How To Add An Instagram Widget To Your Blog - Updated

Add Instagram Widget To Your Blogger Blog

Even if you don't have an iPhone or Android you still wish you could use Instagram, right? Hopefully one day that time will come... If you're a lucky Instagrammer and you want to show off your awesome daily pics on your blog - you can do it! It's simple to install...it's just an HTML widget in your sidebar!

Thanks to SnapWidget.com you can show off Instagram anytime!  Plus, it's freakin' FREE!!!! Woot! Of course, there is a Pro version, but try this first. Click on SnapWidget to get started.

For this tutorial I borrowed the Username of The Nautical Wife...since we don't have our own Instagram account yet. So if you want to feature a few photos of a close friend or someone you're stalking you can add their account too!

After clicking "Get Your Free Widget" from SnapWidget fill in the above info. Changing the Layout here will change how many rows and columns of photos that show.

This is a sample of the code box you'll get (do not use code shown, it is a sample!)...copy and paste into an HTML widget on your blog's layout as shown in the photo below:

The actual widget is show below (you don't have to fill in title...unless it demands it, you can add </p> to make a place holder), type Instagram in the title space if you like.
Paste the code from Snap Widget there and click save.
Don't forget to click Save Arrangement in your Layout when you are happy with the placement of your widget, which you can drag and drop till your heart is content.

Your final product will look something like this...

Have fun sharing Instagram with your bloggy friends! Do you have another way to share your Instagrams? Let us know about it! Pick up some more Instagram Tips and Tricks at Her New Leaf too!

If you have any troubles adding to your Blogger blog try this:
Refresh Your Page
Update Your Browser
Make sure you pasted ALL the code
Make sure you clicked SAVE

  9. Fantastic instructions Sarah!

I also wanted to share with you and your readers 1 other tool you may find useful. It's called Tint, and we let you display any instagram feed into your website, Wordpress, Facebook Page, etc.

You can display your own Instagram feed, other brand's instagram feed, and even instagram hashtags (great for campaigns) in a matter of minutes. Visitors can share your photos to their social networks and you can even show different themes with flexible columns.

Feel free to check it out for more information: http://www.tintup.com/blog/the-best-instagram-widget/

    Thanks,
    Tim

  13. Thank you for sharing this. I needed it desperately but it won't work for some reason. It's saying, "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed.
Error 500". What do I need to do? My email is tollercortne@gmail.com. Thanks again.

    1. Katie, I checked out your blog and you did a great job! The only thing I can see that is a bit different is yes, the image is somewhat "shadowed" until you scroll over it and then it brightens. My only suggestion would be to re-install it again and make sure you are choosing the options you want. Great blogging!

    2. Okay, there is a HOVER option...this may be what you used without knowing it. Make sure when you reinstall that it says NONE in the HOVER EFFECT box.

Such useful advice, thank you! I'm a little stuck on getting it on to my blog though - I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to HTML so wasn't sure whereabouts I put the info? When I do add it on, and click to 'Save Template', it comes up with "Error parsing XML, line 2100, column 112: The reference to entity "v" must end with the ';' delimiter". Would you have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    1. Hey Alexis...I'm not sure what you mean by bigger...you can go into the code you pasted into the HTML and change the WIDTH and HEIGHT by pixel...if you want it to fit your sidebar better...the less photos you choose in the widget, the larger the photos will be...if you get my meaning??? Let me know how it goes!

I've tried with two different gadget makers like this one & have done it multiple times just to be sure it wasn't user error, & it just leaves a big white space in my sidebar.
