`Runners Welcome UMKC and Chicago State This Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team will return to the Icardo center for another pair of WAC games against UMKC and Chicago State. The Roadrunners are looking to add two home wins first the Kangaroos on Thursday and the Cougars on Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest challenge with UMKC will be their hustle," said Greg McCall, head coach of CSUB's women's basketball team. "The Kangaroos are a hard-hustling team, they are going to bring a lot of energy. They have a lot of seniors that have been there for four years, even though they have a new coach they have been playing hard. Yes, their record says otherwise but that doesn't indicate how hard they have played."

Bakersfield will go toe to toe against UMKC on Thursday evening. The Kangaroos will come to CSUB with a 5-13, 1-2(WAC) record. As a team, the Roos are #3 in scoring offense (66.7 ppg) and have a 2.7 scoring margin over its opponents. The team is led by senior Aries Washington who has 16.9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game and have 22 steals while junior Kristen Moore has 13.7 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, has 33 assists in the season.

On the season, freshman Tyeshia Bowers leads the Cougars with 12 points per game, 2.6 assists per game and 24 total steals while redshirt sophomore Ines Mata Boix 9.2 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and has 34 blocks.
