Billy Corgan’s interests are varied and many: He’s a tea aficionado, leader of the Smashing Pumpkins, a prolific conspiracy theorist, author of an upcoming memoir, solo artist with a new record on the way, a documentarian who wants an invite to your house, and a found photography blogger. He’s also worked for TNA Wrestling since April 2015. His previous title was “Senior Producer, Creative and Talent Development,” and in the past year, he appeared multiple times on TNA’s weekly show “Impact Wrestling.”
Yesterday, Corgan was named the new president of Impact Ventures—TNA’s parent company. According to a press release, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman will now oversee “day-to-day operations for IMPACT and its affiliated brands.” Corgan shared this statement about his promotion:
In addition to providing theme music, Corgan has appeared as a character on TNA television many times. He told a Scottish wrestler that he couldn’t understand his accent, set up a wrestling tournament after much “soul searching,” suspended hardcore wrestling legend Al Snow and demanded that he make a public apology, and warned wrestler Maria Kanellis to stop her “scheming and dreaming.” Recently, after walking out in aviator sunglasses and a suit, he angrily asked a bunch of wrestlers, “Did I just hear one of our best and brightest stars impugn my integrity?”
