Watch the Words You Release

Watch the Words You Release

As human beings and the image of God in the earth, we must be SO careful of the words we release from our mouth.

Last night several people got into a debate with me on Facebook over a sensitive post I made. One young lady in particular hopped on board saying all manner of things as she, unfortunately, frequently does. (Hopefully, she'll stop now since I finally unfriended her.) After logging off last night, I felt SO ICKY because of the things she'd said to me: like someone had literally opened me up and dumped trash and waste into my body, soul, and spirit. And by the time I woke up the next morning, there was a definite atmosphere of "ickiness" in my room. It hung over me like a cloud as I went about my business and when I heard some things loved ones had to say about a completely unrelated topic, the mixture was complete: depression.

When I pondered the social media conversation before sleeping last night, I was truly struck by the level of hate and slander and whatever else the young lady had communicated. And it came to me, "she does not know what spirit she is of." It made me shutter, but I was tired, so I crashed almost immediately.

Today, a friend who'd seen some of the exchange reached out to me. She'd been praying and she picked up in her spirit what I had last night, only she had a name for it: witchcraft. That's right, witchcraft. When we loose thoughtless, evil, wicked, hateful words out of our mouths against others--even if we call ourselves Christians, even if we call ourselves "helping"--the end result is the same: witchcraft. Your words go out from your mouth and attempt to accomplish that for which they were sent. How do I know this? Because we are made in God's image and likeness and in the Bible says of God's words,

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

Your evil, accursed words literally become weapons that are formed against me or whomever you speak them against. "You're ugly!" "You're stupid!" "You're killing me!" "You'll never succeed!" Those who say these things and other equally hurtful statements may not be casting spells or brewing potions, but their words are EXACTLY the same as the witch and warlock who intentionally curse people. And the accusation against me (or one of them) was that I was a false teacher who twisted the Word of God.

Again I say, this young woman did not know what spirit she was of. Because had she had the biblical knowledge and had she known the biblical precedent for that, she would have remembered Jezebel whom, after Elijah had taken a stand on Mount Carmel, brought the false gods Baal and Asherah (Queen of Heaven) to shame, and slew their 850 false prophets, attacked the Prophet of God with her words. And shockingly, the man of God who'd just called fire down from Heaven and righteously executed Satan's prophets ran like a wimp to the wilderness to escape her words. And yes, he was depressed. He felt like the "onliest one." All because "Jezzy" said, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." She didn't send soldiers, she didn't cast a curse, she simply spoke evil words and they found the prophet and sent him running (I Kings 18:20-19:20).

The intent of Jezebel (one of them anyway) is to discredit the prophets of God. She herself is the symbol of false religion that employs false prophets, but she discredits you when you say what she doesn't want you to. That's what I did last night and "that woman Jezebel" went on the warpath.

I really have no ill will toward the young woman (and others) who spoke evil words against me. They do not know what spirit they are of. But when we stand before God, we cannot say, "Lord, I did not know what spirit I was of!" We'll simply be guilty of witchcraft--unless we repent. And since you are not God, your words will not always prosper (thank the Lord!!) and because of His grace, He alerts us often to the attacks against us either directly (i.e. my feeling last night) or indirectly (i.e. my friend's feeling in prayer today). But all this to say, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SPEAK.

Verse after verse written by the Psalmist shows us that those who speak wicked words are like those with fangs, ravenous wolves or vampires--out for blood. You might now know it, but the end result is the same. But praise God because He never said the weapon wouldn't be formed, He simply said it wouldn't prosper (Isaiah 54:17)! God is my vindicator (and I REALLY need to learn to let Him do it more often), but that doesn't mean lying down and being a doormat either. It means speaking the Truth of God's Word, logos and rhema, and being prepared, "in season and out," to fight the good fight of faith. So talk on Jezebel: God is my Vindicator.
