Children in receipt of free school meals are to receive supermarket vouchers over half term

Free school meal vouchers will continue over February half term

Children who live in Hull and are currently receiving free school meals will receive food vouchers worth £15 over the February half term week.

During term time all children eligible for free school meals who attend Hull schools are either receiving free meals at school, food parcels or supermarket vouchers via their school for those learning at home.

Hull City Council will be using funding via the Winter Grant Scheme to ensure free school meal provision is continued over the February half term for all eligible children who live in Hull.

Parents living in Hull whose children attend Hull schools will be sent a text or an email asking them to choose the supermarket of their choice. Vouchers for their chosen supermarket will then be sent directly to the family ahead of half term.

Parents living in Hull whose children attend schools in the East Riding are also entitled to support, and will need to telephone Hull City Council on 01482 300300 for the February half term voucher.

Councillor Peter Clark, Portfolio Holder for learning, skills and safeguarding children said: “In Hull there are around 12,500 families receiving free school meals, and it is a priority for us to ensure that these children and families get the support they need.”
