1 book1 followerSince leaving a world of suits and shiny shoes to become a full time writer, I have written plays, short stories, poems and even a pantomime. I try to be funny at least three times a week (four times if nobody is looking).
My own children provide a third of my inspiration, another third comes from somewhere within, and the final third comes from the silly things going on all around us all of the time.
I live in Silverstone, UK, with my wife, two children and a cat called Coco. Eric Wishbone and the Frozen Earth is my first published book for children (2013) and is part of a series of 'Eric Wishbone' stories for children. The next book in the series is Eric Wishbone and the Catastrophic Consequences and will be available in 2014 ... so watch this space!

Miss Isle, the Head Teacher at Eric Wishbone’s school conceives of a plan to make every child in the school a well-behaved child. Her plan morphs into controlling the town, then the world. Eric and his two friends Freddie and Bobbie are the only ones in the world who manage to escape the mind control and it’s up to them to save the world.
This is a wacky fantastical tale about three boys saving the world from freezing over when their head teacher tries to freeze the sun so she can make more mind-controlling ice cream.
I enjoy reading many children’s books, and while this one did not particularly appeal to me because it is wildly unrealistic – bears that live in outer space, ice cream that tastes like whatever you can imagine, children that can fly through space without space suits – I think that it will appeal to children in the age group of 9 to 12 years, Mr. Oldershaw’s target age group.
The writing was clear and easy to imagine and visualize. The boys sound like real 9 to 12 year-old boys when they converse with one another. The language in the book is clean and free from profanity.
I gave Eric Wishbone and the Frozen Earth 3 stars out of 5 for it’s appeal to children.
