The Information Lab newsletter - #2 January 2014
The Tableau partner summit

We now support Mapbox mapping services directly in Tableau

It has been a busy start to 2014 for the Information Lab. This is our second newsletter in January, we have so much news to share. Firstly we are very excited to announce that we are now supporting Mapbox services directly inside Tableau. For three years we have been helping people with mapping, including launching our polygon data resource - tableaumapping.bi.

We are now building on this success by delivering highly customisable maps to any Tableau dashboard. Tom Brown, Director at The Information Lab, is looking forward to pushing Tableau even harder in the future:

“Combining Mapbox and Tableau brings a whole new level of mapping capability to our customers. We are very excited to combine Tableau’s powerful geocoding and interactive capabilities with beautiful and customisable maps.”

Our first Alteryx training session

We completed our first Alteryx training session on the 17th of Jan. Twenty five people attended and all left armed with a little more knowledge on the power of combining Alteryx and Tableau. We are holding an Alteryx introduction for Tableau users on the 14th of Feb, you can find out more on that on our blog.

look back at our work in 2013

Last year already seems like a long time ago, but it was such a productive period for us we wanted to highlight our achievements. So we have produced a stunning infographic showing exactly what we got upto. You can find it on our Facebook page.

We are leading Tableau bloggers

Tableau recently released a list of their favourite Tableau related blog posts, and we featured twice - our own Tom Brown authored both posts. The first covered blue and green in the Tableau interface, whilst the second looked at things it would have been great to know before starting out with Tableau.
