WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
When Andy Eggerth, the Director of Track and Field, accepted the job to take over a team that had already been very successful, his goal was to keep raising the bar and push the team to new heights. With his team claiming its third indoor title in a row, him and his staff have done just that.

"I want to thank Coach Whitlock, Vaughn, and President Papp for their leadership of the University and athletic department," Eggerth said. "They've provided us with the necessary resources to be successful so I'm just pleased that we're able to serve our University well."

Kennesaw State earned its third-straight Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship as the Owls racked up 211 points behind eight event wins and 19 top-three performances. This is the fifth indoor championship the team has won, which is the most all-time in the conference.

"ETSU competed very well and were in the lead after day 1, but we ran well in the prelims and put ourselves in position to be successful on day 2," Eggerth added. "Half way through day 2 we were in a deadlock with the Bucs, but our men dug deep and were able successfully defend our title."

Andre Dorsey led the way again as he earned the A-Sun Championship Most Valuable Performer honors for the second-straight year registering 38 points in the two-day meet. He set a new mark in the high jump at 2.23-meters, and added a win in the triple jump (15.17m) to finish the championship with 38 points.

Another championship record fell on Saturday when Natan Reuter ran 14:23.67 in the 5,000-meter run. He shattered the previous mark by nearly 18 seconds.

The second day started just like the first with the combined eventers competing in the heptathlon. After six of the seven events, Kaarel Mangusson and Joshua Mulder were tied with 4,149 points. In the 1,000 meter, Mangusson edged out Mulder to claim the hepathlon championship , but both finished first and second in the competition.

Simultaneously as the heptathlon 1,000m race was going on, the Owls were working on sweeping the podium in the men's weight throw. Martynas Sedys won the event with a personal record of 19.18m, and was the third best throw in A-Sun history. Robert Harvey and Enrique Gaitan took second and third place.

Zac Davis won the 400m with a time of 49.18, and broke the school record in the 200m with a time of 22.27. Reagan Beal finished right behind Davis in third in the 200m with a time of 22.41. Dorian Powell-Harris finished fifth in the 200m and broke his personal record with a time of 22.50.

Freshman Demetrius Dugans won the 60m-dash with a time of 6.84.

"I'm pleased with our performance, but not satisfied," Eggerth said. "There were points left on the table, so we can still perform better yet and continue to move up in the national rankings. This will serve as a good springboard into the Indoor NCAA Championships in 3 weeks."

The Owls will now turn their focus and start preparing for their outdoor season that starts on March 21 at the ASU Baldy Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.
