How he fits into Alabama's plans
: Just two years ago on this day, Flournoy-Smith signed with Georgia. After seeing the field in eight games as a true freshman, Flournoy-Smith was booted from the team following multiple, off-field incidents, including an arrest for filing a false police report. A window was left open for Flournoy-Smith to return to Georgia after a year at Georgia Military College, but that never materialized. The Crimson Tide had Flournoy-Smith on its radar for a while, but it didn't pull the trigger on an offer until Monday. With two years of football beyond high school under his belt, Flournoy-Smith brings experience to a group of Alabama tight ends that has a wide variety of sizes and skill sets.

: The only tight end in Alabama's class of 2014, Flournoy-Smith enters a position group that didn't lose a single body from last year's team. Sophomore

has the potential to be special and
Brian Vogler
logged a number of starts. The Crimson Tide could use a second, pass-catching threat at tight end to complement Howard. Vogler can certainly make plays, but he was far more valuable as a blocker in 2013. If Flournoy-Smith proves capable in that sort of role, he could join the rotation.
