Chance the Rapper held a free concert in Chicago last night, and during the show, a hometown icon made a special appearance. Barack Obama recorded a video message for Chance, congratulating him for serving as the Grand Marshal of Chicago’s annual Bud Billiken parade—the largest and oldest African American parade in the U.S. He also offered an inspirational message for the crowd. Watch it happen below. The show also featured surprise appearances from Future, who performed “Mask Off,” and Jeremih, who performed “Don’t Tell ‘Em.” Find footage of their performances below.

Earlier in the day, Chance gave away free tickets to the concert during the parade. Along with the Bud Billiken Bash, Chance’s youth empowerment charity SocialWorks teamed up with Brooklyn-based STATE bags to donate 30,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to Chicago students at the parade.
