TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — For the second time in as many months, an Alabama football player was arrested.

Reserve running back Dee Hart was arrested Sunday, Tuscaloosa police confirmed to AL.com. The former 5-star prospect was charged with possession of marijuana and giving false information. Hart was released from jail after posting $1,300 bond.

Though he's still listed on the online roster, the university released a statement saying Hart hasn't been with the program since the Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma in January.

"Hopefully he will learn from this mistake and continue to work toward completing his degree, which he is on track to do by the summer," the UA statement read.

Hart came to Alabama in 2011 as one of the top running backs in the nation. A high school teammate of former Alabama safety HaHa Clinton-Dix, Hart swapped his Michigan commitment to join the Tide soon before enrolling in January 2011.

Clinton-Dix, who left the team for the NFL draft in January, posted the following tweet late Monday morning.

He suffered the first of two torn ACLs before his freshman season and has yet to crack the starting rotation. Hart made nine special teams tackles and carried the ball 22 times for 78 yards as a sophomore last season.

With a depth chart stacked with top young talent, Hart didn't figure to be a big part of Alabama's offense in 2014.

Freshman defensive back Tony Brown was arrested Jan. 19 for failure to obey and resisting arrest outside an off-campus party.
