CNN panel goes off the rails after Trump surrogate floats Bill Clinton 'love child' conspiracy

As Donald Trump's candidacy continues to spiral downward, his supporters are getting desperate for any story to help them change the subject.

Via Mediaite, Utah Republican Party Chairman James Evans went on CNN Thursday to do his best to bail Trump out of another batch of sexual assault claims -- and he at one point threw the segment straight off the rails when he floated a debunked conspiracy theory about Bill Clinton fathering a "love child" with a black prostitute.

"I'm looking forward to the interview that you're going to have with Bill Clinton's illegitimate son," Evans said after spending a lot of time talking about how the Republican Party is the party of "family values."

At this point, a visibly shocked Carol Costello interrupted him and shut him down.

"Come on, please, that’s just rubbish," she interjected. "He does not have an illegitimate son. You have no proof of that."

"How do you know this?" Evans implored her. "Have him on the air!"

Costello was not convinced.

"You dropped that one on national television?" she asked incredulously.
