Travel Tip: Emergency Apps That Can Save Your Life

iphone mainThere’s no way to anticipate each and every emergency on the road. But you can arm yourself with the tools to deal with a crisis, and that’s where your smartphone can really come in handy. Before you head out make sure to download some apps that can save your life in case of an emergency.

Copper Mountain in Colorado has its own app called Sherpa. It has local tips and snow reports, but what’s really cool is that it’s equipped with a ski patrol locator. So if you get lost or injured, it sends out an alert and gives them your GPS coordinates.

Remember, emergency numbers aren’t the same around the world. That’s where the Help Call app comes in. It automatically finds the closest police department, fire department or ambulance in your destination, and you can make an emergency call to a designated contact.

If you’re taking medications or have allergies, check out the In Case of Emergency app. It stores information for emergency responders, including any ongoing medical conditions and contacts.

And since preparation is always a good idea, check out the apps from the American Red Cross. They have real-time alerts based on your location with tips on what to do in case of emergency.
