A Dalgety Bay glazing firm has committed to growing its own talent through offering Modern Apprenticeships to people in the local community.
Glazing firm AVtek Solutions has apprentices in different parts of the business including fabrication and business admin, with their approach now leading to a nomination for Scotland's Apprenticeship Awards.

Shortlist announced for Scottish Apprenticeship Awards

Employers and apprentices from around the country have made the shortlist for this year's Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.
Hopefuls will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Scotland's Current Apprentice of the Year, Laura Burdin, who works for Hilton Hotels in Dundee.

Hotel chain named winner of youth employer award

Apex Hotels has been named Skills Development Scotland’s Youth Employer of the Month.
The company, with hotels in cities around the country including Dundee, was recognised for its positive approach to attracting young people into the hospitality industry and ensuring they have the right skills for their roles and for the business.

Angus school triumphs in wave energy competition
|
|
Pupils at an Angus school who built their own renewable energy device are celebrating after winning a nationwide competition.
Monifeith High School won the Junior Saltire Award after inventing floating Wave Energy Converter, using wave power to create electricity.
The competition aims to teach pupils about careers in the renewables sector.

First Foundation Apprentices graduate in Fife
|
|
School pupils in Fife have beocme amongst the first in Scotland to complete Foundation Apprenticeships.
The qualification links schools with colleges and employers and offers young people the chance to complete elements of an apprenticeship while still at school, offering an ideal career start.

Angus school wins funding through Digital Xtra initiative
|
|
A project by Forfar Academy hosting after-school computing clubs with local primary schools has won backing from a new nationwide fund.
Digital Xtra aims to increase provision of extra-curricular computing activities across the country as part of the response to tackle Scotland's digital skills gap.
