One Word To Sum Up December At The Agency
NanoWriMo.
Technically, that might not really be a word, but I’m going to use creative license here. On December 1, it never fails: Our query inbox will be inundated with letters from writers who just completed their NaNoWriMo project.
Woot! Celebrate!
It is a huge accomplishment to get 50,000+ words (and maybe a completed novel) down on the page. And I’ve said this before, though it probably bears repeating: It doesn’t actually mean your novel is ready to go.
Rare is the author (Hugh Howey comes to mind) whose first drafts or hasty revisions are ready to be seen or even published. Don’t you hate folks who can do that? But for the other 99.9%, probably not.
You might want to spend some time revising or polishing before tackling the submission process. In the past we were open to reading revised versions, but as of late, the crush is too much–you only get one shot. Make it good!

Webinars on Winter Break!
Stay tuned via our January newsletter to see what workshops will be coming up in 2014.
As a sneak preview, and back by popular demand, we’ll be offering the Workshop Intensive THINK LIKE AN AGENT where 10 lucky participants submit the first 30 pages of their manuscript and learn how to road map it to pinpoint areas needing revision.
Also, in 2014, we’ll be introducing a brand new workshop designed by attendee requests! AGENT READS THE SLUSH PILE but this time with limit cap of 18 participants and a guaranteed read for all involved.
You won’t want to miss!
