Faxes have started rolling into Alabama's Signing Day headquarters, and AL.com's beat writers are publishing profiles of each signee as Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban announces the next prize in Alabama's 2014 signing class.
School
: St. Paul's Episcopal
Position
: Offensive lineman
Height, Weight
: 6-foot-1, 297 pounds
247Sports composite ranking
: Four-star recruit who is considered to be the No. 2 center prospect in the country behind fellow Alabama commitment
JC Hassenauer
. He's 280th among all 2014 prospects and 10th among players from the state of Alabama.
Other schools
: Auburn, LSU, Florida, Florida State
How he fits into Alabama's plans
: Though he's the smallest member of Alabama's top-ranked offensive line class, Casher shouldn't be overlooked. The former Auburn commitment was a big acquisition for an Alabama team that is stockpiling its offensive line in a big way. Though he was ranked among centers by most recruiting websites, Casher has the ability to play guard. He showed off his skills at the position at both the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game and Under Armour All-American Game. With Hassenauer and Casher, Alabama has plenty of depth at one of the most important positions on the field behind
Ryan Kelly
and
Chad Lindsay
.
Projection for 2014
: Only a select few offensive linemen see the field as true freshmen at Alabama, so cracking into that rotation could be a tall task for Casher. Alabama has a decent amount of bodies capable of playing at its interior offensive line spots, so a redshirt season would be the safest projection.
