IGN: No plans for Mass Effect Andromeda on Nintendo Switch

Please help me with my bad english
I doubt the Switch will be ignored by the big Western publishers as was the Wii U. The console has a great chance of becoming very successful and it sounds like Nintendo has designed the platform to be as accommodating as possible for developers.

Activision and Ubisoft are companies who always had a pretty good relationship with Nintendo since they all share a similar target audience (families and kids.) To me, those two companies fully supporting the Switch, which includes versions of their big productions seen on the PS4/Xbox One would hardly be a surprise. For example, COD is probably coming to the Switch since it was also on the Wii and Wii U. Overwatch is another title that could fit pretty well on the Switch. A nice surprise is a company like Bethesda supporting the platform. They've never published a premier title for any Nintendo console, so hearing that they're on board is great.

The only company that I don't except much from is EA because of previous disagreements with Nintendo. They'll probably throw a game or two out there like FIFA and Star Wars games since they overlap pretty well with Nintendo's typical audience. I don't except much more from them, so it's hardly a surprise to hear that Andromeda for the Switch isn't in the works rn.

Very deeply insensitive of you, and all such posts can fuck the fuck off. How about you stop dictating to Nintendo fans on what they should and shouldn't expect? Also, Why should they "just buy another system" for non-exclusives? That isn't an option for a great deal of people, and not everybody has that privilege, and if it's a cross-platform title, as Mass Effect: Andromeda is, then (perhaps) the publisher should be looking to get it out on every platform possible. Furthermore, "buying another system" means having some hundreds of $ less to spend on games... On THEIR games, and it would be "third parties" losing out in the console space, because exclusives are the primary reason for their existence in the first place. You know what else!? It's telling that you, and others who thread-turd with such posts aren't equally robust in the numerous stealth "Nintendo Becoming A Third Party" fanfics-for-threads - "If you want to play Nintendo games, buy their platforms, because exclusives are the reason to buy any console, ever... FFS". Well, that's too reasonable a line of thought, as the Bayonetta 2 Reveal illustrated so exquisitely, so, of course, that wouldn't happen. **Takes Pitcher; Sips Cocktail...**

As for the comments on hardware - Nope. Stop this. Switch is already host to LOZ: Breath Of The Wild. A Wii U game whose universe is bigger than that of The Witcher 3. It's bigger than several open-world titles combined. Many times the size of Skyrim, and by default, the Remastered Edition. Also, scalability is a thing, while it has a very modern feature set, and given that a lot of UE4-based titles are on the way, the suggestion that Switch could run this one, too, is a more-than-reasonable deduction. That is to say that if it doesn't get a game which is on X4 consoles, it will have nothing to do with the specs, and everything to do with the publisher's call. Still, there is an event in a few days, and pretty much every partner had copy-and-paste responses with regard to Switch plans. There are reports that EA have "a big title" planned, so, what could it be, if it isn't this? If it isn't this one, it could be something else. They might port a complete edition later, an alternative solution which could work for all parties.

For once, NeoGAF... For once, "Gamers", it would be nice, if you didn't fall hook, line and sinker for obvious clickbait. It's been pointed out that this title isn't coming to Project Scorpio, too - Like the Switch, it's hardware that isn't out yet, and it's unfortunate that owners of both those systems won't be able to play it on their console of choice. Why, then, is it only a headline for the Switch, when a)This has been known for quite a while, b)No Project Scorpio release was a glaring point to take from the tweets in question (Will the same people tell prospective Project Scorpio buyers to "buy another system", too? One wonders...), and c)Project Scorpio's non-mention shows that it isn't to do with hardware specs!? Once more, Stop this.

I mean, the reason the bolded points don't apply is obvious isn't it? And it has nothing to do with a campaign to undermine the Switch.

We've heard the opposite for a while now, that the Switch can handle PS4/Xbox One games. But hey, who's knows right? 9 days.
Yes 9 days we will see !😄
Dont care about Andromeda personally to me the Switch is about what it will have instead of what wont. And it could have quite a few awesome things

And this image, makes my inner fanboy mark out and hope and pray that the Switch takes the fuck off and slaughter and decapitate the entire gaming industry and make certain publishers and developers look the chumps and expose them as the frauds that they truly are like the Wii and DS did. Go on Switch! Go on Switch! Go on Switch! Slay them all!

But many people want a this device to be more than a Nintendo exclusive console/handheld.

It will have support from the Japanese players currently publishing on 3DS and Vita, so Atlus/Sega, Capcom, Level 5, SE and so on. It will have decent support from Indies since Unity/UE4 are on it. It will have Ubisoft on board with the usual stuff and token support only from other Western publishers. If Nintendo plays the cards right it should be able to retain most current Wii-U and 3DS users (will need different form factors in the Switch family and some price drops down the road) and sell a boatload of software.

If you expect anything else then stop drinking the kool-aid , step away from the keyboard and attempt to actually think critically on this. Maybe if the Switch is a runaway success you will see that magical Western 3rd party support and even then, how did that look on the Wii? Othewise don't count on it. Shit, half the publishers struggle to hit 1080P on the Xbone, and you think they are going to port AAA games to the Switch with it's likely to be hugely underpowered handheld mode?

That's part of the problem, Nintendo does nothing to foster an audience to buy many kinds of 3rd party titles. I agree that even with a more powerful machine, 3rd party support isn't guaranteed but I don't blame publishers as much as I blame Nintendo for their shitty or dismissive behavior towards 3rd party publishers in the past.

It's become a badge of honor among Nintendo fans.

I feel like people expecting anything like andromeda to be coming to the switch are going to end up disappointed most of the time. Andromeda is probably going to be using literally everything the xb1 and PS4 throws at it, and they are significantly more powerful than the switch.

It's like people don't remember Inquisition's last gen versions. That is probably a best case scenario for a switch port, and at that point, why bother?

Nice post - but do we have receipts on Breath of the Wild being bigger than Witcher 3?

And EA supporting Switch - LOL we'll see. I think Ubisoft and Activision will give it an honest try but EA, Rockstar, and Take 2 .... I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well, Take 2 will likely have a version of NBA 2K something out (was in the Switch video) and EA will probably have FIFA. Bethesda will have a Skyrim port.

I expect to hear these statements quite often even if the Switch is respectably powerful. I doubt the game companies have a vendetta against Nintendo, but they want to make money for their work and know the demand for third party games is much smaller compared to Sony and Microsoft systems. It's a proven fact that most Nintendo owners have no interest the majority of third party games. Most third party game do not sell on Nintendo systems and Nintendo fans even act like they are proud not to support anything that isn't internally developed by Nintendo themselves or the occasional third party exclusive. I've even heard Nintendo owners snobbishly say that they only buy a Nintendo games. That is not good for publishers/companies and will inevitably keep most Nintendo systems back from being nothing more than a secondary system to most people.

Your "inner" fanboy has been out for some time. ;)

It's a video game console. A toy. That's all it is. Why get so worked up about other peoples' opinions on it?

You think these threads are rough? Buy a Vita and read any Vita thread. :)

That said, I'm ready for the system to be fully unveiled, as I think the Switch threads will get a bit more positive for awhile!

There's a far bit of this, although I think the majority of Nintendo(home console) owners simply tend to own more than one device these days. After 20+ years of poor third party support, largely due to Nintendo's constant errors and poor judgement, no one buys a Nintendo platform for 3rd party games. Outside of the odd exclusive, as you mentioned.

I will say that 3rd party support, both from a developer and consumer standpoint, is quite a bit better on the handheld side though. It will be interesting to see how that aspect plays out with this device.

The rumoured Switch specs give it a better CPU then both the PS4 and Xbox one. It might have to run some ports on low settings and at 480p or less. But the rumoured specs indicate it should be able to run most 3rd party games

You are lashing out against people noting the blatant demographic and market realities of Nintendo and third party games for 10+ years. Don't go to a pasta place and get pissed that you aren't getting served a burger, while staring angrily at the burger joint across the street.

The point was about Nintendo gamers not buying third party games. Try again.

The problem is that there isn't much of an audience for western third party games on Nintendo platforms, or at least an audience that doesn't already have other systems that satisfy their needs.

Good point.

The western 3rd-party support situation for the Switch can be looked at from another angle: it's poised to become the ONLY console in Japan that has the prospect of a healthy future as a platform for console games. It happens that some western 3rd party games are actually selling decently in Japan. Minecraft, COD, GTAV among others have done relatively well in Japan. If Nintendo successfully position the Switch as the console where to find and play these games for the Japanese market, it might give a excellent reason for those publishers to port these games for the system.

But alas...

Its going to happen with the skyrim port neither having mods or most of the remaster upgrades, ignoring all more dire situations.
According to Laura, there will be PS4-level mod support (existing assets, only) for the Switch version, but not on Day 1.

Unfortunately I expect a lot of threads similar to this in the next few months.

Hundreds

That may be true but it is still tiring to see threads filled with shitposting that has a gleeful/gloating edge to it.

If people are gleeful it's because Nintendo have fucked gamers (And developers/publishers too) over for years and and it's nice to see them get their cummupence. This is why, although I was pissed off Wii U was so shit, I was happy Nintendo really, really suffered during that time. That said, they still aren't doing what I want so I don't know if they'll ever learn.
