide on the subject!! *fans self* Aycart sure knows how to make your pulse race and then some, there was steam billowing out of the iPad by the time I finished this one!!

I have to admit Tate's "run away from him, he's one of those bad boys" act grated my nerves after awhile. And there was some cheesy dialogue, but I've found that a LOT of these romance novels have that so I guess it's nothing unexpected. Otherwise, I really liked the plot twists and the danger with Tate's stalker. Just enough of everything to keep me drawn in, and of course the bonus of James' sex drive being overactive for the entire book!! HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!

Back in October, 2012 ...

OK, I admit that I got this book strictly based on the cover (HELLO! SEXY TATS!!!). Does that make me shallow? Maybe. Did I love the book? You bet!

Tate's character annoyed me to no end but James more than made up for it. Great story with HEA in the end (even though Tate didn't exactly do much to deserve it!).

This book is seriously hot! I was hooked by James and Tate's relationship right from the start and couldn't put this down!

I'm giving the book 4.5 as Tate's attitude towards 'tattoed bad boys' drove me to distraction at times. I get that this prejudice played a huge part in the story but really... who thinks like that? And those people who do think like that, certainly don't deserve to be given so many chances.

So despite wanting to slap Tate at certain parts of the book, but it was fab. And I'm very much looking forward to the second Bowen book as apparently it's even better.

Now where can I find me a James Bowen?!

According to Loose ID's description, Elle Aycart is a BRAND NEW AUTHOR. I decided to take a chance and buy this book because I have a MAJOR THING for tattoos, oh and the story looked interesting. Plus I've found Loose ID has many talented authors I've never heard of before.

I have to say I really, really enojoyed MTMTI and Tate and James' story. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with James, he is dominant, possessive, loving, funny and sexy as hell with his tattoos. Tate...hmmm, it took me a while into the book to really want her to end up with such a great guy, because she came across as a bitchy snob. However, once Tate returned to Boston, I was able to see where her bitchiness came from. I still didn't want her to have James, because I WANT HIM!!! The sex in this book was HOT, James is extremely sensual, Tate just can't resist him...There's are part when he says to her "I want you. Can I have you?" I pretty much melted right then. Tate has alot of emotional issues stemming from her family and James is just the person to help her work through them.

There is a secondary cast of characters I hope to see more of; James' brothers, Max & Cole and Tate's sister, hopefully they all get their own stories. And I would love to see more of James's Dad and Tate's mom and how they are surviving in their retirement communities. James' Dad is a "hot mess" I laughed so hard tears were rolling down my face when he and James were playing golf and he made the comment to James that Tate must be a "hard on" girl.

All in all MTMTI is a great erotic romance, with alot of humor and steam, there is some suspense in it. But to me the story of James persisting until Tate finally gives in was a great, steamy romance. I fully recommend reading MTMTI,for a first time author I feel it is an incredible read.

I really hope this is book one of a series. I will definitely be on the look out for more books by Elle Aycart.

This is my third effort at a review. I’m trying to do this without dropping an F bomb.

I have a handful of issues with this book - but at the most elemental form my problem is subtlety. The heroine sees the hero’s tattoo and makes about a million assumptions. Which, in this day and age, is truly bizarre. I have 7 tattoos, a law degree, halfway through my Masters. I don’t drink. I am responsibility personified. It’s mind-boggling to think that someone would see one of my tattoos and assume I’m a vapid, soul-sucking whore determined to crush other people. I cannot see the logic of that leap.

But let’s get back to the subtlety - the heroine can’t just think “man, dude has a tattoo. He could be wild.” Instead she’s the kind of complete asshole who gives a pathetic, judgy rant about a dude she’s talked to for less than 2 hours straight - to his face! She can’t just kinda have a thought that she keeps to herself. No, she’s such an uptight, mouthy, moron that she needs to vomit her thoughts and feelings all over those nearest her.

So when we’ve reached some kind of weird low where I think this book just can’t get worse - homeboy decides he needs to sleep with this female-equivalent-of-a-mansplainer. She’s like social pus - just repulsive in everything that comes out of her mouth - and he just has to tap that. What...the...hell....

I can dig on having some assumptions you’ve made being proven wrong. Books where a dude from prison turns out to be super cool (I’m lookin at your awesome self, Cara McKenna) but to have so little faith in readers’ ability to pick up on nuance that you make your “heroine” a bigot? Nah, man. Not cool.

I will admit that I did struggle with Tate's characterization at first

description

but managed to find a middle ground for her words and actions in the end.

description

I mean, she had a tough life. Therefore, when sexy James Bowen enters the picture and presses for a commitment, it's out of the cards for what she's willing to give.

So what basically made me continue reading this?: Why, James Bowen of course!!

description

This misjudged and drool worthy guy was just sensational!! I mean, what a heart to look the other cheek despite the hurtful crap that spewed out of Tate's mouth and still manage to see her good points and not the flaws. That's what you call, a man in love a.k.a: a man worth keeping.

GAH!! Tate, Tate, Tate...you were such a pain in a behind girl!

description

But at least you eventually came to your senses in the end!

Hallelujah!

#A lovely, steamy read with a "pirate princess" and her undeterred tatted alpha man determined on making the girl of his dreams his!!

I had this book for a while on my TBR and honestly, I don't know why it took me so long to get around to reading it because I loved every minute.

James.......sweet baby jesus this was such dirty talker and so hot! Loved him.

The pages just sizzled with the heat between him and Tate and I loved how their relationship progressed through the book.

I can see how some would get a bit frustrated by Tate, but I understood why she reacted the way she did to situtations.

I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series.

I love it when I find a book that hooks me and then to find out I have a few more to look forward to me pleases me no end!

Loved this book and loved James....indeed I did!

I loved this book and I really loved James! He was so sweet, patient, and extremely sexy. The only reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars was because of Tate. She drove me crazy! I understand why she acted the way she did, but it got really old after a while. I’m really looking forward to Cole’s story and it comes out really soon!

Pierced!!!

I really liked the first book of this series. I think these books can be read as standalones since there isn't a storyline arc across the series of the books, though the siblings do make an appearance in the books.

This was a cute, funny and sexy story and you'll be surprised to find out who is actually pierced!

The Bowen boys are all loveable, but he woman are a disaster. Tate not so much as Christy, but still all the same insecure, full of issues. It truly is one of those old-fashion romance books.
