Ryker and his brothers have been hunting the creatures of darkness their whole lives. Sanctioned by the church, they are assigned to terminate vampires, shifters, witches and the like. All evil beings who use their powers to enslave or destroy humans. It's not a job with a long life expectancy, but hunting is a family calling that goes back generations. The light in his world of darkness is Jenna, the very human woman he loves, but when she disappears suddenly and without a trace he spends the next two years focused on his hunting; trying to understand her betrayal and recover from his broken heart.

Jenna loved Ryker with all her heart and probably always will. Leaving him wasn't a choice she wanted to make but one she was forced to when a deeply hidden family secret came to light that would have changed the foundation of their relationship forever. Rather than hurt Ryker with her dangerous secret she chose to protect them both by running and never looking back. Life is lonely without him but she believes the her pain is a small price to pay for their lives.

When Ryker learns that another hunter has targeted Jenna he knows it must be a mistake and throws himself into finding the woman he once lived for and for whom his heart still longs. Time has changed them both but the fires of passion still burn between them. When Jenna's secret comes out, Ryker must make the choice between listening to his mind or his heart. The list of people they can trust is growing shorter by the minute and with their lives in danger, having a future together may not be a choice they are going to live long enough to make.

A passionate and well written novella length paranormal romance that shows readers that when darkness and light collide, sparks will fly! I was drawn into the emotional challenges the two main characters faced as they lost one another and then were given the opportunity to fight for a second chance. This was my first book by author Gwen Knight; I will be coming back for more!

A copy of A Hunter's Passion was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ryker Bennett is a hunter. For centuries his family have all lived by the code of a hunter. Their task given to them by the church to hunt down and kill creatures of the dark. Whatever they may be: witches, vampires, or werewolves. When he is handed the name of his only love as his next assignment he knows there has to be a mistake. His beautiful Jenna couldn't possibly be a witch. Was that why she really left him two years ago? He is determined to find out the answers he needs before she meets her end.

Jenna Sinclair made a decision to leave Ryker to protect him. Knowing that he hunted the things that go bump in the night, how could she stay with him when she discovered her heritage? She is shocked when she sees Ryker again. The love and attraction that she felt for him never went away. And she must come to grips with the reason that he is there. Because this time it's her he's hunting.

I liked Ryker from the beginning. He was strong in his convictions and yet had doubts where Jenna was concerned. I loved seeing him as he realized that things aren't always black and white. There are always shades of grey. I gotta admit that now I'm curious about his brothers that were teased along in the story. I'm really hoping that they each get their own books.

Jenna seemed strong one minute and like a wilting flower the next. There was a vulnerability to her that came thru. She had passion and fire (no pun intended) in her that came out when it was needed the most.

Even though this was a relatively fast read it left me feeling satisfied with the storyline. Can't wait to see what Gewn Knight comes up with next.

Trust Your Instincts

Ryker is in the family business. He hunts the supernatural creatures that prey on humans. He thought Jenna had run as far from him as she could two years ago because of his occupation. As a hunter, he knew his bloody work would send females screaming into the night. Now, when he's given the name of next dark prey to take down, he's shocked to find it's Jenna.

Jenna is a sweet librarian with a secret life. She's a witch. And when she meets the compelling Ryker again after two years, she knows she's Ryker's next target.

Ryker has hunted vampires, demons, werewolves, shape-shifters, and witches. Can the cynical hunter find the shimmering strand of love in the dark, tangled skein of evil?

The Hunter's Passion, by Gwen Knight, is a short romance well worth the read. Ms. Knight uses her words wisely, and constructs characters with strengths and weaknesses. Tough Ryker, fearless in battle with horrible nightmarish entities, has a cute little phobia. I particularly like Father Stewart, the renegade, flask-toting priest. Of course, the whiskey he carries is for medicinal purposes.

This paranormal novella is a riveting read that keeps the adrenaline pumping. Ryker Bennett has dedicated his life to hunting creatures of the dark but his latest assignment has him questioning everything he ever believed in. Jenna Sinclair may be a witch, but she’s the only woman he’s ever loved.

This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats with lots of action, suspense and romance. The author captures the imagination with well written scenes and details that make it easy for the reader to picture the story as it happens and the strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Jenna and Ryker radiates heat from every page and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the fact that Ryker is duty bound to kill Jenna makes things a little awkward. Jenna captures the heart of the reader with the sacrifice she made for Ryker and brings tears to the eyes when Ryker finds her.

The author manages to tell a big story in a just a few words and I found this one to be an enjoyable and entertaining quick read with captivating characters.

One word that comes to me after reading this book is MORE. I want more. More information on the brothers, more information of Ryker and Jenna’s relationship and what blew down 2 years before. It would be very good to read details about her coming into her powers, her struggle to leave or stay. I love the concept of the brothers hunting down “evil” or what they are told is evil down for the church. I think a lot of details and development went into Ryker, while the other characters fell flat a bit. I was disappointed in how Jenna seemed weak and flat. This was a short story. I would like to have read it developed into a full length novel, with secondary books of the brothers to come. The flask carrying priest was classic. Love that. The twist of the certain person who portrays a friend who is actually not was a nice twist that I did not see coming. Too bad it was so short, it made everything seem very glossed over. So with all that said, it was a great short story. But it could be a knockout novel.

Ryker Bennett and Jenna Sinclair are two lovers who are torn apart in this short story by Gwen Knight.

Ryker Bennett is a Hunter, someone who hunts down and kills darklings - witches, vampires, and werewolves. Aided by the Church he and his four brothers are given the name of the darkling that they need to kill. After discovering she is a witch Jenna Sinclair left Ryker two years ago to protect him from having to make a choice, following his brothers and their church sworn duty to kill her or going against everything he knows to choose her and their love.

One day Ryker's family was assigned a familiar name - Jenna's. What happens after he tracks her down is what makes this short story worth reading. Perfect for a break, or lunch time reading. I'd love to see this story and thoughtful characters expanded upon and have a full length novel follow-up.

Loved it!! This is he second book I read by Gwen Hunter and I loved it just like the first one. This is a short short but had a lot of hot, sexy action and a HEA! Ryker and Jenna had such a loving, hot relationship that ended two years ago when Jenna, a witch, can into her powers left so Ryker, a Hunter, didn't have to choose between her and his duty to the Church and his brothers who are also Hunters. This book was a roller coaster ride from start to finish! Can't wait to see more books about those hot Bennett brothers and see how everyone is handle the relationship between Ryker and Jenna.

This book was gifted to me for a honest review...

This book is even better than her first one. Jenna and Ryker are so perfect for one another - even if family and their supernatural world structure say it's impossible and wrong. Besides Gwen Knight's usual elegant writing style, this book threw in a betrayal that caught me by surprise -- always a good thing. I also really loved the scenes of passion and how Jenna reigns in and controls the element of fire.

Fast-paced and touching, this love story is a winner!

Jenna was very surprised to discover her witch heritage when her magic came in at age 25.

she unfortunately gained the ability to see, in a vision, exactly how awful the deaths of her Gran and mother were.

what she could not see was who the hunter was.

she knew that her beloved Ryker was also a hunter, so was forced to leave hum.

fast forward 2 years, and her bestie Kara and she see Ryker's arrival, as a Hunter who has received Jenna's name as a darkling target.

Kara is a freelancer. So poor Jenna is hunted by both friend and lover - until Ryker admits he cannot bear to hunt family, which Jenna is to him.

Bigger betrayal: Kara is the one who killed mom and Gran.

twisted steamy tale of mixed up family trees.

Raises questions about who is really evil and deserving or death or "justice".

steamy m/f romance - but it sounds like more bumps ahead, so not yet and hea.

Ryker has only ever loved one woman Jenna but she walked away from him two years ago and never looked back. He works for the church as a hunter of the paranormal and now his brother has given him his next target and it is Jenna. Jenna is a witch he may have only discovered it two years ago and it may have caused her to walk away from the only man she has ever loved. Now Ryker must make a decision kill the woman he loves or try and protect her from his family and other hunters. This is a short story in a few places it appeared rushed but that is to be expected when it is a novella

This short story feels so much larger. We have a different mythology. Vamps, wares, and witches aka "Darklings" are bad and Hunters put them down. But we all know sometimes dark things come in shades of gray and are awfully close to not dark at all. This tale of second chance love makes Ryker examine his beliefs and his heart and stand up for what he knows is right. Loved these characters, I hope for more of this "world".

I really like coming across a paranormal that will right away grab ahold of you like this one will. As soon as I started on this one Ryker catches your curiosity with how will he handle his greatest assignment. Jenna will seal it all in when her story comes along with her part in this. You are slowly put on edge wondering what will become of the two with will they survive. I got my questions answered with now liking how this author really does it well with paranormal.

Full of Passion

I am not sure what I would do if I was required to kill someone that I loved. Being trained my wgole for something, only to want to go against it.

You can feel all the emotions that are going thru Ryker with every turn of the page. You sit there and wonder what he is going to do when he finds the one true love of his life.

But think about it just like he has to think, just cause the church says their evil, does that really make it so?

Until Next Time.... Tabi

Ryker is a hunter of all dark creatures. Two years ago, he lost the love of his life, Jenna. She thought she was doing the right thing, but when Ryker shows up in her life again, she isn't sure she will be able to let him go again, no matter the cost. He is determined to get to the truth.
I really enjoyed this and was surprised by the other hunter. Can't wait to read more about his brothers!

Jenna left Ryker for the right reasons, because she discovered she was a witch, the very thing that Ryker and his brothers were trained to hunt and kill. But now that Ryker has found her again he knows he can't kill her because he still loved her. And he'll do what he must to protect her. Nice storytelling!

A quick paranormal read with a great premise. I thought there could have more to the story if the author chose to explore them further, so I was disappointed at the length. They seemed liked great characters and I wish the story could have delved more into them individually as well as a couple prior to this book. It was a good story. I just wish there had been more.

Original review here: http://offbeatvagabond.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-hunters-passion-blog-tour-book-review.html

A Hunter's Passion is a quick and sexy read that follows a man named Ryker. Ryker is a Hunter. He comes from a family of Hunters. They go an hunt all the things that go bump in the night, Vampires, werewolves, witches, and others. Ever since the Salem Witch Trials, his family has follows the Church and their orders to eradicate evil. After nearly getting his throat ripped out by a vampire, Ryker receives news that is much worse than a bite. One of his brothers tells him the love of his life is a witch. His brother thinks it is best for Ryker to kill her before they do. Ryker's world is turned upside down, but not as much as Jenna's. The moment she sees Ryker, she knows what he has come to do. But she can't help that she still has feelings for him as well.

I really liked this story a lot. It is a super short read. I really wish it were longer so I could get a grasp off all the characters. But this story's main focus is Jenna and Ryker. I really liked them a lot. Jenna is pretty much a hermit. She is shy and keeps to herself. But she has to given her abilities. Her emotions are connected with her power and she could hurt someone if she gets too out of control. Ryker is a super dedicated Hunter. All he has are his brothers who are all Hunters. They never deviate out of this no matter the who or the why. Ryker battles quite a bit with his feelings for Jenna and his life as a Hunter. He doesn't want to go against his family and the Church, but he has already lost Jenna and she isn't evil like he has been led to believe.

Not only do we see how Ryker has to make a choice between Jenna and his brothers, but Jenna has her own battles. She never knew there was magic in her family. Being a witch is new territory for her. She knows she is being hunted, but not by Ryker. A Hunter has brutally murdered her mom and grandmother who were both witches. She knows it is a matter of time before the Hunter finds her. I love where this bit goes. I would have never guessed and I am usually good at it. It was a great surprise. I would have liked a bit more of an explanation, but still, it was great.

The book really shines when Ryker and Jenna are together, I loved seeing Jenna break out of her shelf. She seems like a bit of a vixen. I would have loved more of that. That really is the biggest issue with the book. This is a really short story and there are just little things I would have liked more of. The characters kind of lack a bit of personality most of the time. But like I said, when Ryker and Jenna are together, we get a lot of heat and we see how playful they are to each other. I hope this grows into a series and we get more on the characters, specifically the brothers. My interest is piqued especially with Mason. He seems like the leader and a bit of a brute.

Overall, this was a pretty good read. I love this idea of Hunters and the Church. The Hunters slowly finding out maybe the things they are hunting aren't as evil as the Church has led them to believe. I would love to see more of this world, hopefully in a 200+ page book. This book had action, lies, deceit and it was super sexy. I definitely say to check this out.

A Hunter's Passion is another winner from Gwen Knight! After devouring Gwen's debut work, Her Alpha Protector, I couldn't wait to get my hands on A Hunter's Passion. This story was just what I needed to satisfy my paranormal romance craving.

Since the Salem witch trials, the Church has been dedicated to getting rid of darkness by killing off paranormal beings such as witches, vampires and werewolves. For centuries Ryker's family has been the church's weapon for doing so and each new generation of the Bennett family takes the oath to purge the world of evil. Ryker is an excellent hunter; hunt and kill without mercy is his motto. He carries out his job without question, but when he is handed his latest assignment of finding and killing Jenna, a witch and former lover, he faces a struggle.

Jenna left Ryker two years ago in hopes that he will never have to choose between his duty and their forbidden love. However, fate has more in store for these two. When Ryker finds Jenna, the passion and desire between them are still very much present. Ryker is still in love with Jenna and vice versa. Although it is his duty to kill Jenna he simply can't fulfill the act. The world may view Jenna as darkness, but to him she is his light and he will do anything to protect her...even if it means going against his own brothers and everything he's ever believed in.

A Hunter's Passion was a wonderful story. Ryker was a hero you could easily fall for. He possessed qualities that made him an easily loveable hero. He was righteous, honorable, loving, caring and loyal to the bone. When it came to Jenna, he was willing to go against his own beliefs and family to be with her. He was a fighter 'til the end and I loved him for that. Jenna was also wonderful as a heroine. She had strong characteristics, but also possessed vulnerabilities as well. I adored that she was willing to fight for their future, but also loving Ryker enough to sacrifice their future to be together so he wouldn't have to fight against his own brothers in order to be with her.

Ryker and Jenna's struggles to be together were emotional, but it made their happy ever after all the more sweeter. I really enjoyed the conflict, the suspense plot and the twist in the story. All of this combined made this story an easy page turner. I certainly found A Hunter's Passion to be a highly enjoyable read although I wished it was longer. This book will leave you wanting more and luckily there will be more coming from Gwen with Ryker's brothers. To say that I am excited is an understatement. I am so ready for more of the Bennett brothers!

Overall, A Hunter's Passion was a sweet, sexy page turner and truly a romantic read from beginning to end. I've read and loved every book Gwen has put out so far and she is an author I will look forward to reading more from. I do hope she'll write longer stories in the future because she is an excellent storyteller.

You’re mine tonight, hunter.

“Work your magic,” he whispered. WOW! just WOW! What a great story! I absolutely adored it! So much so that I read from start to finish in one go! Then I went back and re-read most of it again looking for signs I figured I had missed that first time...but I didn't find any! Gwen sure knows how to write a terrific story with enough suspense, intrigue & mystery in it while at the same time avoiding leaving any clues to solve them, or figure them out on your own. Isn't that the best part though?!? Hmmmm, well, maybe the best part is the smokin' hot romance. Or is it the surprises? The shock & 'say what' moments? Well personally I think it is ALL of that and more! There is also humor, loyalties, friendship, responsibilities & duties "She was his responsibility and no one else’s.", hunter, witch "For two years he’d dreamed of finding her, but not like this. Not hunting her for being a witch.", predator & prey, and even more! This is one of those stories where you hope it ends a certain way, and you think it will, but then while you are reading it, you are thinking that there is no possible way for that ending to happen! So kudos to Gwen for thinking outside of the 'book'! LOL I loved the characters, their history and the duty that Ryker's family has been doing for centuries alongside the Church. " But was Jenna darkness? To him, she was light." The questions that I had about those duties actually ended up being exactly what this story dealt with! Gwen held me spellbound in the clutches of this story, mesmerized & held captive from beginning to end! I only hope that more stories will follow involving each of the brothers finding their respective other halves so that I can spend more time in a world I initially didn't think I would like, and by the ending I was right. I didn’t like it – I LOVED IT TO BITS & BITS! (Yes I am intentionally being vague because I don't want to ruin it for you!) All in all I loved this story and can't wait to start my next Gwen Knight book! Or bookS I should say! She can write multiple stories that are all brilliant, wonderful, riveting & captivating, and while they are all under the 'paranormal umbrella', that is where the resemblances, likenesses & comparisons end. No matter the length of the book, the complexity of the storyline, the paranormals involved, the number of characters, or any & all combinations, each story is terrific, unique, marvellous and utterly furelicious! They suck you right in until you are one with the story, experiencing what the characters are, feeling what they feel & loving every minute of it! As they say – the proof is in the pudding! Or in this case, the books! Gwen truly is a phenomenally talented author who will forever remain in my list of “fantastic authors & books to read over & over”!!

For generations the Bennett family has been tasked with hunting down and eliminating the creatures of the dark, never questioning the orders and names they are given. When Jenna Sinclair is next on the list, Ryker can’t believe that the only woman he has ever loved, who left him two years ago without explanation, could possibly be a witch. When he also finds out that another hunter is also after her, he knows he needs to find her first to find out the truth.

I just loved Ryker – he was totally bad-ass, yet super sweet and protective when it comes to Jenna. Jenna started off as a pretty weak character, but I loved that she grew into her powers and found her inner-strength as the story progressed. The sparks between the two were enough to start a bonfire, and it was easy to feel just how deep the emotions ran between these two.
He hadn’t meant to choose between them, but it seemed the inevitable had happened. He’d partly hoped that having her one last time would help clear her mind. How wrong he’d been. The image of her alight with fire would forever be burned into his mind; there would be no ridding himself of it. He’d always believed magic to be a sin, but how could anything so beautiful be evil? If he could see it, perhaps his brothers could as well.

This book was a great read and had me turning the pages all the way through. Filled with action and steam and a bit of mystery, it was easy to get caught up in the characters and ride right along with the story. I also love it when a book can surprise me with a twist or turn, and this story also did that. I hope there are more books to come that will feature the Bennett brothers, I can definitely see a great story for each of them!

I received a copy of this as a gift from the author for an honest review.

Mrs. Knight hooks you with the first words, painting a picture into Ryker’s life as a supernatural hunter. Pulling me in I didn’t want to put this short down! Ryker was loveable and whenever he thought of his love, you can’t help but swoon! One of my favorite things when reading a male point of view (we get both character views) is reading their feels towards the opposite sex, is seeing them become smitten, and their hearts pounding faster than normal when the one that’s capture their heart walks into the scene. Which is why I adored him, including the little battle he had warring within him and within his family.

This review is going to be short and sweet, which is exactly what this book was! Though yes, I felt some parts were a little cliché but when it comes to romance that’s exactly why we romance lovers keep coming back for more is because we love those clichés that bring the butterflies to our stomachs.

Overall, I enjoyed both the characters sides! The intense fear from Jenna was heart wrenching and the love Ryker had towards her even after he found out that she was something he hunted to kill was amazing! Mrs. Knight melded them perfectly and you couldn’t help but root for them! This little short was the perfect thing for me with its action, gripping storyline, and quite the steamy scene….it’s quite the perfect little short for Valentine’s Day, if I don't say so myself. ;)

Can't wait to see what else the author has in store for us fans!

Ryker Bennett has dedicated his entire life to hunting down - and eliminating - creatures of darkness. He and his brothers had learned early - from the deaths of their parents - that the only people they could truly count on and trust implicitly were each other. His occupation was certainly grueling - and dangerous - but never once did he question the righteousness of his duty.

But Ryker's latest assignment has him questioning everything he's ever believed in. Jenna Sinclair may be a witch, but she's also the only woman Ryker has ever loved. The 'one who got away' - who'd left him with a broken heart in the process.

Jenna believed that leaving Ryker two years ago was perhaps the hardest thing she'd ever done in her life. But it was for the best. Her decision to leave would save Ryker from having to choose between their forbidden love and his sworn duty.

However, when he eventually tracks her down, it's clear the desire between them burns as hot as ever - and that they'll have to walk through the flames to be together...

I must say that I generally love reading books from Harlequin. Usually I choose to read Harlequin Historical, Harlequin Intrigue, and some Harlequin Romance Suspense, as well. I guess I may have to add Harlequin Nocturne to my growing list.

I love reading paranormal romance, and although I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ryker and Jenna's story - it left me wondering when or if the rest of Ryker's brothers might get their own stories. I give A Hunter's Passion by Gwen Knight an A! and will definitely keep my eyes open for more from this author in the future.

I've gotten to be a pretty picky reader. If a book can't capture me in the first page, I'm not interested in reading more. Maybe it's that I have less time now than when I was younger, but as much as I love reading, if I can't get into the story right away, I put it down and usually don't pick it back up.

Gwen Knight delivers. Her opening sucked me right in, made me want to keep reading and find out more. Ryker Bennett is a hunter of paranormal creatures, the names delivered to him by the church, and it's a job that doesn't always go like clockwork. But then Ryker receives his next name, and it's enough to break your heart.

Enter Jenna, Ryker's next target - the woman he once loved more than life.

I don't want to give too much more away - there are plenty of other reviewers here who have done a great job of outlining the basic plot. The story is fantastically written, has great pacing, and is a real page turner. Gwen Knight has a gift for characterization, giving us characters we can cheer for and can't help biting our nails over - and swooning over - as they make their way through the mazes she sets for them. Sweet and spicy in all the right places. There's a reason we read romance, and Knight nails it.

Knight's debut novella, "Her Alpha Protector", made her one to watch. "A Hunter's Passion" has proved that this is one author who's going places! I hope we hear more about the Bennetts and their world. Love me a good series!

I was gifted this book by the author.
We are first introduced to Ryker, hunter of all things preternatural. Ryker is still reeling from the loss of the love of his life two years ago, when she walked out of his life without giving any reason for departure. He has thrown himself even farther into his work of ridding the world of evil. There is no grey area, you are preternatural you have to die.

Jenna left Ryker to protect him. She has learned things about her past that will only serve to break his heart. Jenna has even gone so far as to change her name to stay hidden from him.

The world comes crumbling down when Ryker gets his next assignment, can he follow through?

This is a great short story by Gwen. The story flows fast, the characters well developed, and I was not left hanging like I am with most shorts. I was impressed that Gwen was able to pack all of what she did into 63 pages. There are amazing scenes that made me desire more. I hope that Gwen branches out to write more on Ryker's family so that we can get to know the supporting cast. I am excited to see what is next for this group of hunters. I give this five fangs.
