Scot's Wine of the Month

Scot's Wine of the Month

Domain du Chateau de Meursault, Beaune, Premier Cru from 2002 is zesty. Fennel and licorice spring from the glass with a boing! Candied cherries spaghetti dance on the palette like a nerdy seventeen year old boy with whistle and glow stick in hand at his first rave.

The red fruits weave across the tongue criss-crossing leaving deep texture of vibrant energy. The wine is racy and quite youthful. I was easily seduced and enamored. The minerals allow for the fruit to zing and exploded as if they were Pop Rocks. I would compare the mineral aspect to what sea salt does to salted caramel. The juxtaposition of crisp multi carat diamond minerals and lush over-ripened berry fruit is what makes this wine interesting.

This wine is perfect with Dijon rubbed lamb. The spice from the mustered and the rich flesh of ‘baby-Jesus’ mirror the characteristics of the wine perfectly.

I suggest a bottle of Domain du Chateau de Meusault, Beaune and some really phat lamb shanks and a jar of Grey Poupon…Plus, I’d get Chef Thierry you know that crazy French man in the hat to prepare it. Mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Santé,

Scot
