Midhurst/October 26, 2016 – Members of the media are invited to join County of Simcoe Warden Gerry Marshall at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Paramedic Services Station in Orillia on Friday, October 28 at 3 p.m.
The County of Simcoe established a Paramedic Services long term strategic facility plan aimed at providing efficient and responsive paramedic services now and into the future. This living plan outlined the need to establish a paramedic response presence in various areas across the county to meet the needs of local residents and visitors. As part of this plan, a new eight bay, 9,680 square foot paramedic station will be constructed in Orillia beginning in early 2017 and will serve as a base for paramedics to support the immediate area and entire region.
"Our paramedics strive to respond to emergency calls as quickly as possible," said Warden Gerry Marshall. "By strategically placing our new Orillia station on West Street South, it is anticipated that we will increase the number of responses within 8 minutes to more than 96% of calls, therefore improving the outcomes for residents across this City and growing region."
