This place should change the name to "Simply Delicious!"

I love their food! The fried chicken, mac & cheese and homemade simply sauce is amazing! For the DC natives, drop that mumbo sauce and start using simply sauce! I was a little skeptical when my brother told me they did not have mumbo sauce, but after one taste, I bought a bottle!

The only reason I did not give them 5-stars is because I was unable to order food during my recent visit. They advertise that they close at 8pm during the week, when in actuality, they close at 7:45pm. This is due the face that they cook the food fresh so orders must be in my 8:00pm.

Other than that, I am a huge fan of Simply Delightful!

Stopped here today to get oxtails but of course they weren't "ready" so I ordered the turkey wings with high hopes. Sorely disappointed with the canned gravy and canned string beans. I tried to give the cashier the benefit of the doubt but when she all but laughed in my face for asking to sample the greens, all that I could think was, "no customer service training". As a fellow sister in the hospitality industry, one thing that you mist stand on is: the customer is in fact ALWAYS right.

That's ok. I had a friend with me and her bad attitude was noted by him also. 1 customer gone just that fast. I will be back for the surf n' turf salad and THAT'S IT.

Very friendly. Very clean. Very good food. I had the baked turkey legs, collard greens and Mac and Cheese.

It's a cool, casual eat in/take out spot.

The turkey legs were well seasoned, smothered in delicious gravy. The collard greens were perfect-tender and delicious. The Mac and Cheese was slightly gummy but had a very good flavor.

Ms. June (at the counter) greeted everyone who came in with a smile and was very friendly.

Would I come back? Heck yeah!

This is my first time patronizing Simply Delightful and the young lady taking my order was very patient as I asked many questions. The restaurant is in a questionable area but it is very clean and welcoming. I ordered the fried whiting entree with potato salad and macaroni and cheese. I will update my review after eating my meal.

I am going to do a good, bad and down right ugly review.

GOOD: the bumpin shrimp was fantastic! I am picky so I expected grilled shrimp it was breaded but great and the sauce topping was the kicker. Rice and gravy was nice and hot and also tasty.

BAD: the neighborhood. I did not expect to go into an industrial area. It is in the far right back area and I was scared we were going to get held up in the restaurant. DO NOT go hungry cause you will be waiting over 30 mins or more for your food. Order over the phone first then go to eat. They have a few tables inside.
No table services. Order at the counter and wait and wait and wait.

DOWN RIGHT UGLY: the fried chicken was not cleaned and had hair!! It was hot but way under cooked. See photos. The collard greens were over seasoned. My pressure is sky high. The cole slaw was also over seasoned. I ended by tossing most of my food away. I will not be spending my money there again folks. Sad conclusion and disappointed.

This place could be a neighborhood gem if the service was better. It was our first time trying this restaurant and we were excited.

When we asked questions about the menu and for recommendations all the waitress/cashier could tell us about the entrées was what she didn't eat, "Oh I don't eat Oxtails", "oh I don't eat lamb". Needless to say we gave up and ordered on our own.

The chicken was prepared well, a little bland in flavor but still okay. The Mac and Cheese was good and I was told that the turkey meatloaf was just okay.

I definitely would like to return and give the Ox-Tails a try, and I will remember not to ask the cashier for any suggestions.

Nice spot. The service was okay and place was clean. The Crab fries were different, but very tasty. We will definitely go back and sample the rest of the menu.

This food was excellent whoever cooked this really put there foot ankle leg in it... We got the lamb chops mac n cheese sweet potatoes /jerk strips greens rice n gravy it was to die for. I cannot wait to try everything else on the menu.... great job!!!!

I looooooooove Simply's but this is about the chicken and waffle. It is ok to say the least. The waffle batter needs to be revamped. The chicken tenders were another story. They were fried to perfection and moist. I will make sure to give feedback on other items.

this is the second time I have ordered from here through UberEats and my order was cancelled because they could not complete the order. Items were missing. i suggested the last time for them to remove those items on the days they don't have them, so this wouldn't happen again. But here it is cancelled again. NO MORE
