RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 17, 2013) – James Madison senior linebacker Stephon Robertson and Towson junior running back Terrance West were two of only 11 student-athletes nationwide selected as All-Americans by the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA).

The inaugural class was announced by the organization on Tuesday and includes players from nine different institutions, representing five different conferences. A national panel consisting of media and communications personnel conducted the voting.

Of the 11 student-athletes named to the team, a national Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will be announced at a later date and recognized at the National Championship Game in Frisco, Texas, on Jan. 4 during an on-field presentation.

“The FCS ADA would like to congratulate the inaugural FCS ADA All-America award winners,” said FCS ADA President Brian Hutchinson, director of athletics, Morehead State University. “We are happy to be a part of another program that recognizes our student-athletes and look forward to honoring more individuals with the FCS ADA Academic All-Star team in early January.”

Robertson receives the designation after concluding his stellar career with the Dukes. The Buck Buchanan Award finalist finished his four years in Harrisonburg ranked fourth on the program’s all-time charts with 445 career tackles and as the FCS active leader in career, solo and assisted stops. Robertson started all 46 collegiate contests in which he appeared, totaling 26 career double-digit tackle efforts along the way.

CAA Football’s Offensive Player of the Year, West cops the honor during what has been another prolific season with the Tigers, highlighted by five touchdowns and a league and FCS Playoff record 354 rushing yards in last week’s quarterfinal win over Eastern Illinois. The Walter Payton Award finalist leads the FCS with 39 touchdowns and 2,305 rushing yards this season. West has already set a range of records as only a junior, including a new conference record with 81 career rushing touchdowns, and has become the first Towson player to surpass 4,000 yards on the ground.
