Karlie Kloss quietly married Joshua Kushner in upstate New York, in the woods

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex visit Bondi Beach

Well, this is a surprise! Karlie Kloss announced her engagement to Joshua Kushner back in July. She didn’t spill a lot of details about wedding planning, nor was there much buzz about when the wedding would go down, or where. We did hear that Karlie converted to Judaism to marry Joshua, but she really didn’t want to talk about it. As it turns out, they didn’t even do a traditional Jewish wedding in a synagogue – Karlie and Joshua just went out to the woods in upstate New York and got married ON A THURSDAY. What is happened??

Three months after announcing their engagement, Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner have officially tied the knot! A rep for the supermodel, 26, confirms to PEOPLE the couple wed on Thursday evening. Kloss and Kushner held a small, Jewish ceremony in upstate New York, with under 80 people in attendance. They will also host a larger celebration for friends and loved ones in the spring. The Project Runway host wore a custom Dior gown for the ceremony.

“The wedding was intimate and moving. The couple was beaming with happiness,” a friend who attended the ceremony tells PEOPLE.

[From People]

Is anyone else wondering if she’s pregnant? I know, that’s so old-fashioned of me, but wouldn’t that explain the suddenness of the wedding, the fact that they did it on a weekday, and the fact that not many people were there? LOL, did Ivanka and Jared Kushner even come? Jared didn’t, I’m almost positive – he’s been in Washington all week trying to downplay the Saudi assassination of Jamal Khashoggi.

I will say this… her Dior gown is beautiful. And she looked amazing and classic-bridal. Oh and p.s. Taylor Swift wasn’t there.

Always like when celebs get marrid off the radar. I love her dress, she was a stunning bride, which was to expect to be fair. Lovely dress.

  2. Queenb says:

You gotta marry a Kushner quickly, you never know when they will go to jail.

Also are her initials now KKK?

    • Betsy says:

      Yikes. That’s a horrible monogram.

      • Jan90067 says:

Considering the extended family, could be very appropriate.
As far as his brother and Daughter-Wife being there, you KNOW that she’d release “candid” (ha!) snaps of her/the kids to “normalize” them during this latest horror. Or perhaps they were asked *not* to come as KK and Joshua didn’t want the bad press associated with them?

As for TS, I heard (on the local news entertainment spot) she’s on the way to Australia for some stadium shows.

    • adastraperaspera says:

She could have married well. Why did she choose an organized crime family? Perplexing.

      • dans le metro says:

Perhaps for her this is marrying well? She’s friends with both Wendi Deng, Ivanka and Dasha Zhukova too. They’re not nice people. Perhaps shes not nice either. Beautiful but not nice.

      • whatWHAT? says:

Huh, didn’t know this. perhaps this is why she and TayTay are on the outs? not that Swift is the nicest person but maybe they differed too much politically.

      • adastraperaspera says:

@dans le metro – with Deng and Zhukova as friends, a person would not need enemies. Scary associations, not even one degree away from the oligarchs.

      • BB says:

And he is the “good” Kushner! What a family.

      • Catarina says:

Because a person’s FAMILY is not (always) who THEY are. My husband comes from a very brutal, violent background—-yet he’s the gentlest, kindest person I have ever known. Maybe she loves him enough to love him for HIM—to see past how unfortunate his family is, and how, ultimately, disconnected from them he is. I’m not saying this a fact, but it’s a very strong possibility. The truth is, none of us here knows why she married him, but to outright decide she’s just a terrible person because she married the brother/son of someone corrupt, is a little simplistic. He might be a perfectly nice person; he cannot help the family he was born into. No one can.

    • whatWHAT? says:

hahahahaha…kind of what I was thinking…along the lines of “is he a slumlord tax evader, too?”

    • Ohplease says:

Yup #spousalprivilege sooo i guess Karlie’s cancelled? LOL

    • Pandy says:

OMG they are KKK – oh ha ha, good Katch!

    • noway says:

You can’t help who you are related to, and Joshua actually seems like a pretty good guy who unlike the rest of his family didn’t follow in their messed up footsteps in real estate. He’s a Democrat who was at the March for our lives, and supports many liberal causes, and he was very early in saying he wasn’t voting for Trump. He’s a venture capitalist where one of his largest investments is an Obama Care health tech company. He also looks like he didn’t take much money from his family. Unlike Trump who took 451 million from Dad and probably has less now, Joshua Kushner seems to have only a small portion of his family invested in his company. I’m sure his family connections may have helped, but they could have hurt too considering his father was arrested- so who knows. Yet Joshua does still have a close relationship with Jared. Who knows maybe Jared is personable. I mean it’s not like we hear him talk that much.

Also, the KKK thing is funny in a bad way, but maybe she won’t take his name and stay sort of Kardashian with just the KK. Below is an article on him.

    • K says:

Joshua Kushner is really different from the rest of the family. He’s progressive and seems like a good enough guy from what I’ve read

  3. Jay says:

She does look fantastic. Great pics, great vibe.

  4. Betsy says:

That is a stunning dress, and I like Karlie Kloss, but marrying into that family with all its ties…is there any way in which they aren’t problematic?

    • Esmom says:

No, I don’t think so. So many other fish in the sea and she chooses a very problematic one. Ugh.

      • Erinn says:

How close is this brother to the rest of the family? Is it more of a case of “well, they’re my family, and at that base level I love them, but they’re terrible” or is he actively encouraging the terrible? Because I have some incredibly sketchy, asshole inlaws. But it didn’t stop me from marrying my husband.

      • adastraperaspera says:

He’s very close to his family. He considers Jared his best friend and calls Ivanka his sister. You can reference puff pieces like those in Town & Country, or financial takes in Forbes.

      • noway says:

He’s close to them, but for whatever reason he has stayed on the liberal Democratic side. Yes Ivanka and Jared were that way once too, but Ivanka and Jared chose to go follow Daddy Cheeto Trump. Joshua and Karlie are still both pretty liberal in what they do and the way they invest time, money and deeds. Her with girl coding and him with his tech and liberal healthcare software investments, plus their support for many movements: Metoo, March for our Lives, etc. Until he falls into the dark side, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, and understand it’s family and sometimes we bite out lip or express our opinion but still love them. On the plus side he’s probably already used to visiting the white collar prison with his Dad LOL!!

      • Sarah Joan says:

Erinn – afraid not. This one is only slightly less dodgy than Jared.

  5. Kittycat says:

Its interesting that they would get married so quickly.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

      Spousal privilege, perhaps?

    • Lady D says:

They have been dating for almost 7 years. Perhaps it wasn’t rushed.

      • LR says:

Yes, they’ve been together for eternity… (in trump years)

Also, a Thursday wedding for an Orthodox Jewish family is typical, they never marry on the Sabbath weekend. I attended a mid week wedding once.
-Joshie is no innocent boy, he’s super close to his jailbird DAD & criminally minded family.

      • Gina says:

Responding to LR, how could they have an Orthodox wedding if she hasn’t converted (Orthodox). Trying to imagine what Rabbi would marry them, (But then I’m from a much more traditionally (Hasidic) family, and in our community, it couldn’t happen) maybe things are a bit more modern?

      • dietcokehead says:

        She converted earlier this year.

  6. Betsy says:

Also – she got to carry lilies of the valley in October? Damn. Now I wish I had stupid money like that. Can you imagine flying in lilies of the valley? I’m aware that flowers travel an insane amount and local is better, but something about these flowers seems so seasonal and rare.

    • Livvers says:

Most flowers do fly an insane distance, and I can see from the Australian and NZ gardeners I follow on IG that lilies of the valley are probably in season there right now. However, if we are feeling magnanimous, we could tell ourselves that maybe the flowers were forced out of season in a local greenhouse.

      • Betsy says:

This is blowing my mind. I didn’t know that lilies of the valley were one of the ones that could be forced.

      • Livvers says:

Pretty sure they can be, I think White Flower Farm sells them for forcing. They aren’t true bulbs but because they form pips for new growth, I think they just need a period of dormancy.

      • tealily says:

        Here for the gardening gossip.

  7. Enough Already says:

Ah, nature. The only place the feds can’t wiretap.

  8. Astrobiologiste says:

My brother got married on a Monday, so I can’t say anything about people getting married on Thursdays…

    • Mika says:

It’s really common for Orthodox Jews to get married on Thursdays and Sundays, as Sabbas kind of fucks with Friday night – Saturday night.

  9. Bitchyarchitect says:

The gown and even the bouquet are pretty much an exact repeat of Kate Middleton.
Totally basic IMO. I find her about as interesting as a box of hair.

  10. Chrissy says:

Gorgeous gown and setting and both look insanely happy. Congratulations and good luck.

  11. Maya says:

Dress is stunning and the reason Taylor wasn’t there was probably because Taylor supports Democrats now.

    • Say Whaa? says:

I know it kills the gossip vibe, but perhaps it’s because she’s on tour in Australia at the moment.

    • Honeybadger says:

The Kushners are for the most part a family of Democrats and most are puzzled by Jared. She married a liberal Democrat.

    • dietcokehead says:

Karlie has spoken of her and her husband’s shared liberal values, and he comes from a Democrat family. Your reasoning is not sound.

    • bma says:

Joshua Kushner is, to the best of my knowledge, extremely liberal. I think Jared is an outlier in that family honestly (and I think Jared belongs to the party of corrupt power and dirty money, not liberalism or conservatism).

    • Lindz says:

Isn’t Taylor also in Australia for her tour?

  12. Marlene says:

80 people is not what I’d call a small wedding.

    (I don’t mind 80 people-sized weddings, but that’s ‘medium’ on my scale).

    • HelloSunshine says:

Was thinking the same. Our original plan for our wedding had 75 and we thought that was a lot. We ended up getting married a few months earlier than our set date with 7 people attending. I guess I’d consider anything under 20-30 small?

    • CanadianGirl says:

We had 120 and it was medium by my standards and tiny by my husband’s standards. He was used to weddings of 300-500 people.

      • HelloSunshine says:

300-500?! Holy smokes! Yeah I think 120 is the average of weddings I’ve been to. We’re going to one soon that’ll have at least 300 and I’m trying to prepare myself for it lol

      • Zip says:

We will have 8 guests. EIGHT! That’s what I call intimate. Holy sh–, 120 people as an average… Who do these people invite and how much money to they blow on that day?!

      • Tigerlily says:

CanadianGirl: are you from the west? My husband is from a rural farming area with a lot of descendents of Ukrainian farmers. HUGE weddings so 80 people would be tiny here. Old style Ukrainian/Canadian weddings are amazing….

    • The Other Katherine says:

I had 80+ people at my wedding, and I felt like that was BIG. But I’ve been to some of these 200+ person weddings, so I know it’s a thing. Can’t imagine doing it myself, but then I wasn’t hiring a bevy of wedding planners to run everything. Given their social position, I have to imagine they just didn’t want the Trump wing of the family showing up.

      • Mstak says:

        @tiger lily

Yes Ukrainian weddings are something else. Mine was 350 people and that was considered on the smaller side. They go all out and everyone and their mom is invited 😂

  13. Jane says:

All the ‘Kaylor’ shippers melting down over this and trying to convince each other that Karlie marrying a Kushner is all part of her and Taylor’s master plan for revealing their relationship provided some much needed light entertainment today.

    • RedTop says:

Of course there are the stans that think that (there are also stans who think Harry Styles and Taylor are still together secretly), but I think for the most part, kaylors thought they have split years ago. I certainly wouldn’t call myself a kaylor but I do believe at one point they had something more than friends going on. There is such a thing called bisexuality.

      • Jane says:

Just search the Kaylor tag on Tumblr. There’s still plenty of shippers who believe they’re together and this is all part of some grand plan. Everything from essays about how this was all foretold through Taylor’s use of emojis to claims it can’t be a real marriage because Kushner is already married to a man.

And I’m aware bisexual people exist thanks. I’m one of them.

  14. xdanix says:

Am I mean to think that they did it quietly this way because… she had to know a lot of her famous friends wouldn’t want to attend with the whole Kushner thing? Even if Ivanka and Jared weren’t there (any confirmation on that?) and even if Karlie is well liked in her industry, I can imagine a lot of people who absolutely would have attended if she’d married someone else would have steered well clear of this.

  15. RBC says:

Maybe there are louder rumblings about the Robert Mueller investigation getting ready to drop some damaging information on Jared Kushner? I could see Joshua and Karlie wanting to get married quietly and in peace before a media firestorm hits. Mueller has been very quiet lately…..

    • Veronica S. says:

Mueller knows a lot of his next steps are hinged on the outcome of the midterms, that’s why. He’s not a fool. I’m sure he’s got backup plans out the wazoo.

      • Jan90067 says:

I follow Jill Wine-Banks, who was a prosecutor on Watergate, on Twitter. She has said that she is positive that like her team did, Mueller and his attorneys will have made back-up copies of EVERYTHING and have them with different people to assure that nothing is swept under the rug (and if need be,”leak” information to make sure it is not buried).

    • Betsy says:

      Mueller is always very quiet!

    • noway says:

Who knows exactly what Mueller has, but I wouldn’t be surprised based on some of the things that have come out if it is something big. Unlike Comey though he won’t let it out until the midterms. I think he honestly believes that is a bad to change the midterms over allegations which aren’t tried

  16. Chef Grace says:

Over the moon and through the woods to dystopiaville they go….

  17. dans le metro says:

It’s easier to bury the bodies when you’re in the woods.

  18. Lizzie says:

She looks beautiful and her dress is stunning. Great way to start her new mob wife lifestyle.

  19. Indiana Joanna says:

I can’t stand her. She married into an awful family even if JK is a Democrat. He and felon-in -waiting Jared posed in front of JFK’s portrait as though they are the heirs apparent to handsome political guys.

To add: Kushner senior has said only wealthy white men should be running the country. Yeah, mediocre wealthy white men who bought their way into Harvard but admit they were terrible students. Just like drump, they’ve used daddy’s money and made a mess of everything.

  20. minx says:

She looks gorgeous and I absolutely love her dress. That’s all I got.

  21. Veronica S. says:

Gorgeous bride with an unfortunate taste in men.

Always amused when weddings involving 50+ guests are called “intimate.”

  22. Eric says:

Don’t think she quite thought this through, but the Kushner name will be mud soon as Jared will be indicted within the next few months. Kushner will be synonymous with conspiracy, back-channeling with Russians, money laundering, tax evasion and accessory after the fact for Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.

    Fun times! Enjoy your honeymoon!

    • buckley says:

Seriously, how do these people sleep at night knowing they are adjacent to a man who orders people chopped up?

    • Justwastingtime says:

Since Jared “left to save the Middle East- feather his pockets.. his brother and sister are ruining the corrupt company.. get real. He is the same as the others..

  23. Desolee says:

Wonderful dress/ hair /bouquet/ setting. She looks lovely and he looks fine too. He has nice hair.
Would love to see pics of her with sisters if they were there

  24. MaryContrary says:

There were pics of both Jared and Ivanka (and then the kids) leaving their NYC apartment a few days ago-so I would bet money that they were there. Also, both she and Josh are huge Democratic supporters-she posted lots of pics that she was voting for HRC, and they were both at the Women’s March. Jared is a tool, but she didn’t marry him-she married his brother. She looked beautiful-that dress is very Grace Kelly.

  25. Eric says:

Karlie, flipping through a photo album in 7 years with daughter Katie and son Karl (because what could be better than KKK if not KKKK?):
    “Mommy who’s that man?”
“That’s daddy’s brother. He’s in jail for being a treasonweasel”
    “Mommy, who’s the pretty lady?”
“That’s aunt Ivanka. After being fantasized about by her own father, she went to prison”
    “Who’s her daddy?”
“He was an illegitimate president of the US. He died broke and alone in prison.”
“Mommy, who are the two ugly men with buttholes for mouths?”
“That’s uncles Beavis…er those are daddy’s brothers-in-law who are in prison for scamming the citizens of the United States.”
    “Mommy…why did you marry daddy?”
“Because Americans are fickle and forgetful and there’s lots of money to steal.”
    “Oh.”

  26. Case says:

She looks stunning — what a gorgeous dress! That was a mighty quick engagement, but they have been together for many years, I think, so it makes sense to not drag it out.

Her brother-in-law is an idiot who will hopefully go to prison, but I don’t see how that reflects on her and Joshua in any way. A lot of people have problematic family members that they don’t see eye-to-eye with.

    • horseandhound says:

I agree with you. it’s extremely unfair to call her complicit and to imply he has something to do with this or that crime just because his brother is some douche. people can’t choose their family. what if he’s a normal person who just happens to be born in the same family as that brother of his? doesn’t he deserve happiness and the love of a nice girl?

  27. Emma says:

It’s normal for Orthodox Jews to get married on weekdays – observant Jews won’t ride in cars, play music, cook food (or eat food cooked by someone else on the sabbath) on Friday night through Saturday night, so even if Karlie and Josh don’t care, his family/friends likely wouldn’t have attended a wedding on a normal day (and if they wanted kosher food it wouldn’t be available, etc.)

    • Chrissy says:

I’ve even been to a Jewish wedding on a Sunday. I think they were Reformed though. To each his own. It looks like they had a nice day for it.

  28. Marnie says:

I like Karlie, I always have, but I wish she didn’t marry into this family. I know people who have met say he’s a good dude and nothing like his father or his brother, but I still can’t with him.

    • Betsy says:

Your feelings echo mine precisely. I mean, Jared might be the black sheep, but I doubt it given their father’s crimes. I really like her – she’s a great model and seems to be kind – but this spousal choice… ick. He’s part of Trumpworld.

  29. Amelie says:

It’s a beautiful dress! But also speaks volumes Taylor wasn’t there. Yes she’s touring in Australia but I honestly don’t think Karlie would have wanted her there. It was her day and somehow Taylor always manages to make it about her. It will be interesting to see if Taylor is invited to the “bigger celebration” in the spring.

  30. Svea says:

As soon as I heard the marriage took place in the woods, my first thought was: I hope the Kushners were all bit by ticks with Lyme.

  31. Electric Tuba says:

    Good luck with that, idiot.

  32. Tirralirra says:

Lmao ok but there is a thing in Judaism about getting married on Thursday. No one does it because Thursday is stupidly inconvenient, but the Talmud does recommend Thursday for converts.

    • rabbitgirl says:

Thursday or not she did not have a kosher conversion so they can pretend all they want. He and his family are an embarrassment to Judaism and she is a clearly cosplaying at being Jewish. I never cared for her or actually cared enough to dislike her before.

If this is why Taylor dumped her, go Taylor. At least this should have been the public reason

      • whitecat says:

How do you know she didn’t? I thought she has been in the process before they announced their engagement.

    • MaryContrary says:

I have NEVER in my life heard that about a Thursday marriage. They’ve dated for many years-I’m sure she completed her conversion prior to their engagement.

  33. rabbitgirl says:

    1. She looks pretty for her. I actually never found her to be exceptional or stunning.
    2. I think a wedding in the woods is a wonderful way to celebrate.
    3. There is no way she had a kosher conversion after a mere three months. It takes at least a year and she has to become orthodox, which clearly she has not.
    4. Anyone who supports Trump is morally bankrupt. I have family who support Trump. I don’t call them “my best friend” and so liberal or not, he can’t have it both ways. Basic decency does not come in second to family ties. You can’t just ignore children in cages because you love your brother. So the hell with him and his new bride.

    • Emma says:

I thought she converted before they announced the engagement.

      • JadedBrit says:

Conversion isn’t something that happens overnight, though – it can take a year or two, you undergo instruction, you have to go before the Beth Din, etc.

  34. Lala11_7 says:

The Kushners are Democrats the way Tramp WAS a Democrat…its because the are in NYC and to get anything done…you have to align yourself with Democratic politicians who run the power political infrastructure…but that FAMILY is amoral and indecent…and ANYONE who is friends and does business with Russian /Chinese Dictators and receive large sums of funny money from Middle-Eastern Power Monster Brokers…

    Is disgusting…period.

    • MeghanNotMarkle says:

Exactly. Lots of people here are really trying to put lipstick on this pig while ignoring that the apple hasn’t fallen that far from the tree. Joshua is far from the clean, innocent son they’re trying to convince themselves he is.

    • Nic919 says:

      Thank you. Someone with sense.

    • Lizzie says:

Exactly. 100% You know else was a Democrat? Al Capone. And both families will likely go down the same way: Tax evasion and syphilis.

    • youbemom says:

      This, this, this.

  35. whitecat says:

To be completely fair, Jewish weddings, especially if they are orthodox ones (I know Jared is practicing Orthodox) don’t take place on Friday nor Saturday, because Shabbat starts when the sun sets on Friday and doesn’t finisht ill Saturday night. So hard to have a wedding and a reception and not break Shabbat.

  36. KLO says:

They both look super cute in the pictures. Congrats!

  37. KatMatz says:

    She’s pregnant.

  38. Lindy says:

Even if his political views lean left, at a certain point, if you’re hanging out with the likes of Wendy Deng and Javanka, you’re complicit. I know it’s difficult when it comes to family, but this isn’t even just garden variety, “my crazy uncle voted for Trump” family stuff. This is right at the diseased, toxic heart of things.

    • Bettyrose says:

Seriously. People can’t choose their blood relations, but they can choose the company they keep. In this case, that’s his family and in-laws.

  39. liriel says:

On a superficial note, she looks stunning. Classis, not overdressed.
    Does anyone agree?

  40. Sam H x says:

Josh isn’t as squeaky clean as he looks and manages to fly under the radar. Both keep questionable company. No doubt she will have protected her finances and assets prior to the marriage because things are going to go south w/ the mess her in laws are tangled in.
