Grizzlies announce 2016 Round Town Tour events

As the opening of the 2016-17 NBA season draws near, the Memphis Grizzlies invite Grizz Nation to several fan-friendly Grizzlies-themed events, including “Grit and Grind Night” at AutoZone Park, appearances at Cooper Young and Germantown festivals, the Mid-South Corn Maze featuring an image of Mike Conley and the newly re-imagined Blue White Scrimmage (formerly Open Practice) at FedExForum.

2016 Round Town Tour Schedule

Fan events start as early as tomorrow, Aug. 25, with the Grizzlies and Memphis Redbirds teaming together to host “Grit and Grind Night” at AutoZone Park. The Grizzlies’ 2016 NBA Draft first-round pick, Wade Baldwin IV, is scheduled to be on-hand to sign autographs and throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game. Also scheduled to appear for autographs is Grizzlies guard/forward and former Univ. of Memphis Tiger star D.J. Stephens.

Later this week, on Friday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m., the Grizzlies will host a “groundbreaking” pep-rally styled event at the Halle Courts (2619 Mt. Moriah Road) with guard/forward D.J. Stephens, to tip-off the beginning of a new court refurbishment project that will re-dedicate the courts, ensuring Halle’s rich culture of basketball is sustained for the next generation of play. The investment is part of the Grizzlies Cares initiative – a broader commitment to ensure all young people have access to parks, programs and people dedicated to developing their full potential. Stay tuned to grizzlies.com to learn when the courts’ new Grizzlies-themed designs will be unveiled.

The Grizzlies will tip-off September with appearances at every Levitt Shell Friday throughout September, appearances and giveaways at the Germantown (Sept. 10) and Cooper Young (Sept. 17) festivals, and an MVP Season Ticket Holder recognition event at the Mid-South Corn Maze. This year, the Mid-South Corn Maze was creatively cut into an aerial view that bears the likeness of Conley (photo attached) after last year’s maze captured the likeness of Marc Gasol. The Mid-South Corn Maze opens on September 15 and sits on eight acres of family fun at the Agricenter off Germantown Parkway in Memphis. The date and details for Grizzlies Day will be sent via MVP news to Season Ticket Holders (and media) at a later date.

Other October highlights include two events featuring the entire team of Grizzlies players and coaches. On October 1 from 6-8 p.m. , the Grizzlies will host a Blue White Scrimmage in place of the annual Open Practice at FedExForum. This full-team scrimmage will be Grizz Nation’s first-look at newcomers Chandler Parsons, 2016 draftees Wade Baldwin IV and Deyonta Davis, plus fan favorites Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen. Led by new Head Coach David Fizdale, the Blue White Scrimmage will also include entertainment teams like the Grizz Girls, Claw Crew and more, plus fan giveaways. The scrimmage is free to the public. More details will be provided at a later date.

Save the date. Following tradition, the entire team of players, coaches and executives will be present again at the 15th Annual Tip-Off Luncheon on Monday, Oct. 24 at FedExForum. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Details will be announced at a later date.
