When you want to start a new type of exercise, one of the things to keep in mind is how much equipment is involved in getting set up. For me, the least amount of set up and/or initial investment definitely plays a role in whether I start a new activity or not! Yoga is one of those exercises that require little to no equipment when you start doing it. Now that I’m getting into a routine, I have found that I really like having my own yoga mat and a backpack to take with me to class. So let me tell you about my beautiful yoga accessories from Aurorae Yoga.
About Aurorae Yoga
Aurorae is a family business, popular active lifestyle e-retailer, and yoga mat company founded in 2009 by yoga student and cancer survivor, Dennis Ingui.
Cancer-free for more than 15 years, Ingui started practicing yoga as an outlet in his life to help build his body and develop inner peace of mind. Aurorae’s flagship Classic Yoga Mats became the top-rated yoga mats on Amazon.com after less than a year in operation quickly making Aurorae one of the top yoga mat companies in the country. What started out as a hobby grew into an enjoyable venture for Ingui and his family. My Thoughts
One of the most basic pieces of yoga equipment would have to be your yoga mat. At the heart of it, it’s a rubber like rectangle that allows you to stand, stretch, and lay on while you do your poses. It helps to keep you stable and so you don’t slip while you’re exercising. Plus, it helps keep your hands, feet, and body clean if you are working outside on the ground or on a potentially unclean floor.
One of the common problems we run into with basic yoga mats are they can get slippery when you start sweating. And with hot yoga, where you do your yoga poses in hot and humid conditions, you definitely sweat during your work out! You don’t want to have to worry about being safe, slipping or falling over because you’re trying to dry your hands or feet.
That’s why the Aurorae Synergy Hot Yoga Mat is a wonderful mat to use for yoga! It’s 72″ by 24″ and 5 mm thick. The bottom is like a traditional mat with the rubbery like surface to help keep your mat in place, but the top is covered in a micro-fiber towel to absorb any sweat and keep you from sliding on your mat. The edges are stitched all the way around so you don’t have to worry about them separating in the middle of yoga, and it’s available in several colors and designs so you can pick one that you enjoy the most.
Another important item, at least to me, is a backpack or bag that I can keep odds and ends together as I travel to classes or other locations to complete my yoga for the day. I keep things like my car keys, cell phone, water bottle, extra hair ties, and other little things that I may need before, during, or after class. I also may need to keep my yoga mat rolled up and stored if I’m going out into the local park or other natural setting and need my hands as I’m traveling.
That’s where the Sling Yoga Backpack has been a wonderful product for me to use. It’s made out of heavy duty material so it’ll last a long time. Plus there’s a special yoga mat storage area to hold your mat, rolled up tightly, secure to your bag.
It has two compartments inside to keep your things in place, like a laptop, notebook, or favorite book, safe and secure while you’re traveling. It also has a cell phone compartment so you can easily reach it on the shoulder strap. This is great if you’re listening to music or a podcast while you have your backpack strapped on. And the front pocket has a waterproof liner that you can keep damp workout clothes or towels stored away from your other items to keep them dry. And you can pick from 10 colors and designs to find exactly what backpack you want to use.
I enjoy slinging my Sling Yoga Backpack on my back, with the amethyst Aurorae Synergy Hot Yoga Mat rolled up tightly on the side, and taking off to my class, whether that’s in the studio, local park, or even in a hotel room when I’m traveling for work. I can keep everything I need for my workout together, and keep my personal items secured while I’m doing my yoga.
