New Delhi, December 26: 2017 has been big on smartphone launches, especially in the low-end and the mid-range segment. The first month of the year witnessed the launch of the world’s very first Google Tango smartphone in India while Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi launched Redmi 4, the cheapest 4GB RAM smartphone in the country. Here’s a list of smartphones launched in India under Rs 15000 in 2017.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A

If your budget can’t go beyond 6K, this is the phone to buy.  The new Redmi 4A is better, faster, and is possibly your best companion for both work and leisure. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. The price of the budget phone starts from Rs 5,999 and is now available in 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. The smartphone compromises on a smaller 16GB storage and has 2GB of RAM. However, if you are looking for a good battery life on a tight budget, this is quite good.

Redmi 4A

The smartphone packs a Snapdragon 425 64-bit, quad-core processor and a massive 3120mAh (typ)/ 3030mAh (min) battery that guarantees you smoother experience throughout the day. Yet it remains light – just 131.5g – and boasts a smooth matte finish that feels great in your hands. The Motorola Moto E4 Plus smartphone launched in June 2017 comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels. The smartphone price in India starts from Rs 9,999. It is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6737M processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM. The Motorola Moto E4 Plus packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. It features the same tried and tested formulae of a large battery life and adequate battery life to the table.

Xiaomi launched its Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India at a starting price of Rs 9,999. The smartphone has a metallic unibody with round edges and comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz. The smartphone comes in three variants — 2GB RAM/ 32GB internal storage, 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with the company’s native MI UI 8 skin. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is backed by a 4,100mAh battery and also comes with an IR blaster.

The Honor 7X smartphone comes in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB priced at Rs 12,999 and 15,999 respectively. The smartphone features an edge-to-edge all-screen design and comes with a high screen-to-body ratio and 2160 x 1080 FHD+ resolution.  The Honor FullView display on the Honor 7X brings you an astonishing, immersive visual experience.  Huawei’s Honor brand announced that the Honor X series has hit the worldwide sales milestone of 40 million units. The series includes smartphones such as Honor 4X, Honor 6X, and Honor 7X, among which the most recently launched Honor 7X. The new model was launched earlier this month with a starting price tag of Rs 12,999.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace

Samsung also launched its budget smartphone  Galaxy J2 Ace in India this year in January and was priced at Rs 8,490. The smartphone comes with a 5.00-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 540 pixels by 960 pixels. The Galaxy J2 Ace features a 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing snapper. It’s backed by a 2,600mAh battery. The Ultra Data Saving Mode on the Galaxy J2 Ace saves up to 50% data so you can enjoy more of your favourite content, while using less data. Equipped with a powerful Quad Core processor and 1.5 GB RAM with Turbo Speed Technology TM, Galaxy J2 Ace gives you the power to play your favourite videos, run games and apps seamlessly.

Along with the above-mentioned budget phones, there are other low-cost phones that have taken the mobile industry by storm.  Reliance JioPhone was made available to everyone at an effective cost of Rs 1500. Reliance will collect a fully refundable, one-time, security deposit of Rs 1,500 with every JioPhone. The amount will be refunded after three years. Airtel and Celkon are offering the popular Star 4G+ smartphone to customers at an effective price of just Rs 1249 under Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative. Meanwhile, telecom operator Vodafone India said it will offer up to Rs 2,100 cash back to customers buying Itel’s A20 smartphone retailing at Rs 3,690 a unit.
