Full disclosure: I'm an only child. However, that has no bearing on my ability to watch and love movies about sisters. In fact, I prefer them. There are sooooooooo many films that focus on brotherhood and what it means to be a man and all that nonsense—like, hello Hollywood, what about sisterhood?

Though Tinseltown no doubt has a Bechdel-test problem, there are a handful of movies—great movies, even—that are all about loving sisters and sibling rivalries, and everything in between. So whether you consider your "sisters" to be of the biological variety or you're more in the "chosen family" camp, you'll find a movie to watch on this list.

From '90s classics like The Parent Trap to scripts based on beloved books like Little Women and 10 Things I Hate About You (we have ol' Shakespeare to thank for that iconic movie), there are plenty of sister movies to go around. The tricky part is deciding whether you want to actually watch any of these with your sis, or if it's more of a ~distance makes the heart grow fonder~ type of thing.

Obviiiiously Annie James and Hallie Parker have to get primo real estate on this list. The Lindsay Lohan-led, Nancy Meyers-directed flick will always have a special place in the hearts of '90s kids—even if LiLo's career eventually took a weird, faux-accent-influenced turn. I'll still occasionally snack on an Oreo dipped in peanut butter, if I'm honest.

Little Women

OG Little Women fans, please forgive me, but I'm going to focus on the 2019 remake, mmkay? Greta Gerwig is one of the greatest directors of our time and her distinct style of re-telling the classic story of the four March sisters adds even more depth to the characters we already love—especially little Amy.

The Other Boleyn Girl

This is one of the more, well, tragic movies on this list. To all my fellow period-piece lovers, the 2008 historical romance drama about King Henry VIII's mistress, Mary Boleyn, and his mistress-turned-second wife, Anne Boleyn, certainly takes a lot of creative liberties. The one thing it gets dead-right, though: the fatal romance between Henry and Anne.

STREAM

Practical Magic

This '90s hit has a s-t-a-c-k-e-d cast: Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Dianne Weist, Evan Rachel Wood, and Stockard Channing! In an effort to prevent a curse from ending their romantic prospects forever, Sally and Gillian (played by Bullock and Kidman) are forced to finally embrace the family business: Witchcraft.

10 Things I Hate About You

There are way more than 10 reasons why you need to watch this movie, but here's a few. 1. It's a modern re-telling of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. 2. It's positively studded with stars, including Gabrielle Union, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Stiles, and the late Heath Ledger. 3. It will make you both laugh and tear up a bit. 4. Heath Ledger, again.

STREAM

Twitches

Sure, Tia and Tamera Mowry rose to fame on their sitcom, Sister, Sister, but that was just the beginning. On top of numerous TV show appearances, they also starred in the Halloween-themed Disney Channel Original Movies Twitches and Twitches Too. Because the only thing better than witches are twin witches.

Sisters

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—that's it. That's the description. Kiddinggggg! But come on...That's all you really need to know in order to understand that this movie is good. Poehler and Fey they play 40something-year-old siblings who throw a final party before their parents sell their childhood home. You know, like teenagers except...they're adults.

STREAM

The Virgin Suicides

Another tragic tale about sisters, this time based on Jeffrey Eugenides' debut novel. The dark and strangely funny tale is told from the perspective of a group of neighborhood boys who were obsessed with the Lisbon sisters. As you may surmise from the title, the five girls don't meet a very happy end.

STREAM

Pride & Prejudice

It seems that the more sisters a story has, the more complicated the plot becomes. This is definitely the case with the five Bennet sisters. Though many remember the love story between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy as the main thrust of the novel-turned-movie, the relationships between the sisters is also an important aspect of the film. The bond between Jane and Elizabeth is just as strong as their love for their suitors.

STREAM

Frozen

Okay, there are a lot of reasons why Frozen and Frozen 2 became instant Disney favorites—probs in part because of the a-maz-ing soundtrack. But I think sisters Anna and Elsa's dynamic also had something to do with the movies' staying power. Despite their differences, they'd still risk everything to save each other. That's what sisterhood is all about, right? No, seriously, I'm asking that honestly. I'm an only child.

STREAM

In Her Shoes

In Her Shoes is surprisingly poignant and deeper than the packaging might have you assume. Sisters Maggie and Rose (played by Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette) have essentially nothing in common, except for their love of shoes. When they end up living together in adulthood, it's inevitably a disaster, but what starts as a lighthearted comedy evolves into a touching story about family.

New York Minute

Guys, I had to include an Olsen twins movie. It's, like, basically law! This is one of Mary-Kate and Ashley's best movies ever. The hijinks, the hot men, and the hilarious moments (ahem, Eugene Levy) makes this a no-brainer for your next movie night.
