You know, I've always been skeptical of New Adult as a genre, probably because it never felt like anything relevant to my experiences. I was pleasantly surprised by this one, because the writing was so dark and funny, and the main character didn't feel like an overgrown/over-articulated teenager. Shay's written so maturely, and her history is already so dense that it's hard to believe she's only twenty-two.

The book's description doesn't do it justice, but it does highlight what I would say is the main flaw in the writing: Roccaforte often holds back information that's not really relevant to the plot, but that makes the characters make more sense, or that makes them resonate more. Especially during the introduction of our beefcake male characters, so many other details that ultimately ended up being irrelevant to the audience's relationship to them were pulled forward, that it was hard to follow how we were supposed to engage with them, and how Shay was engaging with them.

The focus on physical descriptions in their introductions, and their early scenes didn't really show them in enough dimension to make them feel like compelling romantic interests, in the first third or so. You can read that as my bias, since I don't think it's possible for the description of a man to make him attractive to me. That type of description is certainly not aimed at me. I was happy to find I could engage with them as people, as the story went on, and Roccaforte explored their distinct personalities more. But I would have preferred to see that from the beginning, if only because Shay already knows them, and engages with them that way, rather than the way you engage a handsome stranger at a coffee shop. It undermined the sense of her familiarity with them, in the beginning. Again, you can read that as my personal bias against thinking about guys' midsections. Personally, I enjoyed them more later, when the allusions to their physical studliness had taken second place to their disparate ways of handling things.

Though the relationships and characterizations ultimately end up making sense, it would have connected with me much more strongly had more of the backstory and exposition been placed earlier in the characters' appearances.

The beginning felt a bit bumpy, because of that. I was glad I stuck with it, though, because the story was quite fun when I got past that. Roccaforte is a writer catering to my own tastes (other than the beefcake); she's focused on witty dialogue and uniquely personal narration. I smiled through a lot of the caustic dialogue. I loved Shay's at times self destructively stupid outbursts. Even though I would have found many aspects of everyone's urge to protect her from herself, and help her through her current legal problems to be painfully claustrophobic, as she's written, she does too. I respect her for it.

At risk of spoiling anything, if you demand your plotlines be wrapped up with a pretty bow, you may enjoy Fine Lines more if you wait for book 2. The ending came very abruptly, and landed on a cliffhanger. There's a number of questions that must be answered in book 2 concerning minor characters, and the shape of the paranormal elements through the story. Roccaforte keeps you guessing, and at plays her hand close. Her writing is entertaining, and you'll want to spend more time with her characters, so the momentum should carry through well. Just- consider putting it on your to-read list for later, if you need a strong sense of resolution.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Roccaforte writes after she's finished with this series. I'm certainly not her target reader for this, but I would love to see her tackle a project with less focus on the constraints of writing loosely-genred romance. She writes wicked dialogue, and is downright funny, and I have to feel like her writing was a little restrained by the genre expectations, and the focus on immediate romance and attraction.

*I was given a copy of the ARC from the author for an honest review.*

O-Kay!!!
What the FUCK just happened? Did the book just end that way? Maybe my book reader doesn't work right. But unfortunately it does.
I've got to tell you, this book was a mindfuck. And I say that in the good way. I seriously didn't know where was up and where was down.
I liked Shay as a character but her roller coaster of emotions had me dizzy, actually in some cases nauseous. Just make up your mind already. With so many man candy in this book I kind of understand that her decision is impaired LOL.
I've got to say that although Eli hasn't had so much book space I liked him more than Aiden or Gabriel (whom I found somewhat creepy in his latest apparition). I am sorry she couldn't have faith in Eli and thought the worst of him, without confronting him and have a talk. And I'm kind of bummed she hasn't read his note. That picked my curiosity.
I don't know if the whole plot of the book is realistic with her being pinned for some murders just because of the drawings and not a iota of other evidence. I mean before you accuse somebody of murder and trash their name you'd better have all the evidence to convict them. Anyway it worked with the theme of the book.
I want to now more about McNab he's such an interesting character.
All in all it was a very good read.

Thank you Ms. Roccaforte.

WOW! Why did I wait so long to read this one??? It was so good!!! Love the authors writing style. The story is told in different points of view which I absolutely loved. We have Shay the main character, she is a comic book creator/designer, we have Aiden the love interest (one of them) then there's Eli the other love interest, it's a love triangle of sorts. But then we have Gabriel, another love interest. The story has a paranormal feel and some things that make you wonder in the story what is Shay and also Gabriel. I normally dislike love triangles but this author really made it work for me, she really wrote it so well that you never really want one over the other, I wanted and fell in love with Aiden and Eli equally. They even become sort of friends at one point and I loved their bonding. There are also many other very interesting characters in the story. We have McNab, he is sort of a tv celebrity, he works investigating paranormal and unexplainable events that happen to people. He is by far the most interesting character I have ever read about and I am left wanting to know more about him. There is also Harry, Shays dad, also a great character and one that gives a point of view in the story. We have a character that vanishes and I was left wondering what happened.

I will finish my review saying that the story has a MAJOR cliffhanger and I was left wanting more. I need to know what happens next like yesterday. The author knows how write a big finish to a story for sure. I feel like I want to scream because I just need to know...

Awesome book! Automatic 5 stars from me. Finished with a BANG!

Bella Roccaforte does such a wonderful job at pulling and her reader into a story that quickly spins out control.

Shay is a normal woman. She's been heart broken and has grown from it. Her career is taking off and is giving her an outlet. That is until the worst happens.

On her birthday her ex comes back into town and breaks into her house. From there things get a bit out of control.

Shay has to not only learn to trust again, but learn who to trust and how to trust in herself and in the fact she knows best for herself.

I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Vanishing Point! Bella is one of those authors that you can't help but love and follow her series because she just captures you and pulls you into a world that is like what happens in everyday life, but with a twist

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the Lovers of the Paranormal group in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book -- interesting, well-drawn characters, great pacing, fun story. It's also really refreshing to see a female protagonist in an unexpected profession, and have that become a central part of the action as well. The author clearly has a knowledge of and affection for comic-book art and culture, and it shows in the details in this book. The only drawback is that the main character sometimes seems a bit whiny and pouty, like an older version of Bella in the Twilight books -- and I really think she's a better and stronger person than that!

Warning: If you don't like paranormal, then this is the book for you! When I met Bella, I warned her that paranormal isn't my cup of tea, so be prepared for me to not like her book.

Well, hmmm... maybe I should quit saying that I don't like paranormal, because I definitely liked this book. Or maybe it is Bella's style of writing that makes me forget that freaky, freaky stuff. The way she flushes her characters out. The way she weaves her story into something, well, magical.

So, if you don't like paranormal, maybe you should start here.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ms. Roccaforte for offering up your story.

A multiple first person narrative novel, and it worked. Color me surprised. Ms. Roccaforte never leaves you wondering whose head you are in at any given time and her characters’ voices are clear and distinct. There is a lot of good in this novel.

Shay is finally finding some success as a comic book artist. Her newest venture Sanguine Specter is much anticipated and deliciously dark. What no one knows is that every scene has come straight out of her nightmares. When a murder occurs up the street and the police discover her drawings are straight off of the scene Shay finds herself dragged in on suspicion of murder. Surrounded by a bevy of boys: her semi-estranged father, the fly by night love of her life Aiden, her on again off again rock of an alcoholic Eli, the sexy man of her dreams Gabriel, and her friend and confidant McNab, Shay finds herself dodging the media while trying to clear her name.

There is an ease to this writer’s style that I very much enjoyed. The book flowed along nicely and I found myself very quickly drawn into the story. This is a solid 3 ½ stars for me. I find myself very curious to see where this series goes.

I had a few minor issues with the novel itself. First of all, my biggest complaint is that this feels like the first third or maybe half of a longer book. Just as the story is getting going all of a sudden you’re at the end with a major cliffhanger. I felt like I was watching one of my favorite shows and hit the mid-season break right at Christmas…tune back in in January/February and find out what happens with the rest of the season. There’s not enough of the story telling the first half of the season to feel like you got your full benefit in, but you’re ok because you know it’s coming back in just a few weeks to finish telling you what’s happening. It doesn’t feel like the end of a season cliffhanger where most of your storylines have been tied up and just to keep you interested we’ve decided to throw you a curve ball to keep you coming back 3 months later. I wanted that second half of a season to really make this book fly for me.

Also I had a hard time understanding why Aiden kept insisting Shay was different. I could follow why he would be worried about her with everything that was going on, but not how he could question if she is the same person. To even momentarily question whether the person you’re supposedly in love with had committed these gruesome murders she would have to be drastically different. We don’t see Shay prior to these events happening so anything she says or does, we as the audience, assume as normal for her. Another character we’re just getting to know insisting she’s different only comes across as confusing without an idea of how she was in the past to base off of. I believe Ms. Roccaforte has a prequel coming out which may help with this, but only having “Ink: Fine Lines” to base things off of I didn’t have enough information to see how she was different. Not to say that the events occurring around her weren’t strange, but Shay’s reactions seemed normal for someone going through what she was. If she would have reacted differently in the past we are unaware of it.

Lastly, everything was too easy once Shay was off the hook. She never had to do anything to get them to drop her as a suspect. Whatever it is that Eli did is all done off page, and Shay is presented with the results. Once everything is signed off on, the reporters magically disappear as well. It was a little bit too much of an instantaneous fix for me. One piece of paper isn’t going to let the entire world know you’re innocent in an instant. There is no statement to the media or anything that would account for it either. Minor thing, but it bugged me.

Altogether though my interest is peaked. I want to know what’s going on with Shay that she’s dreaming these murders. I’m curious about what has happened in the past with Shay’s mother and sister. There are all sorts of hints throughout the book of things to come and I want to know. The love triangle, or should I say square, is going to drive me batty I’m sure, but I’m jonesing to find out who Shay picks. Her feelings about any particular guy seem to flip flop from minute to minute as each one does something nice or vice versa messes up. Shay honestly doesn’t seem to know what she wants, and my curiosity is peaked to see how she’s going to handle Gabriel being real. I mean if the Specter is real, he has to be as well I would assume. Despite the times I wanted to slap Shay upside the head when she doesn’t give anyone a chance to explain anything or listen to anything they’re trying to say, I still like her and am rooting for her.

In the end there’s a lot of backstory about these characters left to be explained and a whole bunch of “fight the evil” left to go in the future. I will be back for book 2.

"What an adventure! This book wastes no time getting right into the thick of things with two gruesome murders!
Shay is a 22 year old comic artist and the star of this novel. She has been having dreams and nightmares involved her imaginative hero and dream hunk Gabriel and the evil Specter he is trying to stop. When she wakes she used these dream images fro her comic book. Yet something goes wrong and soon the specter is aware of her presence. The next day, the murders she depicts in her drawings are found to be a reality of her neighbors!
The story grabs you and doesn't let go. Even at the end, it hold you tight, waiting for more. A very consistent pace, with no lasting lulls in the plot. My favorite aspect of this book is the witty dialogue. Both spoken between characters and internal thought. Some examples that are used that amused me: “He’s the one that shit in this bed and has left me to lay in it every time. Now he can cuddle up with the big steaming pile.” and “His birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory.” There are many, many more throughout the book. Shay's perspective never lets up. And we are in luck! We also get some of the story from others perspectives as well.
One such character is Aiden. Now he is a piece of work. He and Shay were apparently in some on/off again relationships together then he would take off for months at a time suddenly. Now he is back and even when she asks him to leave he refuses. He lies to her and others I just plain don't trust him.
Truth be told I do not trust any of the characters! The mystery of who the murderer may be never ends! Not to mention what the motives are of the various characters in general. We have Aiden who shows up the night of the murders and has more lies about him than I care to know about, Eli who is the DA pulling some fast moves. He isn't too bad but he has a drinking problem that may cause trouble. Her father, who knows more about some past incident that may be in relation to what is happening, McNab, the paranormalist who is very interested in what is going on. Plus other characters... I love that I got to keep wondering and seconding guessing everyone's intentions and wondering how it all ties together.
One thing I didn't care for was the triangle drama between Shay, Eli and Aiden. She really jumps around between them on an emotional whim. Plus there is 'Gabriel.' I wish she would pick one and deal with and own up to her own choices! But no... While I love Shay overall, her dashing between men frustrated me. Also I wanted more info as to what happened between Aiden, Shay and Eli. We are lacking a lot of back-story.
More backround story is also missing about Shay's sister who seems to play some hidden part in things. What exactly happened to her? I am hoping and guessing that these questions will be answered in the next book. I have high expectations and demands for these questions o be answered.
Also, if Shay is 22, why has she already accumulated several engagement rings? Did she start accepting proposals at age 15? And her friend Trish is 21 yet been through 4 divorces?! These things take time and the timing verses their age does not feel very real.
Regardless of these questions, as they are small and do not take away from the plot as of yet, I deeply enjoyed this read. The style is a great combination of being friendly and witty, with a dark and sinister twist. While there is the romantic interests it does not detract from the story and I loved that fact. I also like how we would get the various perspectives, even Aiden's regardless of how much he annoyed me screwing with Shay and Eli at every turn. I want to see more Eli in the next one! Overall, well done Bella Roccaforte on your debut novel! I look forward to the next installment!

*Please Note, I have received confirmation that these is a second book coming out soon that has been promised to answer many of these questions! :)

*I got this in exchange for a fair/honest review.

I received this book from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock in exchange for an honest review.

I had hoped when I first began reading this book that it would not follow the current trend and leave the reader on a cliffhanger. Alas, I was disappointed. I have read several series within the paranormal romance genre and in other genre fiction and, while there is an over-arching story that connects the books, each book is some-what standalone. I'm not sure why there is such a trend towards cliffhanger books, particularly within the paranormal romance genre (this is about the fifth such book I have read). An author really needs to have grabbed my attention and held it through the pages of the book to make me want to get the next book in such a series rather than throw my hands up in disgust and swear to never read another book by that author, at least in that series. I'm on the fence as to where I stand with this book. I'm willing to give the author, and the series, another shot, however. If cliffhanger endings bother you, then I would say that you might not be happy reading this book; nor is there a Happily Ever After ending that some expect with any type of romance novel.

This book has a lot of good things going for it. The author has made use of the different POV chapters and the characters are fully-fleshed enough that the book doesn't read as though the author has simply slapped a character's name on the chapter, hoping that will be enough for the reader to know whose POV she is using. The dialogue is well-done and I never had the "people don't really talk like that" reaction that I get from some other books in this genre. There are a couple of sex scenes but they are not overly-explicit, holding true to form with many of the other books in the New Adult genre of fiction.

My two issues with the book are the aforementioned cliffhanger ending and the fact that there were several places throughout the book where I had to look to make sure that I was reading book one. The author alludes to several pieces of history between the characters and doesn't fully explain them, which made me feel like I was coming in on Act Two. The author had an excellent idea which did not fully reach its potential. It is my hope that she continues to grow as an author so that future outings in this world are more fully fleshed out.

Everything I love about the paranormal. I have to say that I love the various POV with the characters. The reader knew exactly what the true motives and feelings of that character. Which made the story and made the dynamic between the characters that much better. Shay is a graphic artist who designs graphic novels for a living. Little did she know that the scenes 'Gabriel' the specter shows her in her dreams have come to life that is until her neighbors are brutally murdered. A murder Det. Simmons seems convinced she has committed. Then there is the ever going love triangle between Aiden (the guy who leaves when things get serious) and Eli (the one who is always around to clean up the pieces). Then there's her father Harry who hasn't moved on from the death of his wife and daughter Elise. She is also friends with McNab knowledgeable in the paranormal and is convinced that a not so friendly spirit has latched on to her and wants to do everything to help her get rid of it. Its apparent throughout the story that the spirit wants something but what? It starts out friendly enough but things escalate quickly. Her dreams are bleeding into her real life. Visions of Aiden hurt, writings on the mirror, an encounter at signing. Yeah something is up. Once she is officially cleared of the murders it seems that Aiden and Shay are set to start their romance then something happens I didn't see coming. So a few questions I need answered: Why didn't Shay open the letter Eli gave her? What exactly was Aiden up to in Tibet? She clearly loves them both but who is her true love? What happened to Clark? Everything that's happening to Shay does it have anything to do with how she lost her mother and sister? Who is Gabriel and what does he want from Shay? Good thing this series is slated for 5 more books because I don't think it can be answered in just one. Towards the end you are left with more questions then answers and you are not so anticipating what happens next. It's rare that I find a paranormal book that I love that is also realistic. This was like an amazing paranormal movie but it was a book. Vivid descriptions and characters that suck you into the story. I'm more than ready for the next one.

First off I would like to thank the author Bella Roccaforte for giving me an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

Wow this book could be phenominal. This is not the typical paranormal haunting story. The author introduces us to a whole new world. This is a dark twisty story with some comedy thrown inof The book was an easy read set at a good pace. She gave you the right info at the right time no annoying dumps of information or dull points in the story line. All the characters had a specific roll to play and were well developed. There is a love triangle that is the typical who do I love which guy is right for me. However it is not full of annoying make out scenec and I really appreciate that. Her way of describing the "dream/murder scenes" are detailed with just enough gory to make them intersting without making them gross.
Shay is easy to love and wont take crap from anybody. Aiden is the wanna be boyfriend with a lot off the comic releif ".( I'm here to protect her from syhilis infected crotch pheasants. Oh look the first one of the day" Ok loved the way he would throw insults at Trish. I laughed out loud and had several people look at me like I was nuts! Eli could be such an amazing guy if he didnt drink.
The only problem I had with this book is there was not enough of the "spector". We caught glimpses of him throughout the book but the story focused more on Shay and her struggle. I wish there was more of the murderer in this. Finally he shows up and the book ends! Tragic I was so mad that the book ended how it did and when it did. Talk about keeping you waiting for the next one to come out. I hope its soon I am dying toknow what happens. I would recomend this book to anyone who wants a good fast paced paranormal NA book.
Again I would like to thank the author for letting me read her book.

I received this book for in exchange for an honest opinion.

I had seen this book on a few blog site and didn't know if I fancied it. When I read the synopsis it stirred my interest. We meet Shay Banes. A comic book artist who just been recognised. Aides and Eli are both clamouring for Shay's attention. Aiden and Eli are both on again off again with Shay, Aidens trouble is he just keeps getting up and leaving. And since he's been gone this time Shays got stronger in herself. Eli is a great guy too a lawyer, and loves Shay too, but he drinks.

When the comics Shay is writing start coinciding with the murders that are happening in real life. Is Shay the murderer or is it something else.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down.i read it in one sitting. It had me constantly guessing and waiting for things to reveal themselves. Bella has done a fantastic job with this book, I'm not loving the cover its ok. But don't judge a book by the cover right? I can't say too much about this book in fear of giving something away. What I will say is you need to read it. I don't usually or haven't read anything like this before and I am so glad I did.

I liked Shay she was outspoken and trusted her instincts. Aidens a bit of a player I think. I like Eli but he need to get his drinking in order. I loved the pace and style of this book it's grabs you in and doesn't let go. When it finished I was like What? Seriously?

I can't wait to read part 2. Bella I loved this book but seriously the way it ended- I constantly guessing now. If I was watching the tv or a movie I would be screaming at the screen.

We live in the era of creative replication where a successful endeavor in this or that genre is endlessly repeated until the original itself loses its value. It was therefore my pleasure to read a story that was actually an original idea and a fresh take on the NA genre. There were a number of things I really liked about the story - I liked the storytelling skill of the author who is able to expertly navigate the murky waters of multiple core characters and flesh them out as human beings - not cardboard cutouts. I liked the darker themes of the novel as well as the way they were balanced out by lighter elements - all blending to create an atmosphere of a spooky, sexy, fun and dangerous world populated by characters who were not born on the first page of the novel but are instead people who have had lives before the novel and will have one after the novel. The one thing that annoyed me was the cliffhanger ending as I feel that a bit more needed to be told before the current story arc was complete. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this novel to NA genre fans (especiall the female fans:)) and will look forward to reading the continuation of the tale.

First I would like to thank Lovers of Paranormal group for giving me this book for an honest review. The main character Shay has a lot going on in her life. She has dreams and Gabriel her dream man shows her things. She makes her living as a comic book artist and her story lines are coming to close to reality. This book is written very well, I found myself liking the characters and wanting to know more about them. I found them being very believable. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I just finished an ARC of this book and was enthralled right off the bat. I really liked the writing style and the different points of view. You could tell the characters each had their own voice. I do wish that Shay was a little less concerned with her comic and more concerned with the events unfolding but I think this was a great beginning to a new series! It was new and original story which I appreciated!

This story had me going back and forth. I don't normally read what I consider "scary" books. To me this book is scary, but at the same time, I couldn't stop reading it. I still want to know what is happening, who the specter is, whom will she choose. This is such a great story. It really sucked me in. The writing is great, characters and secondary characters are awesome. The storyline flows and keeps you guessing. Now its on to book two!!!

2 Stars "It Was OK"

INK: Fine Lines is the first in the series and follows Shay, a young woman aspiring to be a comic book artist. Her twin sister is dead, her mother is dead, she is somewhat estranged from her father.

The story begins with Shay's birthday, her on-again-off-again boyfriend Aiden shows up at her house and, despite her protests decides to crash at her place. Shay awakes from a nightmare and heads off to her art studio in her garage to draw out the scenes for her comic book, about a specter who is murdering people. Soon enough, Shay is arrested for a double murder and her world spirals out of control.

Onto the review.... To begin with, I won a free ebook copy ARC from a blog, I probably would never have paid for this with my own money.

THE GOOD:
This book is well written and the storyline is interesting.

The prologue starts out with a bloody, gruesome bang. I'm not really a fan of horror, but Ms. Roccaforte did a brilliant job writing the prologue murder scene.

This book also contained numerous one-liners that had me chuckling, always a good thing!

McNab. Finally, someone who seemed to move the story forward.

The end - something FINALLY happened and it was an epic WTF?!? moment.

THE BAD:
The cover. I'm sorry, but this cover does nothing for me. The angle of the girls face is just not appealing at all. The title is nice and big to read as a small image, so that's about all the good I can say about it.

Once I got past the prologue I just kept waiting for something to happen. We get a lot of drama between our protagonist Shay and the men in her life - the bad boy Adien who constantly asks her to marry him, only to turn tail and run, and Eli, the childhood friend who has always been here for her, but has his own demons - namely, a drinking problem. I got sick of watching Shay switch between them at the drop of a hat. She'd be hardcore macking on Eli one minute, then an hour later sucking face with Aiden. Either pick one, or let them go.

If I had been editing this book I would have said, cut down the first half of the book, make the current ending the climax, and put a little more at the end. One of the key rules to writing is that something has to happen. You have to have a sense of urgency for the protagonist so that the story moves forward and the audience is engaged. I didn't feel that hardly at all. Shay, in her head, was somewhat distressed about everything that was happening, but her actions didn't reflect it. I can't imagine, being accused of murder, and then going on with life as if nothing had happened.

I won't be reading the next book in this series. Though I'm slightly curious to know WTF was going on in the last scene, I simply can't bring myself to care enough to read it.

There are a number of good reviews out there, I seem to be in the minority, so if you liked this book: Great!

If you didn't care for this book, well, you're in good company.

And again, I'll say, the book was well written. It was essentially the pacing I had trouble with.

I have been given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The main character of this book, Shay Banes, is an independent comic book writer and illustrator who finds that her comics have started to reflect, with deadly accuracy, a series of actual murders. She is also intertwined with her past and present loves, but cannot decide which truly rules her heart, or if either can be trusted to.

The good about this book: Roccaforte is a witty writer, and she instills the best part of that sense of satiric humor in both her character Shay, and the overall feel of the book. This balances the dark themes of emotional blowback and violence that stand as backdrop to her work. Not many writers can pull this off without it becoming a signatory part of the character's personality, which only works if it's deliberate (Harry Dresden, anyone?). She also has a subtle way of drawing out character traits that, as an author myself, I really admire; Shay's interaction in Chapter 10 with Eli is very good for exactly this reason as she creates an instant contrast in values between the men in her life.

The not-so-good about this book: Multiple narrators did not add to this story. I found as I moved through the book that the other narrators were superfluous. In the first book of a series in which the hook of the novel focuses on the main character, a writer must allow the reader to experience the thoughts, perspective, and sense of peril through that character's story. The multiple narrators detract from the building tension which kept easing off as they budded in on Shay's story. A straight-forward narrative would have been more forthright in telling this story, or perhaps the epistolary style would have been interesting to see instead.

It also must be mentioned that the police in this book are the kindest, most unprofessional police I've seen outside of Mayberry; they seem to be drawn from police procedural shows. Luckily, none of them wore sunglasses and dropped a tagline at the end of a chapter. Murder is a serious crime, and even though her father is a cop, Shay was treated with the ultimate in kid gloves: police are not your friends, and unless there is a discreet distance between suspect and cop, you lose authenticity.

To be succinct about this book in a final summation, I would say that it is well-written, and that Shay is an enjoyable character to follow, but the book needed an editor to kick the tires before it was roadworthy.

Ink: Fine Lines by Bella Roccaforte sounded interesting. It has a woman, Shay, who is a comic book artist. She has two guys, Aiden and Eli, who love her. There is a murder mystery. It’s classified as paranormal suspense. It has a Goodreads rating of 4.16.

So.. I hope I find some better books for you. The premise sounded good but I didn’t like the book. I didn’t like any of the characters or their dialogue. They were boring. I didn’t admire them. They didn’t seem very real to me, and I didn’t understand the paranormal aspect until the last third of the book. The chapters kept shifting to being told from different points of view, which reminds me of fanfiction, so I didn’t mind it. At least, I had an idea, of main characters’ thoughts.

There wasn’t much romance. The love triangle seemed too weird since why would anyone fall in love with Shay? I didn’t feel anything special about her. The two guys did not attract me. There were some make out scenes in the book, but no real sex. I didn’t find it arousing. I disliked how Shay would be hot for one and then the other. She got mad at Eli because she made a false assumption and wouldn’t even speak to him briefly. The book ended and she still didn’t know she had the wrong information.

The plots in the book are pretty much all left hanging. The murders aren’t really resolved. The love triangle doesn’t get to one couple. We don’t really know much about Shay’s mother or father or twin sister. We don’t learn about the paranormal investigator, McNab and what his deal is. His security guy, Carl, disappears and we never find out what happened to him. There is a guy in Shay’s nightmares, Gabriel, and we don’t learn more about him. It would have been nice if something had been settled.

I understand this is the first in a series so some things will be ongoing. I just couldn’t get interested enough in the characters or any story line enough to want to read another book. It was hard to finish this one.

One word...INTENSE! This book is paranormal, mystery, thriller, and romance all rolled into one great story. We meet the main character Shay who has so much crazy going on you really have to feel for her. Besides being in a seriously sexy and annoying love triangle she also happens to have some very crazy and scary dreams where a terrible entity is committing horrible murders which Shay uses to draw a comic series. Problem with that is the dreams start hitting a little closer to home than she would like. When shit hits the fan Shay has to rely on her guys to help and that definitely doesn't go smoothly. The characters are interesting and I have a feeling that there is going to be a whole lot more to their back stories that will tie everything together in the later books. There were a few parts that were a little confusing but they eventually explained themselves as the book went on. The plot was definitely unique and we never did find out exactly what the big bad scary is or what it's end game will be. All I know is this was a page turner and I very much look forward to finding out what happens next. In my opinion INK:Fine Lines is definitely recommended!

If you like a Paranormal read with a mystery that will keep you going until the end of the book, and leave you wanting to find out more. Here it is, you have a girl that is somehow connect to something that is murdering people, and to make it worse Shay is going to become the suspect. Shay has painted a comic that is in the process of being published, and it is picturing the murders in detail.
Then every good book needs a little love in it, and you will find out that Shay is caught in a love triangle between Aiden, Eli, and Gabriel, but who is the mystery guy Gabriel is he real, or just a figment of her imagination.
So who gets the girl?, Is she a murder?, and Who is she connected to, and how will he effect her future.

So pick this book up today, and start reading. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.

Bella Roccaforte has a clear and descriptive writing style, one that effectively brings her characters to life.

The originality of the story was fascinating and clever and I was successfully drawn into the plot and the characters' lives. There were times I was a little frustrated by the main character, which I think is a testament to the author's ability to create a realistic character. I felt something toward her enough to actually believe in her; this is a good thing.

I was taken on a pretty mindblowing journey filled with twists and turns like no other. I may have even experienced a little bit of whiplash.

A fascinating and worthwhile read.

I've been holding on to this one for a few weeks now, I wasn't sure that I could handle something heavy at the time, and I am really glad that I waited. Shay is a typical girl torn between two loves, Aiden and Eli. To me they both seem like good choices, even though Aiden has a tendency to leave Shay just when things get serious.
Though that isn't the point of this book, Shay is having "dreams" of gruesome murders and while she believes that they are just dreams, reality proves that they are really happening and she is a suspect because she is using her dreams to "draw" her comic.

The ending is killing me, because I have been put on a book buying ban and can't get ahold of the next book in the series until next month :(

The main character Shay has a lot going on in her life. To deal with it all she has her dream lover, Gabriel. Gabriel meets her in the dreams and shows her things. Unfortunately, what he has been showing her is crime scenes. She makes her living as a comic book artist and her story lines are coming to close to reality.

This book is written very well, I found myself liking the characters and wanting to know more about them. This is not one of my typical genres of reading but I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in no time and I so look forward to the sequel. The ending leaves you in a cliff hanger.

I really enjoyed Fine Lines. I love how it has the POV's of the different characters, and I love the writing style. It keeps you interested. This was hard to put down. I love the way Shay dreams of things, and they end up about something that was real. I love Shay, I love her sassiness and attitude. The only thing I do not care for is the love triangle. I don't like love triangles. The story is so good with this book, the love triangle does not bother me. As I am reading, I am very intrigued with Gabriel, all while thinking "Who is this guy? and "Is he real?" Oh WOW! What an exciting ending! It's a cliff hanger, I don't normally like cliff hangers, but this one was WOW!.

I like a good book that keeps me on my toes. This book dose that. You don't know what's going to happen next. I couldn't help but keep turning the pages. It dose get a little slow at times but it's quick to pick right back up. I like that it has multiple POVs. This is a series and has a cliffhanger. Books 2 is out and book 3 will be out soon. This was a good first book to what seems to me to be a good Mystery with a paranormal bad guy that has me spooked! I liked it. I say worth the read. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review for LoP. Amazing reading and very intense. Shay is a comic book drawer. On her birthday her old lover Aiden shows up. Shay has nightmare and draws out the murders of her neighbors. Everyone thinks she is a murder. This book was very intense but good.

This is a very interesting story. I enjoyed the characters, the mystery, and the darkness of it. I have to admit that for me it was told in so many povs that I did get a bit frustrated from time to time. I’m still going to be recommending this book and will be looking forward to reading the next in the series.
