Hypersonic Vitreous Liquefaction

Dr. Amar Agarwal demonstrates the first use of the Vitesse hypersonic vitrectomy probe (Bausch + Lomb) in a human eye. Cleared by the FDA in April 2017, the device uses a single lumen design with a fixed open-port system and is used exclusively with the Stellaris Elite system. Dr. Agarwal finds the Vitesse, which operates at a much lower energy than guillotine-based systems, removes vitreous efficiently with less traction and turbulence.
