Tuberculosis cases are rising in the city for the first time in a decade, according to the Health Department. 
For the first time in a decade, tuberculosis cases are on the rise in New York City, according to the Health Department.
The number of cases of the dangerous bacterial infection rose from 651 in 2012 to 656 in 2013, officials said Thursday — a 1% increase that follows an 83% decline in cases since 1992.
Most people who became infected in the city last year are foreign-born. The highest rates are concentrated in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and Flushing, Queens.
