ICYMI: Man Dies After Car Plunges Into Water At LI Marina

Investigators are trying to piece together how a man drove through a fence and landed in the water at a local marina Thursday.

OYSTER BAY, NY — An 85-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving plunged into the waters of an Oyster Bay marina.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at 5 Bay Ave.

The driver of a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta was in Theodore Roosevelt Marina's parking lot when he struck a fence and landed in Oyster Bay Cove, according to Nassau County police.

Authorities said they removed the man from the water and rushed him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the identity of the man who died.
